I really like your seat belt story. It is the little victories that can count the most. I look forward to not getting stuck in my mothers dining room chairs. -

Some insurances will cover removal of the apron if it is a certain size and there are health issues ie sores from the skin rubbing etc. Check with your provider. -
Lean Cusine and other frozen Pre made foods
ansoninc replied to Steph951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Fresh and Easy meals. I get the Salmon with Dijon mustard. I give the potatoes to the birds. When i was at the puree stage I bought the Shepard Pie and pureed it. It was good, but too spicy for my baby stomach. I also pick up the Lean Cuisine/Weight Watcher meals when they are on sale. Again, I give the rice, potatoes etc to my birds. I have chickens and peacocks so nothing goes to waste. -
here of of sheer frustration

Were you able to meet with the nutritionist? Does your doctor have a lap band support group? Your life style sounds very hectic. You need to find time to organize your kids meals and your own. your doctor needs to give you some guidance not nagging and threatening. -
Don't worry about calories right now. As everyone has said keep small bites of food handy. i also get bottles of Isopure. One bottle has 40 grams of Protein. It has 160 calories but, one bottle , 20 oz, will last you all day. Right now it is important to get adequate fluids, protein and fiber so evil constipation doesn't befall you.

Maybe you could go with your wife the next time she sees her band doctor and ask him these questions yourself. After 4 years the band may have moved or need to be replaced. If she is not getting proper nutrition that can affect her moods. Not everyone adjust to losing a lot of weight positively. Counseling might help. Don't try to diagnosis via the internet. hopefully she has a family doctor she trusts. a good full physical maybe in order. Good luck.

I suggest calling your insurance company. They know what your deductibles are. i could never get a straight answer out out of my doctors office as to how much I would owe him after insurance. Turns out I had used all my deductibles ealier in the year for something else and my bill to him was 19.99 and 110.00 to the hospital.

Be sure to read other posting in this discussion board. What you posted has been posted many times. Many people think the gain right after surgery maybe due to the IV fluids. It will get better, I was banded on 11/29. i have lost 30 pounds. I go for spans of losing a pound a day to losing a pound a week, Next week i go for my first fill. I am ready as I can eat just about anything now. I wish i had found this discussion board before i had surgery, it would have answered a lot of questions i had. It does get a lot better. We are the ones in control of our weight loss not the band. -

Pack my bag for me!
ansoninc replied to ~*~Rachel~*~'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was there for 23 hours. i took my smartphone, a clean pair of undies and a puzzlebook in case I got bored. I didn't feel that good to get bored! Everyone is right, you cannot bring in medications and they do monitor what you are drinking. The hospital had a weight loss center so they give out tote bags with information and a big yellow pillow with a smiley face. I did use the pillow. You are suppose to hold it against your stomach when you have to cough. Have things ready for when you get home. This includes what you can drink. I had decaf coffee and Isopure. Make sure you have whatever prescriptions the doctor gave you filled. -
So this is where everyone has been hanging out. i had also seen the 60's link before, but it was pretty dead. I will be 63 in February. My weight has been a continual battle. I had my surgery 11/28/10. I was at my highest weight of 250. I am now down to 213. I would like to lose 50 more. I am lucky not to have a lot of medical problems except for slight high blood pressure. But, my bones are starting to ache. I have had a personal trainer at the gym for about 3 years. We have become limited as to what we can do because my knees would hurt, or my shoulders even my thumb ached. It was time to do something. I am single with no kids so I need to make sure I can take care of myself. I have friends, but I don't want to call them because I have gotten to fat to move. Has anyone noticed any discrimination due to their ages? Did anyone try to discourage you from getting the band because of your age? Looking back, I can't say that I recall any discrimination at all. We all have to meet the same criteria no matter what age. Forward on everyone!

I was given two of these as, seen on TV gadgets, for Christmas. i took one back to Walgreens and the other still sits in the box. Has anyone tried them yet? Weight loss gadgets flood the markets constantly and the only ones that seem to stay are a good pair of sneakers and a couple of heavy books or cans to use as weights. Thanks

I am a mental health professional. A while back i ran into a former patient I had not seen in quiet a while. i had gained weight since he had seen me last. I could tell he wasn't quite sure what to say so he said. "Well, you look well and larger." I could not argue with him.

Pre-op Full Liquid Diet
ansoninc replied to BASIMAH's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my doctors nurse what the 2 week liquid diet was for. I told her that i heard it was to shrink the liver. She told me it was because they didn't want the patients to gain any more weight before the surgery. I did the Protein powder twice a day and usually one meal was eating the protein out of a lean cuisine meal. I would leave behind the rice, potatoes etc. i lost about ten pounds in the process and I didn't feel like crawling the walls. It does help you get use to limiting what you eat. It is hard to go from a chicken pot pie one day to chicken broth the next day. -
About 15 years ago I worked in the mental health field with a lot of nurses. i was surprised to see that most of them were smokers. Their end of the building was always filled with smoke. That was until laws came into effect and they had to smoke outside and then 20 feet away from the buildings. We all do things we know better not to.

I have heard many people complain about not being able to eat eggs after getting a lap band. It doesn't seem to matter what form they are in. Scrambled, fried, poached or whatever. so maybe it was the eggs???
