kassy_360 started following Slow Weight Loss After Lap Band Surgery......, Unexplained fever, Unexplained fever and and 7 others

Just curious.. am 2 1/2 years post op.. had an unexplained fever for over a week now with swollen glands. Seen my regular PCP twice. Can't find anything .. ears, throat, lungs, sinuses all clear. Started an antibiotic cause I'm not sure they had any other ideas. No sign of an internal band related infection and doubtful after this long but am starting to wonder.

I am a major lap band failure. Had it 2 years ago next month.. down 40 pounds and back up about 7. I also had other issues that just didn't make my band a priority and need to turn it around. I have a pretty impressive outstanding bill with the office I can't pay off right now and don't want to step back in the office until it's all set. Hopefully in a few months I'll be able to get a fill and start fresh before I gain much more.

Personally I would not rush into it again

Well I have been up laying in bed since 2am listening to my stomach growl. That yes your hungry not going to sleep unless you eat something growl. My nutritionist says it's "just a habit" and to ignore it and it will stop. I have tried increasing protein at dinner, not drinking after dinner, increasing fluids after dinner, a later dinner, an earlier dinner with a snack before bed, even Tylenol PM in hopes of sleeping thru it. Nothing seems to keep me from waking up between 2am-3:30am with a growling stomach. Any ideas on how to break this "habit"? I really think it's sabotaging my weight loss since the idea of being up half the night dosn't thrill me and I usually give in

I have heard some people say they eat roughly a cup a meal, some say 2-3 ounces, some say for 15 minutes and they are done. My nutritionist says "until your satisfied". Well for those of us who have never done such a thing "satisfied" is a pretty foreign concept. I have asked for something a little more specific and she just dosn't give it. Until I learn what satisfied is I feel like I need a guideline. Some say they get a runny nose or hiccups when their band signals full.. I havn't found that clue yet either.

I do have the PCOS, and am diabetic, in fact on double the insulin I was on prior to surgery which just adds to weight gain so thats why we just switched some meds around.. blood sugar in better control but more meds then ever and no weight loss.

So I said I would give the band 2 years .... and it's coming up on that in Sept. I'm only down 45 pounds and nothing since last November. I recently have found myself hungry more then usual.. however still get stuck & vomit at least twice a week and have a good amount of stuff I cant tolerate... so I don't think a fill is in order. I feel like a lot of my food is mush .. tuna, chicken salad ground beef etc to keep things from sticking... cutting up a hamburg patty would be too much .. it goes into the chopper and mixed with tomato and relish to get it down without an issue. I try and stick with high protein low carb to keep me full as much as possible. I don't drink with meals. I used to not snack but found my portions bigger then they should be.. so now I have my 3 smaller meals with a healthy snack either fruit or yogurt usually. I told myself 2 years and if all else failed I would go the gastric bypass route. I really don't want to but don't know what else to do to make the band more effective. I have kept food logs, still walk at least 2 miles a day and do weights at the gym 2 days a week. Most recently I had my diabetes med changed to one that has a side effect of weight loss which has also not changed anything ..
-
I had mine done at the same time "biggest I have seen" he said, Also had to reinforce the botom portion of my esophagus he said .. kinda eaten away from the acid.. Still 2 weeks off and I was great. Unfortunately it didn't help my heartburn at all, still on meds twice a day

I started taking Biotin the day I got home from the hospital cause I wasn't taking any chances with my hair.. my protein intake has always been great, taking my multi vit, now 16 months later my hair is starting to be .. not thin but damaged feeling.. broken, not nice and silky anymore. I just went to get it cut thinking it was dead ends.. she took about 2 inches and still dosnt feel any better. Any ideas?

What Was The Deciding Factor To Finally Lose The Weight?
kassy_360 replied to kristallynn13's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My brother planned his wedding in Mexico .. I sweated the seatbelt thing up till the day we boarded the plane .. thank god it fit with the extender. Was a great week and time for the flight home. Plane was packed, was seated in the emergency exit row where you are not allowed to use an extender .. struggled a bit and realized there was no way it was gonna buckle. Had to fake recovering from a broken shoulder and would be unable to operate the emergency exit door so they would move me. Not a total lie . it had been about 8 weeks from the break but I probebly could have handled the door if need be.
