I was banded Oct 19, 2010. My husband lost his job shortly thereafter and I fell completely off the wagon. I couldnt afford my fills so I just gave up. I am in a much better place for me now and I really want to start back over. What do I do? I am terrified and ashamed to go back to my surgeon. I feel no restriction anymore and I know a need a fill. I refuse to be a failure anymore. I sure could use some prayers for strength and confidence and some suggestions right now. Thank y'all so much.

Flintstones. My kids and I have tried, I believe, every chewable mulitvitamin on the market. Flintstones don't leave that nasty aftertaste. Good luck!! Lowpockets68 -
Anyone cheat on pre-op diet
Lowpockets68 replied to cbreeden28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Cynsayshun My pre-op diet is for 4 weeks. ( I wish it was just 2) My surgery date is 10/19. I can tell you from experience that I did cheat early on. I'm not proud of it but I'm not ashamed of it either. I am just human. The key is to get back on the wagon and stay on a "eating (drinking)" schedule regardless of where you are and who you are with. Don't reason it away to make yourself feel better. Just say, "OK, I back-slid. Tomorrow is a new day and I CAN DO THIS !!!!!" YOU CAN DO THIS!!! I'm proud of us for getting this far. It's really hard. I know it is. Hold your head up high and work hard. You are worth it. God bless you! Good luck!!! Lowpockets69 -

October Bandsters!!!
Lowpockets68 replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone I just found out that my surgery date is Oct. 26. WAHOOOOO !!!!! I started my journey in January of this year being really excited. I think I have worked through every emotion that ever was during that last few months. Now that I am a month out I am TERRIFIED!!!! I'm not having second thoughts but just scared of the unknown I guess. My doctor is a little different. I have to do a 4 week liquid diet. This is going to be interesting... (just sayin') I am so glad that I am not going through this journey alone. Thanks to all for the tips and tricks to help make this a successful journey. -

Suggestions Please --- PCP won't help with 6 mth diet
Lowpockets68 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Can anyone offer any suggestions? My PCP suggested I look into WLS 8 months ago. I did the research, went to meetings, and spoke with everyone that I could find. I decided that the Lap Band was what I really wanted and needed to do. When I went back to my pcp for my bi-annual BP check I brought up the topic of WLS and what I had found. She was all for it if this was what I wanted. However, she will not help me on my journey. My PCP says that her office only deals with one weight loss group in my area of NC. I met with that group when I did my original research and did not care for the surgeon or the office staff. My insurance requires that I have 6 months of a structured diet supervised by my PCP and a dietician. My PCP will not supervise this diet because I did not choose her affiliated surgeon. She will provide any records that are required but not the supervision that I need. Now what do I do? I found a surgeon whom I truly like and like the program his office offers. But I have to have this supervision required by my insurance. They will not budge. I called and spoke with them explaining the situation. They did wish me good luck! I am very frustrated... I felt sooooo good about my decision but now... Thanks for any suggestions -
Not banded yet but researching... Help please!

Hi... I have been researching the Lap-Band®® system for several months now and am 99.9% sure that this is what I need to do. My insurance, Highmark BCBS, will cover this surgery provided that all of their guidelines are met. I understand that and I understand with all but one. I can't get ANY clarification from BCBS. One of their requirements is 6 consecutive months of structured nutrition and exercise program. I can't get them to clarify exactly what they are looking for. Do I need a nutritionist and a personal trainer? I'm not made of money. If I was I could self pay. I just don't understand. Can anyone help? My PCP says that until I can get that clarified she won't refer me to a Lap-Band®® program. SOOOOOO discouraged!:blushing: Thanks sooo much for any imput! -

Thank you all so much for your help and encouragement! I thought I understood when I started this research that it would be an interesting journey... It just seems a shame that the insurance company can dictate how your doctor can treat you medical needs. Oh well... such is life. Thanks again to all!!! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
