I've been reading a lot of people have trouble with insurance. I have a bmi of 43 recently diagnosed with high blood pressure & high cholesterol. Hoping insurance won't require the 3 or 6 month diet. Can anyone give me any insight?? Planning to call the insurance company Monday...

So what are you going to do when you loose your weight
readi4achange replied to XBIGJIMX's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so with you ladies!! My best friend is getting married June 18th and being banded feb 7th. I was in my other girlfriends wedding and was maid of honor and just hate looking at the pictures. Although I felt beautiful and got many compliments, I had to have a different dress made because all of the other girls were a size 4 or 6 and I'm a 22. So I can't wait till June, doesn't matter if I lose 20 lbs or 80lbs, I just want to feel sexier and not stand out so much!!! Not to mention my family reunion is in July at the beach.... sexy bathing suit?? I think so!! Good luck everyone, hope we all reach our goals!! -

Let me explain. The doc's office called with my dates. I've finished the pre op testing so I was ready for a Christmas present of a lap band. She proceeded to tell me my endoscopy is Jan 5th, pre surgery appointment Jan 21st, and surgery feb 7th. I know I should be happy that I have a date, but I can't stop feeling upset that it's 2 months away.... Need a little encouragement people!! -

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. I have put a countdown on my phone & my plans for each week which is helping me. Tomorrow I'm 9 weeks away and going to purchase so of the Protein shakes & supplements so I can get myself ready for the two week pre op diet. This forum is so helpful, I have a great support system at home but it helps to have thousands of people who know EXACTLYwhat I'm going through!!! -

I think it is very normal! I got the call yesterday & while I was thrilled I also have the what if this doesn't work thoughts. But reading all the success people have had on here has really eased my worries. With a lot of hard work we'll be successful!! Good luck with your surgery mine is feb 7th! -

Thanks everyone you have been so helpful & encouraging!! I have taken all your suggestions and will be purchasing protein shakes & bars to start drinking & eating trying to get adjusted to the changes. One thing I have noticed is since I began the process nov 1st I have been eating like a pig!! It's crazy, has this happen to anyone else?? My thought is my body is like give me all the bad crap one last time before I cut it out my life... -

That's good its working out (maybe)! My boyfriend was upset when I told him at first, but after he looked into it himself and got a better understanding of why I chose to do it. Now he's my biggest cheerleader!!! Good luck! -

Surgery on December 21st...nervous/excited
readi4achange replied to mminuk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Mar, It's good to see someone else on here that's similar to myself. I just turned 29 two weeks ago, I'm 5'11 310 lbs. I've also always been confident. Never felt as big as I truly am. I've done all the pre op testing and find out tomorrow what my surgery date will be. I'm really excited & terribly nervous for the changes about to take place in my life ( although I know they are necessary). Good luck with your surgery & success. Do they have you on a pre op diet?? D :-) -
Introducing Myself!

I too am a carb junkie. I'm also a top chef ( in my mind!) so I love to cook rich carb loaded dishes. The healthy stuff isn't as exciting. But I'm determined to make it exciting. I feel like since I've decided to have the surgery ive been eating like a cow. It's weird I never usually eat this much but now I'm eating huge meals. I'm going to buy some of the protein supplements tomorrow to help me get started on my diet. -

Ronnie, what were the results of your study if you don't mind me asking. I'm a ridiculously light sleeper as well. I'm so nervous for tomorrow -

Hi girls, I'm also new to this forum. It's nice to see other girls in their 20s on here. I'm not 5'6 though! Im5'11 300lbs. I've never had medical related issues until the beginning of November when I was told my cholesterol & blood pressure are slightly elavated. Good luck with your surgeries on the 23rd. I'm just about finished I just got for my sleep study Wednesday. Hopefully I will be scheduled the end of dec or early Jan... -

Hi everyone! I'm loving this site, it has been helpful & encouraging to hear others stories. Here's mine... So I started the process in January of this year. I originally wanted breast reduction surgery but was denied by my insurance. They said I need to lose. Weight first. So discouraged one of the doctors suggested I look into lap band. I have researched numerous times, but this the first time I set up an appointment with a surgeon. I had the meeting in February and was nervous but excited. I came home talked to my parents and they were all for it, but when I talked to my boyfriend he was adamant I not do it, and basically talked me out of it. But it has been in the back of my mind for months. I recently was diagnosed with high blood pressure and high cholesterol two problems I've never had before October I made the decision, my birthday was nov 16th which I turned 29 and realized I want to get my health together before I turn the big 3 0. I called the surgeons office they gave me the phone numbers to the cardiologist, psychologist, and sleep center. I had my cardio appointment today and was cleared. I also had the psych eval and was cleared. So Monday nov 29th is my sleep center appt and hopefully I will be cleared with that as well. I am hoping to have my surgery in december.... (excited & ready!) -

Thanks Jim! I think this is a better option, still might get the reduction once the band is successful, but we'll see... -

Thanks for your encouragement Annie! I am ready, just scared about the insurance approval. I've read so many people on here are having issues I hope they don't require the 3 or 6 month diet. That would be a crushing blow. My bmi is currently a 43 so hopefully that will be enough
