nausea post op
Pamalamadingdong replied to Lucky23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat, was banded the 14th was ok yesterday but today, I'm nausious, I can feel my esphogus spazem when I try and take a breath. I can barely drink anything with out wanting to barf. I just tried to eat a cup (prepackaged cups) of jell-o, got about 1/2 of it down (in about 10 minutes) and I feel so full that I want to puke again. Not sure if that is normal or if I should call my dr. -
does anyone else get these thoughts?
Pamalamadingdong replied to IFEELGOOD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've actually had 2 people tell me I should give lab band a try. They are co-workers and both had great success with it. I got a lot of preinformation on it and they were the ones to give me the final push to do it. But they were not strangers. At first I was so offended I wan't to cry, but once I got over that I reailzed that I'm fat as hell and they are just trying to help. I was banded 2 days ago, it sin't worth it yet still pretty miserable but I have afeeling in a few weeks/months it will be -

Pamalamadingdong replied to trishfish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been worried about kindey stones, I've had more than I can count in the last 10 years. I really don't want anymore, sorry you are dealing that them I know how much they suck. -
Overnight in Hospital?
Pamalamadingdong replied to Pamalamadingdong's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone in my clinic has to spend the night. For all the complaining I did I was glad I stayed, I got IV pain meds and IV fluids. My hospical only has private rooms, so I've never had to share a room with someone, thank goodness. -
Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
Pamalamadingdong replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded yesterday (Dec 14th, 2010), I woke up at the crack of dawn I was so nervous. got to the hospial at 11:30, and sat in the waiting froom of ver an hour. FINALLY at 12:30, they too mein pre-op for anoher hour. At 2:15 they finally came to take me to surgery, surgery was schduled for 1:00., they had wto gastric bypasses first thing , I guess one of the band really bad complications, because she was in the unit when I got to the floor, with the other bander and the other bypass. Spent the night, as much as I complained about it before hand I was glad when I was there. I was up and walking the halls with in 2 hours of getting into my room. It helped with the trapped gas in my shoulders and neck. Had one bitchy nruse who kept trying to take away my PCA in favor of the oral pain meds. Finally had to tell here that I will be on them for 12 hours only so just leave them, until the morning when I'm susposed to stop. Dr wouldnt' have prescribed 12 hours of morphine if I wasn't susposed to use it. I'm still in quite a lot of pain, hoping I get over that quickly, I've got stuff to do. I'm glad it is done, I'm ready to get on with this weight loss business. Oy and I also need to work harder on not drinking so much at one time. -
pain and uncomfortable
Pamalamadingdong replied to kittykat123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded yesterday as well and I'm in pain my but stomach isn't bloated, like it was yesterday. Was on a morphine pump overnight at the hospital, now I'm happy I spent the nigh, but my 3:30 this afternoon I was given my first does of liquid pain killers. It was nasty and I drank too much Water and that made me even more miserable. I also itch like crazy, from the morphine. -
Overnight in Hospital?
Pamalamadingdong replied to Pamalamadingdong's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no health problems, I have HBP, but it is very mild and very well controlled with my meds, and I've only been on meds for 3 months. I just prefer to sleep at home in my own bed. I've spent the night at this hospital before and lets just say I got less than stellar care, being one of 3 patients on the floor you would think that I would have better care but it just made the staff lazy. The only reason I'm doing it there is becuase it is this is where the dr goes, and it is the only dr my insurance covers. Other wise I'd have gone to the other clinic in town. -
Anyone being banded tomorrow?

The BIG secret!!
Pamalamadingdong replied to carolann0117's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't tell anyone, other than my husband, I was doing this until I had my approval. That was only 4 weeks ago. But my family, mom, dad, sister, maybe my brother he's been on his honeymoon so he may not know. LOL! My immedeiate co workers know, and my 2 best friends but I haven't told other friends and don't know that I will. I kind of feel the same way, like I'm cheating, and that people willl think less of me. But I'm here to tell you, know that surgery is 2 days away, this isn't the easy way out, we are all working just as hard as everyone else, some of us just need a little more support. I won't lie if someone asks me but I'm not volunteering that info either. -
What was your very first DR appointment like?
Pamalamadingdong replied to tabbatha35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first (and only) meeting with my dr was good, it was about 20 minutes and he went over the procedure asked some questions about my health, I asked him about a bening tumor I have in my abdomen, he was concerned for a moment before he realized that my dr had consulted with him about it because he didn't know what to do with it, so he already knew what it was and where so I didn't have to have further testing, thankfully. My dr also went over the sleeve and the bypass, just to make sure I had all the info on all the options. He answered all my husbands questions and made him much more relaxed about this. I was already good with doing this. Don't be nervous, it should be painless, if its not, you might want to consider finding a different dr. -
Tomorrow is my big day!!

