Motivational help please?
Stephy5 replied to ShrinkyDinkyDoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YOU are going through alot, however now is a time for change. My biggest way I can help myself with my food is journaling. I use an app on my phone cause its easy. Msybe try that to help you know what you are putting in your body. Also if the doc seez your doing what you need he might be more encouraging. Also I think you should tell him all the stresses in your life and that your trying to find a balance. Good luck and it will get easier. One step at a time. Hang in there and when your hubby gets home you will be a new healthier, sexier you!!! -
Lap Band vs Gastric Sleeve
Stephy5 replied to dlucia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would stick with the band for sure. What if they decide in 20 years you need your whole stomach. That is my worry. Also I have 5 friends who have had the VS in the last 5 months. They lose ALOT of weight very fast. But honestly they look like crap. People ask me all the time if those people have had surgery and will say "you can tell" Than say to me they should do it "on their own" like you did. Than I tell them I had Lap and they are like oh. It is cause my lap makes it slower and my body has time to adjust. Also you can't live on 600 cals a day. Just my opinion. -
I notice right before I get full I get the hiccups. Burping is much different now. Its funny you controlled it for so long, now be free. Oh and I do have restriction. <3 Stephanie

I log using an app called Caorie counter by Fatsecret. The apps are very easy. But paper works also. hehe I log most days, but the days I dont arent very good days. Good luck

Head Hunger Vs True Hunger
Stephy5 replied to tab1975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Head hunger is a bad old and hard habit to break. Trying chewing sugarledd gum, drink Water or go on a walk. If I have tried those things and Im still hungry than I will eat something small. Good luck! -
Hi I have been banded almost three months. I had last fill just about a month ago. I have noticed this week when I eat I feel super full for 3or 4hours. I mean lead brick full. I am only eating a very small amount, but wondering if I'm eating to much. How much should I be eating at a time?

Had a pretty bad stuck episode and now have question?
Stephy5 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last night I had a rough stuck episode. I got stuck on steak. I chewed the heck out of it, but think I ate to fast and WHAM stuck big time. I dont scare easily, but it hurt so bad it scared me. Anyway I got it moving within 1/2 hour by moving in different positions. I am just on liquids and soft food, like yogurt today. My question is I fell like I have had an unsettled stomach since than, is this normal or do you think I could have slipped my band? Thanks for any advice -
Had a pretty bad stuck episode and now have question?
Stephy5 replied to Stephy5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone tolerates different foods. I have eaten steak one other time since bring banded no problem. But last fill gave me more restriction so Im guessing I cant anymore. I cant eat bread at all since banding -
I am so excited! I weighed in this morning and I am officially down 40 lbs!!! 18 before surgery 22 after. I was banded 1/19/11 and it was the first day of the rest of my life. I had my second fill on Friday and hope that really helps me get this going. I have 70 lbs to go!

Had a pretty bad stuck episode and now have question?
Stephy5 replied to Stephy5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone. I did go get some tums and was on liquids and super soft foods today and will do the same tomorrow. I had upset stomach until this afternoon! Your advice is super appreciatef -
Is this for real!!!!!!
Stephy5 replied to guyguys1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also dont assume its doing nothing. When I started eating, even with an empty band things would go down rough. It will all come together. Good luck! -
Going on 8 months banded and just starting to work it!

Very nice to hear these kinds of experiences. Thanks for sharing and congrats!!! -
I had my second fill a few weeks ago. I think I have 2.3 cc's in a 10cc band. At first I was hungry all the time but got full quickly. Now I am noticing I am,never hungry and things are getting stuck pretty easily. Which of course I know I need to chew even more. But has anyone ecperienced this and would you say its delayed restriction? Or is something else going on? Thanks for your comments.

Wow good luck!!!! My doctor wants me between 1000-1200 cals a day. But I had my second fill the other day and so far I haven't had more than 800. I hope this part of your journey is easier for you! This is quite a journey

lapband or bypas? I need help to decide,
Stephy5 replied to mm0142's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My only opinion is do your research and see what you can live with. Each surgery has its own challenges and potential problems. Make sure you know what it is going to take to keep yourself healthy. Not just losing weight. I lost my sister as a complication to a bypass surgery and honestly it was all her fault, she choose not to take care of herself the way she needed to and had a doctor who didn't guide her well. As for erosion, I talked to several doctors in my area and they all said the same thing, there was a higher rate in the old version of the band. The newer version, Yes it still can happen but it happens a whole lot less. Good luck on making your decision and keep us posted. -
DROID AP FOR FOOD LOG??? ANYONE HAVE ONE???
Stephy5 replied to MOMIOF3CV's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
calorie Counter by fat secret is the Best!!!! -
I just had my second fill since surgery and wow it is different so far. I hope it stays this way. I didn't feel to much after my first. Mostly stuff just got stuck easier. But hunger and amount of food was about the same. What size band do you have and how much fill did you get? Hang in there you are doing great and you will continue!

No drinking through a straw?
Stephy5 replied to NewBandit95's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having a problem drinking from a bottle or cup and getting air around my band, so doc said try a straw....But to make sure I wasnt sucking air. I had no problems. But I always say listen to your doc. -
Just need to vent I guess. This has been a week I can feel my old habits trying to come back. It is that time of the month, no bueno! I feel like my husband has forgotten I really need his help. I have 4 friends that have had Vertical sleeve surgey lately and none of them understand my procedure and they are losing so fast it is frustrating. Life is busy with my kids nd their sports I have re-adjusted my workouts for the morning time. I haven't lost much weight at all lately and that is frustrating. Getting another fill next week and hoping that will put some pep back in my step. So if you have had a funk, how have you gotten yourself out of it????? Thanks Stephanie
-
Such good advice. Thank you! I did decide today to just that, Pick myself up and brush myself off. I did find out my thyroid is messed up again and that is part of my funk. But I am comparing my journey with people who have had the sleeve. I had to remind myself that I didn't choose the sleeve for a reason and I chose the band with all its different-ness. haha I do have to start doing stuff for myself. Thanks everyone, your advice is really helpful!

Yeah I have been excited to start one of these!!!! Thanks
