OH I had the gas in the shoulder..badly..The BEST way to remove that gas.. is to MOVE.. I walked in circles in my house ( I was banded in December), just short little walks, and lo and behold the gas does go. When you have your surgery, they fill your belly with gas, sometimes the gas goes into spaces it shouldn't..and that most likely is your pain.. Take some deep cleansing breaths.. this too shall pass!! -

I have lost 27.5 in the long run, altho the day of surgery I gained 10, due to fluids, and I had to lose that a second time, which really bummed me, but not a hard 10 to lose.. I have to say that most days this is NOT hard to do..we made this decision to have the surgery.. no one forced us to do this.. we do/did this for US.. becauses we are ... WORTH it ladies.. so worth it!! -
My first experience getting food stuck
CiCiRN replied to Ivernous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
chicken is truly the culprit!! My first stuck was w/chicken, I probably ate too fast and BOING it was back up..I didn't eat chicken for a month..at least. A really tasty thing is canned white chicken, 6 ounces is great, a 1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese, 1 tbl of chopped onion, a spice like 'what's this' or mrs Dash, 1/2 roma tomato, or whole if you like. mix and eat. It is SO YUMMY! What's this is a spice that I found down south..I live in the north, so I order it online, if you like tasty..try it..DIVINE makes every thing taste wonderful.. -
Looking at myself and saying OH yeah I can do this..why would I have gone through all this..only to fail? no..I'm on this..it's the long haul and I'm barely out of the gate...lol

Thanks Joan, that is what I am hoping for! I think you are right at her being more conservative..I guess I am good with that..I wouldn't want to have an emergency deflate! -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?

I agree, and that's what I think too. Altho I know that if you are at the sweet spot, your band will be slightly swollen in the morning, and you can drink but not probably eat right away. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
CiCiRN replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 12/6/2010, I had my first fill in February. I have just 3.3 cc's in my regular lapband. When I had a fill a month ago, she put in just the .3 cc's. Which I thot was odd, up until then I had lost every visit. I have NOT found my sweet spot yet.. I can pretty much eat anything I want, I just eat slowly, taking about 20 minutes for each meal, and yes I feel hungry in between meals. I can eat and drink right after I get up in the morning, not a problem at all. I have a visit scheduled in the morning, I hope I get a titch more than I got last time. The day after my fill, I called back to the office and told them I felt like I had nothing added, I had to return, my doctor wasn't available, so I saw a colleague. He told me that if I was his patient I would have at least 5 cc's and that I shoudn't be able to eat for at least 4 hrs after waking.. So I need to step up and find out which is the right thinking.. what do you all think?? -
I love crab meat and it does it to me too! If I add it to a salad with a little light dressing, then I'm ok, but eat it with out..and STUCK... I can't eat bananas at all. No idea why!! I only have 2.75 cc's in my band, I was banded on Dec 6, 2010. I am down 30 and seem to be stuck right now.. I go back to the dr on the 5th of April and wonder if I will get more in my band.?

B)Hello All.. I was banded on Dec.6. 2010. Pre surigical diet was my biggest loss so far.lol I stared at 235, was 221 on surgery date, gained 10lbs with fluid from the surgery, lost that too, and am now at 209. I just keep waiting for the losing to kick in.. I have gotten 2.5 cc inserted, just 4 weeks ago.. so far I don't feel much of a restriction. When I went in for my appt , last week, I had lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks, so she didn't add any more fluid. I was kind of disappointed.. I know I have to WORK on exercising, which I am daily, and work on eating habits, which as all of you I struggle with..seems to be a normal thing.

So I got my first fill.. 2.5 cc's. She put in 3 and took .5 back out. It didn't hurt, which I didn't really think it would..thank God. LOL Down about 3 lbs since the fill a week ago. I think it would have been more, but we went out of town for the weekend and I ate Mexican..which went down really well..I only at the meat and veggies, and some salsa on the side. I was worried about it ..no need! LOL But overall I didn't do bad, didn't gain just stayed the same.. so this week I'm going to work harder at it..

Those who can't lose any weight after the band first few fills
CiCiRN replied to Kerimhann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my first fill and the first few days I thot this is great.. and now I just want to eat and eat.. Sat and contemplated this morning.. and I don't think at work I'm drinking enough.. so I graze.. Do others have this problem?? -
Really went awesome..everything is on track..they were happy with my weight. I changed my weight to their scale as truly that's what in the end is going to count! of course they weigh me with clothes on..I'm guessing that can make a difference...LOL will get my first fill in 4 weeks.. Started on mushies today..and am doing ok..have had no problems yet! Taking it one day at a time!

The amount of fluid in your band would be in your record from surgery, there is NO way that a prudent nurse would not look that up..seriously. To find out how much was in there would have been the first thing ..the other is she would have to just aspirate the fluid out with a 10 cc syringe and the answer would have been there. I was banded Dec 6 and have no fluid in my band, I won't have that added until in January AFTER I have healed.. I wish you LUCK!!

So I go back to work tomorrow.. and you bet I'm a little nervous! I'm an RN in the ER. so...I already talked with my paramedics, they are going to do the lifting, I'm still resticted to 20 lbs for lifting. New rule, no fluids at the ER desk.. so it will be a long night of me running back and forth to the break room..*sigh* but I'll get thru this.. hello? I got thru precertification I can get thru ANYTHING. LOL Have a grand protein filled weekend!!

I ended up having a hiatal hernia, which wasn't expected! So I was in the hospital for 2 days. I was off work about 10 days, which for some is too long, but just about right for me. I am still on a 20 lb weight restriction .But I go to the dr tomorrow for my first check up so I'll find out then how I'm doing! My doctor recommened about 2 weeks off, the port is sew directly into muscle so that' is about the sorest spot I have. To me it doesn't seem like you are off long at all...but everyone is different!

Banded 12/10 and on liquid diet
CiCiRN replied to LeesMimi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello~~ Have you tried broth? I listed some different types of shakes in my blog..sometimes just a change up will halp satisfy you. I havne't felt hungry, just smells make me hungry.LOL like pizza, a hamburger cooking...etc. I just change it up with broth, or watered down creamy soups to help stave off the craving, not hunger..and it passes.. I was banded Dec. 6 and have my first post op visit next week. I can't go to mushie till then. Making the most of it! My dr allows anything that will flow easily thru a straw as a liquid... Mandy, I was banded on Dec 6. Pretty sure it's gas, I still have some there too, and if I don't drink enough fluids in the day, it seems to flair up. My dr advises not to exercise until at least a month out, just walking around the house, I have a Wii too, and she said NO...don't want to strain and move that band. So you unless your dr advises to do something other than walk..I wouldn't. Do some shoulder movements when you walk, when you take your shower let the Water flow on it. I used warm packs also when I was at rest and that helps too. Do you do an incentive spirometer? that helps too.. Do you take any pain meds? Cindi
