    Having a bit of pain

I'm 4.5 months post-op, I've lost 40 pounds. I'm on the slow side, but I like it that way since I don't seem to have the baggy skin problems that seem to go with rapid weight lose. However, I've been having a sharp pain near where the band should be located when I eat hard solids like chicken. I was concerned that I may be getting an ulceration. I put myself on soft foods and protein drinks today to see how it goes, and so far no pain. Has anyone had this kind of problem? If you had band errosion, how did you know?

    just a question

My first 40 pounds came off with little exercise, mainly with diet control and keeping to the 30 grams/day of non-vegtable carbohydrates...not that I haven't slipped here and there. Now that I'm closing in on 200 lbs, I'm needing to exercise some to punch it up a notch...but at least now I can do the exercising!

Pre op, dietician, and met the dr...oh my!

I was at a bmi of 38%, 247.8 lbs, but with congestive heart failure and early onset of Type II diabestes and only 46 yo. I had someone tell me I wasn't 'fat' enough to get lap-banded (she had been more than a 150 lbs overweight when she had it done), but I said that my health was deteriorating and my weight steadily going up...I didn't want to wait until my risk for dying during the operation increase significantly...I saw where I was going and I decided to stop the trend. Lap-banding is a tool, it helps you control some actions, but it isn't going to stop you from eating the bad stuff like ice cream or mashed potatos and gravey. As long as you looking forward with the right frame of mind, I saw go for it!
