Breastfeeding With Sleeve
renniemommie replied to ATLGirl's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
If the milk isn't nutritious enough, then your baby will just eat more of other food. Keep up your vitamins. Lots of Dr. don't know much about BFing. -

renniemommie replied to ChrissyKat29's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Calicum so you keep your teeth, no Ketosis for babies sake, protein for you both and Fish Oil,etc for you both. Yeah for you! -
Met with the RE today--not so great VERY LONG SORRY
renniemommie replied to deedee's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I went to Mexico for a IVF (it did not work, but I was 39 at the time) The Clinic/Dr's were AWESOME, clean, professional, English speaking and I will be going back again later this year. (I haven't had surgery of any kind yet, I am in pre-approval/choice mode). My clinic was IECH in Monteray< Mexico. It is about 1/2 the cost. Cheap flight (or drive), stay in hotel nearby, work with Dr. here in US for as much pre-testing as possible and your off! Good Luck Oh ha, I guess I posted too soon, good luck on the Adoption. Is there a extra baby out there? I'd adopt now...turned off by hassle cost here in Texas. -
I KNEW it wasn't just anemia/protein/loss of fat. thin people aren't as cold. Lovely...I guess just don't look like you've gained 25 by putting on a warm coat!

I saw this regarding B deficiency. Helps me think of why that can be so:
"B12 deficiency can be caused by insufficient stomach acid - necessary to separate B12 from ingested protein. This is the most common cause of B12 deficiency in the elderly and individuals on drugs that suppress gastric acid production."

11 weeks post op and confused!!
renniemommie replied to Strwberriekissesrbetter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A trick for a platau, is to go pretty HIGH up on calories for a day or two. Then, go back to your normal level. Then your body thinks everything is Ok, (famine=stress is over) and I bet you'll start to lose! -
what can I tell my nosey boss?
renniemommie replied to steph025's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i see the issue, your boss is just nosey and clueless. Give him lots of info that isn't info and a few lies to toss the trail. I'd try something like, "im having surgery, I wanted you to know, I'll be gone from these dates to these dates, I'll be fine when I get back. I really don't want anyone to know why I am going, you know how office gossip is, but between us, I'll let you know I am having (whatever plausible hernia repair, etc).">He'll tell of course, so keep it plausible. You might not want to say Gallstones, since you may actually face this in the future! Once, my boss asked why I was going (he was just curious), I told him the OBGYN reason I was really going-he never asked again! -
Doctor is at a Loss to Explain
renniemommie replied to onikenbai's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Can you get a second opinion? Change of Dr. Something? I have headache issues of my own, I don't know what I'd do if I was you. I don't know much about your medical brain fluid issue, but I had a student who had severe headaches, had a shunt (that wasn't working real well) and was ALSO overweight. Unless they are a specialist in your issue, how can they say weight loss is the key. Fkrs...Good Luck! -
I'm FREEZING cold
renniemommie replied to Go Kart Mozart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've seen this from others. I know that as we lose fat we are getting colder and our bodies are generally out of wack, but there are others who are thin and not cold-so what is really up with this? Does it ever go away? I'd take a weight loss in exchange for being cold, course then you are wearing bulky clothes.. I haven't had WLS surgery yet. -
And the stupid comments begin...

This woman was/is a Drama queen. How did your friend react, this may be par for the course with Mom, freaks out, everyone runs to her. She also may be afraid for you, at this point a little late...she may be real embarrassed by her behavior now. My family is freaking out. It sounds bad, 1/2 stomach gone for weight loss, they tell me to get on the ball and really focus and work out. Really? I look just like my Aunt! I've been over 200 since I was 30, 170 in High School and even at 5 "9 (i've shrunk) that is just sad, now at 40 I've spent the past 2 years hovering at 280 or regaining everything i've lost. I'm DONE. -
Holy Fast Approval Batman!
renniemommie replied to cynslosinit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! That's fast! I am calling Aetna today to make sure all my ducks will be in a row! I am going to ask for a case manager. I hadn't gotten one yet. I am on the 3mo diet plan. My Dr/ can't even submit until Feb 14. My hubby is about to leave the job that has Aetna and the new job does not cover WLS. So he is trying to stay as long as he can to get me covered, but he is already at the new hotel balancing shifts between the two. To really complicate matters, I have a seasonal, 8 weekends only, bar manager job starting Feb 19th-April 9th) I need to push this surgery as far into the future to keep my job (I have a friend that can to do my job the first weekend after, while I "show my face once in a while and hide in my RV). I may pay for Cobra for one month, to push it forward 4 weeks, but then that cost *essentially* comes out of my pay at festival job and still may not get me to April, but helps ensure I'll be back next year!) We will see, but I am tired of my booty, enough to be less afraid of WLS! Happy New Year Indeed! Here's to a new 365 day trip around the sun!! -
Sleeve Recovery Time? ..Have walking job..
renniemommie replied to renniemommie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You M&M and Milk product story reminds me of something. First, about 15 years ago I had the flu and was real sick, Mom was cooking a fancy turkey for xmass dinner. In my fever haze, all I could smell was that damm bird. Ruined me for turkey for about 10 years!! Also as a kid, I stayed with Dad all summer. He and his wife were eating uber healthy food, nasty stuff really, but when I got back to my Mom's at the end of the summer, I was a Ridged Chip-it was sooo nasty I almost puked. Now, after a while they tasted good again ..so maybe the M&M's ARE really gross!! I can't be gone from this job for even a weekend, no way, no how. It is a 8 weekend event and they are out of luck, there is no replacement. BUT, If I am at least onsite at the start and end of the day with my friend (who is a already employed by the event as one of my bartenders) running everything and me hiding in my trailer the rest of the time I can sneak thru. (crossed fingers) The next weened will be 12 days out and not as bad, esp since I don't work during the week. At least I am praying that. I am considering COBRA to extend my benefits till later, but the cost of that outweighs the money I'd make at the job! Thanks! -

Doctor is at a Loss to Explain
renniemommie replied to onikenbai's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
With your headaches, I'd try a shunt too, it will get clogged a bit-but maybe not, and not having headaches for a long time might be nice! As far as the sleeve, get it. I have neither, I am about to get one or the other, my new insurance may not cover it, so I think I am going sleeve from the get go. Good luck! (I hate when I get the lose weight answer, duh..) Keep trying! -
Need ADVISE!! Good restriction but still hungry!!??
renniemommie replied to next12bbanded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
maybe get a fill, even if you feel it is Ok, you can always go back to the level you are at now, and I'd also add more protein too. -
Still Suffering after Traumatic Band Removal
renniemommie replied to Mariposa Bella's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
To me this sounds like you need to see a specialitst in bands, maybe not even one in your city. A second or third opinion. As good as your Dr. is, it could fall under a insurance settlement. I don't see why you should get a sleeve, until this is cleared up. Don't live this way until you have exhausted all options.
