That's a new one on me. I have made them with juice before and they are not bad, so I guess you could use crystal light also. What is his reasoning against milk is it just the calories? You might check about using light soy or light almond milk, they run about 70 calories per glass and I actually like almond milk better than low fat milk, it is pretty much all that we drink around the house.

At the end of last months challenge I was down to 256 and dropped another pound and a half on Friday morning. I weighed myself before bed and was back to 260. How can I gain over 5 pounds in one day and eat the same amount. It's like my body goes "Hey its the weekend and we know he is going to cheat lets just go ahead and put on the weight now and we won't have to worry about it later. Okay, enough whining on to the challenge. Name, real or screen~ Larry Age~ Let's just say I can get the senior discount when I go to the movies. So what makes you say that you won't loose the 200 lbs. I was banded last January at 58 years old and 390 lbs. I have lost 130 lbs so far and I am very confident that I will get down below 180 before I am done. -

Great idea. I will have to think about it, there are so many things I can do now that I couldn't do before. The other day I bought underwear off the shelf at Target. Doesn't sound like much but I used to buy 5x and the only place to get them were at the big and tall stores or online, now I can fit into a 2x. As far as learning dulcimer right now I am working hard on the ukulele, but I did buy a couple of autoharps at Goodwill the other day. I find that to keep myself from wanting to snack at night I am better if I keep busy. So when I feel hungry or want a snack I just grab a Uke and start punking away. I really recommend this procedure for anyone who has a problem with snacking while watching TV like I do. It doesn't have to be an instrument. You can take up knitting, sewing, drawing, fly tying, anything to keep you busy and keep your mind off of food, but it needs to be something that doesn't require a lot of preparation. In other word something you can keep next to the couch and is easy access while you are watching TV. -

I know how you feel. I have never been able to hold any of my grandchildren on my non existent lap, but I have another on the way. -

I have one of those two. Never learned to play it when I figured out that I was missing one of the most important items for playing a lap dulcimer. That would be a lap. Maybe I will revisit it now. -

Yep I felt like I was trying to relive my younger days this weekend. I has been a long time since I went to a rock concert, usually tend to attend more folk type shows. The funny thing was that I would guess that the average age of the audience was in their 50's. Of course Johnny Rivers is almost 70. It's sort of funny seeing your icons growing old. -

Sure, and since it is October we have to do a "Very Scary Halloween Challenge". Unfortunately I still didn't get enough sleep last night either. Had tickets to see Johnny Rivers last night so we didn't get home until almost midnight and was still wound up and didn't get to sleep until about 1:30 AM so my butt is dragging at work today. -

I went to a poker game last night and against better judgement drank coffee a lot later than I should have, so if you are wondering why I am posting this at 2:30 on Sunday morning it's because I have a caffeine buzz going and can't sleep. Here are the results for week four of the Harvest Moon Challenge. Good luck everyone in the final week. -
I eat pizza occasionally. I find if I stick to the thin crust and chew well I don't have a problem with it.

I was type 2 when I had my surgery, January. I was taking Actos once a day and metformin/glyburide twice a day and still having trouble keeping my blood sugar under 150. Even before my surgery I switched to a low carb diet and after the surgery I ate even less. Within 3 months I a had stopped taking all of my meds and my blood sugar was running about 100. Today I am med free my blood sugar is in the mid 80's and my A1C is 5.2. -

I made to 259 on Sunday morning but then gained 4 pounds by Monday, even though I played disc golf Sunday afternoon. It's bad enough when you gain but when you work your butt off the day before and still gain 4 pounds, makes me really mad. -

Does it get in the way? Maybe a little but not nearly as much as my big fat belly did. Don't know if it is a turn off, depends on how vain your partner is. Since I am married my wife doesn't seem to be turned off by it, of course she didn't really mind when I was 390 lbs either. Do I feel self conscience. Not nearly as much as I did when I was at my maximum weight, of course I am not out to win any beauty contests and I really don't plan on showing up at the beach in a speedo either.

A little help / suggestions / ideas.....
larrypdot replied to joegar84's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pack a lunch, don't even think about going out to eat or buying junk out of vending machines. Use an insulated lunch box or small cooler with an ice pack. Lowfat yogurt, cottage cheese, raw vegetables, tuna either salad or I just like mine with Frank's Red Hot Sauce, make a second portion of you dinner the night before and take it, and sugar free pudding is a must. -

Whine with dinner or wine with dinner?
larrypdot replied to larpens's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
10 days? That is pretty soon to be falling back to bad habits. It probably will not hurt you but remember alcohol is empty calories. The other thing to remember is you cannot drink it until after 30 minutes, so you probably will be drinking on an empty stomach, this will increase the effects of the alcohol. If you are going to drink you still need to treat it like anything else you put into you. It goes into you daily calorie count. Check the calories, you will probably say no to that margarita once you see how high it is. I do occasionally have a drink now but when I do it is bourbon on the rocks or strait up, no mixers for me. I love wine and beer but both are so high in calories that I usually stay away from them.
