I'm 1 wk post op band to sleeve and for the last day and a half I have had some pain on my lower right side. It almost feels like I have a stitch in my side from running without drinking enough Water. It comes and goes and I don't think it's anything crazy but I was wondering if anyone had experienced this pain. Just wanted to throw it out here. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My Bariatric team actually called to check up on me and they say the pain was normal. The nurse said there is a deep stitch down on the lower right side and it's probably just pulling. Thanks guys Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

In the short term it's the only thing that really scares me. When it was taken out did that hurt? Did it feel weird knowing it was hanging out of your insides? What is the general experience of it? I'm worried but not stressed about surgery to much more than normal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Did anyone else pre surgery get horrible reflux from Protein drinks to the point it felt like a heart attack? I get it so bad that I can't drink any protein powders. I have tried so many. It started as just a small issue when I had the band for a little while and then by about 3yrs post op I had to stop drinking them all together because it became so painful, with nausea, sweating, shaking, rapid heart rate, feeling like a had a giant rock in my throat, etc.... Did anyone with the bypass have this issue before surgery and not have it after? I'm hoping with the separation of the digestive juices the issue will go away. Old Timers-What is the point of WLS if many regain/have hunger/diet drama..
Doc'sWife replied to Anna Nim's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Even if you only get to 60-75% of the excess weight off with the surgery it puts you in a fantastic spot to be able to do the rest "on your own". If your following your doctors program then you should know how and what to eat at that point and be able to work on your head hunger and still be proud of yourself. That is still over half the weight gone. These surgeries are merely tools to help you reach your goals, you still have to put in the work no matter what you choose. It's great that he's worried about you but I think you should take him to a support group and encourage him to answer these questions there, it could be very insightful for both of you. Aweful Reflux with protein powders
Doc'sWife replied to Doc'sWife's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
What symptoms did you have with your reflux? It's hard to gauge what is normal because when I told my dr about it he kind of looked at me like I was crazy and said he had never heard of that kind of reaction to protein powders Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

My revision is getting closer and closer! I have an upper GI tomorrow, psych eval today and they got my sleep study results back and I don't have any issues. I've been going to the support groups for the hospital as needed and whenever someone finds out I'm a revision from band they always assume that I hated my band. I don't think ppl understand how much I loved my band, it gave me a whole new life. I'm actually scared of getting the bypass Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My daughter wasn't very picky since she wasn't exclusive for very long but a friend of mine had a hard time weening. She used a supplemental nursing system and started introducing her LO t formula while nursing. I have seen them for $15 or so online. Idk if it will help but I started giving my LO rice Cereal at 3 months because she always seemed hungry Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Unfortunate I would suggest stopping first. You take in so few calories when you do the pre op diet and post op that your body is really going to struggle producing milk. Plus with how restricted you will be for months after until you reach your "normal" it will be hard to get all the nutrients you need for your body let alone the calories and nutrients to provide to baby. I was only banded for 2 yrs before j had my LO and I had a hard time with supply. I did the best I could but I had to supplement and then stop completely. I just couldn't supply enough. The process to get WLS can take 2-4 months, sometimes longer so that would give both you and your new baby time to adjust to the switch. Congrats and goo luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks! I know when I had my band pills weren't an option until about bed time and if I took them to close I couldn't lay down for about an hour after. I wasn't sure how pill would work with the bypass and when I saw these I got excited lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
