Banded on Dec 29th, 2010
susansb replied to collins33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Dec 20 and lost 11 lbs pre-op and 23 lbs since. I feel pretty fantastic and will be thrilled with 1-2 lbs a week consistently. There is no quick fix and it takes a lot of work but I am up for the challenge! Best of luck to my fellow Dec bandsters!! -

You need to eat!!! Can you get Protein shakes down, chicken broth, greek yogurt? When you move onto mushies - low fat chili and more Soups. Can puree chicken and put it in the soup. -
I am also 2 weeks post op and see the doctor tomorrow for my follow up. That is a great recipe and I am going to have to try it! I have been eating a lot of chile and soups. Follow my blog at https://diaryofalapbandmom.com.

1st Day Post Op

It could also be dehydration - I know it is hard but keep sipping the little cups of water. It will get better! -
Hang in there - it truly gets better!!!

Can someone explain the Week 3 plateau?
susansb replied to Dave_NW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you are doing terrific and should be thrilled with your weight loss. It is not reasonable to expect to lose 1 lb a day for any sustained time period. Initial weight loss is water weight. I was told to expect 1-2 lbs a week if you followed all the rules. I guess you could bump it up by exercising more - you didn't mention that - are you working out? -
I felt the same way!!! Don't beat yourself up. More important is you are doing something to address it. Check out my blog at https://diaryofalapbandmom.blogspot.com

One week post op appt
susansb replied to amber2604's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lizzzz, I had my surgery a week ago and the gas pains are gone but I have modest swelling still. Also having a hard time going to the bathroom. Are you allowed soups? That might shake things up and help with hunger. -
Hang in there! I felt the same way and now just a couple of days later I am doing much better!

No Weight Loss on Full Liquids
susansb replied to dktqrmj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Monday - the 20th and am about the same weight - maybe up 0.5 lbs but I know it is from the fluids. Can't wait to see that big drop! -
Can't believe it is almost here! I wish I were first thing in the morning but there is something nice knowing that in the morning I won't be crazy and can get my kids off to school before I leave for the hospital. Good luck to everyone! See you on the other side. Susan

Went for Pre-Op Testing - One Week Countdown Begins!
susansb posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is one week away! I actually can't wait and haven't even had cravings for the "last meal" yet. I have been reading so many blogs and books - just started "Fighting Weight" by Khaliah Ali and really good. Also started a blog for anyone who wants to follow. I think it will help me a lot on this journey. https://diaryofalapbandmom.blogspot.com. Wishing everyone who is going to be banded this week luck! Susan -
I went for my pre-op testing today. My surgery is at 3:00 pm on the 20th. Not happy about the time but not going to let it bother me. Just very excited! Doing well on the pre-op diet. Started a blog - follow me at https://diaryofalapbandmom.blogspot.com. I have been reading all these amazing blogs and it is so helpful. I think if I start one it will be a great way to document the journey. I am not sure I am as good a writer as some but will just put down my feelings and do my best.

Hi everyone! I am on day 4 and also starving!!!! Surgery on the 20th. Plus I have only lost 1 lb which is discouraging. I think if I saw the scale going down it would offset the hunger. Are you already losing?

Hi Catherine - I see I am not the only one who is so inspired and impressed by your blog and weight loss! You should be so proud of yourself!

Weight loss during Pre-Op Diet
susansb replied to lucky13girl4652's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you should talk to your doctor because there are a lot of pre-op diets that allow 800-1200 calories a day and you would likely be able to tolerate that better. I am only on day 2 but it is tough! I do get to eat lean protein - 4 ounces and vegetable and even a bit of starch for my dinner. I am on a business trip though which makes it even harder. -
Surgery Date Confirmed - Dec 21st...Happy New Year to Me!!!
susansb replied to karewpah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to have met all of you! I started this morning and my surgery is on the 20th. I have 3 little boys at home and I need to do this to not only keep up with them but to be here for them. I am hoping seeing the scale move down for a change will get me through the hunger! And will be on this board a lot for support. Wishing everyone luck! Susan -