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
Pamalamadingdong replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Two weeks seems to be the most frequent time choice of pre-op diets. If the dr thinks its good enough then you should be fine. -
How will I keep the barium down post op?
Pamalamadingdong replied to jenleigh526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My clinic put a anti nausia patch behind our ear just before surgery and leaves it there for 3 days. I'm greatful for this because the anasti(I cannot spell that word you all know what I mean LOL) makes me really nausous. There may be something they can give you post op to help with that. -
December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
Pamalamadingdong replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The last 2 days have been really bad for me. It hasn't helped that every time I try to eat something, like oatmeal, or jello or drink a shake at work I'm interupted and by the time I get back to my desk its cold/warm. I've missed breakfast and or lunch for 2 days and I just can't catch up on my protein. I'm hoping tomorrow will be better. -
A little TOO easy?
Pamalamadingdong replied to melzie_99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow they are really shoving you through. I thought I was rushed getting rushed having only 4 weeks to get through everything. Seeing your dr one day and starting the liquid diet the next seems a bit fast good choice going with the later date. -

Pamalamadingdong replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
19 in less than a week? I want to say reap the benifits, since you're going to the dr tomorrow s/he'll tell you tomorrow if something is wrong with that. That is awesome. -
Weight loss during Pre-Op Diet
Pamalamadingdong replied to lucky13girl4652's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I thought I was doing good I'm on day 7 and down 6 lbs. I shouldn't read this type of stuff because I'm sure I will be one of those who loses their weight painfully slow, in fact I'm prepaired to eat 1000 cals a day and still only lose .5 a week. -
December 15th is Banding day!!!
Pamalamadingdong replied to new@52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried different shakes? If that one is so gross try the carnation breakfasts they are so far the best thing I've had, they dont' have as much Protein, but they do the trick for me. -
December 15th is Banding day!!!
Pamalamadingdong replied to new@52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dec 15 is a popular day, I'm on the 14th so just a day ahead of everyone. I'm on day 4 of the liquids and its Ok most of the time, I have the biggest problems when my family is eating. That is tuff as I usually have to make dinner and then sit and talk to the kids while they eat, just so they can have the normalcy that we had before. My daughter is freaked by me doing this so I'm having to really do things I'd rather not do right now so she's comfortable. -
Something doesn't jive right with me about specific Pre-Op diet
Pamalamadingdong replied to TXNurse77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is crazy, some people have no preop diet other have a day or 3 others have a week some have 2 weeks yet others have 3 weeks? Makes you wonder why some require this tortureus diet so long before the surgery and others don't. I'm on day 3 and Its going to be a long 11 days before my surgery. -
sugar free carnation instant breakfast?
Pamalamadingdong replied to poppieswife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm hoping tomorrow will be better than today. Yeah I about threw up my lunch when I was finally able to eat. My surgery is the 14th, day after yours, looks like. -
sugar free carnation instant breakfast?
Pamalamadingdong replied to poppieswife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How much protien are you being told to have every day? I'm pretty much living on CIB, the sugar free stuff. I'm on day 2 of the liquid diet, and am not physically hungry at them moment and was suprised yesterday that I wasn't starving like I thought I would be, well my MIND said I was starving but my stomach disagreed. I was told to have been 60 and 80 grams and I had about 68 grams yestereday but have only managed about 53 today, but I had fasting blood work this morning and didn't get to eat until 12:30 and am just too sloshy full right now to "eat" anything else. -
December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
Pamalamadingdong replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gal bladder out about 2 years ago and it wasn't so bad, I was sore for a few days but nothing major. I'm having my band done on December 14th.
