Should I rent a recliner
ThatDudesMom replied to Toyia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was fine in my bed. I just made sure to remember that I could pop out of bed like normal. Also, I took my pain med as prescribed, which I think help tremendously. -
nude/semi-nude pics??
ThatDudesMom replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My doctor's nurse took a front and side picture of me during my consult for my before pictures. I was fully clothed. It makes sense that they would do that. If they would have asked for a semi nude or nude, I would have declined and then would have been shocked if they didn't understand. As for HIPA laws...it would not prevent a doctor from taking before pictures, but would prevent a doctor from sharing them with someone you did not, in writing, authorize. But...it sounds like from other people, you have nothing to worry about. =-) -

You should take your girls...and then take drinks out of theirs. I think you will find you get your fix pretty quickly. I love tasting my son's foods and drinks! He is 10, but nice enough to share. =-) Dallas

It took me a while to tolerate eggs, which was weird because I didn't really have a problem with anything else really. But, I keep giving them a try, and finally I could eat them with no problem. I started eating them scrambled first....

Words of wisdom requested

I do not buy into the whole pre-diet...talk about misery. You can look at some post that I have responded to in regard to pre-op diets. Good luck! -
pre op diet FAILING !
ThatDudesMom replied to erinawol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different....My pre-op diet was two weeks and included real food. It sucked and I seriously struggled. I had two issues with the whole things. #1. If I could stick to a two week pre-op diet I wouldn't need surgery to loose weight =-) and I didn't want to spend the last two weeks with a full stomach eating crap I didn't enjoy. I felt like I needed to get in what I really loved.... I ended up not following the pre-op diet and worrying about it most to the time...until the last three days and then I did a really good job with it. After my surgery I asked my surgeon about my liver and he said it looked great. With all that said...it turns out I have not had to give up anything. At this point I can eat what I want...just not the amount I used to. I wish I had know that would be the end result before surgery so that I would not have been so bummed at the thought of having to give up certain things. I know that some foods no longer agree with some people and am very grateful that this has not been the case for me. Do your best, but don't be super worried..... -

Anyone's incision pain get worse before it got better
ThatDudesMom replied to mythreechildren2001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You perfectly described my biggest cut and what I experienced with it. A day or two after it started to "flare up" I happened to have an appointment with my regular doctor for something else. He told me he thought my body was rejecting it and that he may be infected, so he prescribed an antibiotic. My appointment was on a Thursday, and his nurse called in the prescription. When I went to pick it up, there was a mix up or something so I could get it that day. I got it straightened out the next day, but for some reason wasn't buying what my doctor said. I also happened to have a follow up appointment scheduled with my surgeon on Monday, so I waited to see what he said. When I went, he said my body was just dealing with the dissolving stich that was used to close the incision. It was also in a spot that was in contact with my waist band. He told me to keep an eye on it, and to let him know if it got worse. It didn't and ended up healing nicely. -
Those with over 100 pounds lost - did you lose your bat wings??
ThatDudesMom replied to sychadelic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 82....and at around 50 pounds it started bothering me. I have been working my arms tons... every other day. I work out at the YMCA and do all of the arm machines (there are 7 or 8), plus a trainer their picked out three other cable arm exercises. I have also been doing Zumba/Kick/Boxing/TurboKick 3-4 days a week which works the arms as well. There has been a noticeable difference....and at this point the only part that I am worried about is a small back section closest to my armpit. Although everything else on the underside jiggles when I shake my arm, it seems as though as I continue to lose and lift, it won't be so bad. But that small spot....I don't know! Hope this helps! -
Clothing/size question
ThatDudesMom replied to Gayle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it seemed to change pretty quickly. I am 5' 9" and started at 300. I am down 82 pounds in 6 months. I was wearing a 26/28 from plus sized stores such as Lane Bryant, Avenue, and Catherines. Now 14/16 from those stores are at times too big. But in a regular store...a 16 can be snug. As for a bra, I have gone from a 48 DD to a 40 DDD. And my feet!!!! From a 12 to an 11!!! -
Calcium Citrate chewable--Which one taste the best?
ThatDudesMom replied to Penpen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Bariatric Chews (not chewable). The berry and lemon are like starburst and the chocolate is like a tootsie roll. No funky side flavor, after-taste, film, just a good chewy. I do have to say however, that I was eating all four at one time, and then my doctor told me to spread them out so that my body could absorb them better. GNC also has a carmel chew that I like...if I recall correctly, you take two a day. -
This whole not drinking while eating...
ThatDudesMom replied to mythreechildren2001's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As with everything....everyone is different. When I started eating real food again, it seems like every time I went to sit down to eat, I was dying of thirst. Sometimes I would just eat...and sometimes I would drink as much as I wanted and then wait about 20 minutes to eat. I have since learned to drink lots through the day so that I am not so thirsty when it is time to eat. My doctor said it is best to eat on an empty stomach so that you have enough room for the food you need. At times I do take so me sips while eating, but if I drink too much I can barely eat anything and sometimes it gives me a gut ache. Again...everyone is different. -
If a leak were to occur, when would it be?

Will they MAKE you wear your CPAP at the hospital?
ThatDudesMom replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my CPAP machine a couple of weeks before surgery and used it at home. I was told I had to take it to the hospital in order for them to do the surgery. I took it, but they never even saw it. I haven't used it since my surgery. I was told they wanted to make sure to have it in case I needed it in the recovery room. -
Love it...will also do it with olives for a change up. Thanks for sharing!

So Much Conflicting info
ThatDudesMom replied to samantha209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not agree that you have to be in ketosis to lose weight...and 1000 calories is not to much in the weight loss stage. I did a body scan at my doctors office and the results said that I need 1600 to maintain my weight, so to lose weight I need to consume 1600. 1000 would be well under 1600. Plus, with exercise.... Everyone is different. -

Let's Talk: Post Op Acne
ThatDudesMom replied to Candace2314's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My skin has never been better...I have attributed it to 1. Eating better, 2. Looking better, and wanting to look even better so taking care of my skin (3 steps morning and night), and 3. Getting in a good amount of fluids. I hope you get answers...skins issues can be stressful.
