Has anyone noticed your band allowing you to eat more when you've had a drink or two? I don't drink much but i have noticed on the past 2 occasions i've had a beer or a glass of wine I semm to be able to eat more. I've got pretty good restriction, but after a glass of Chianti at dinner the other night I was able to eat my entire meal which never happens anymore!

Had A Slight Unfill Now Feel Like I'm Going To Fail..
Hydun2 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a small fill in January .6 cc's. All was well for a couple of weeks and then all of a sudden I got pretty tight the past 2 weeks or so. Went back for my follow up today and they took out .4 cc's. I was only able to drink warm liquids in the morning and then for lunch had Soup. Sometimes i was able to eat tunafish or a light flaky fish, but any other meat was out of the question. In the six weeks I lost according to their scale only 10 lbs. I think it was more like 12-14 lbs because this time I weighed with my boots on and I had attempted to eat a Cup of Noodles prior to my appt. This soup always makes me bloated and I could tell my rings were tight. Now that they have removed the Fluid things are going down much easier. I'm scared that it's too easy and my old habits will creep back in. I know it's a new lifestyle and I have to show control, but I'm still scared that I won't be able to. I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that I wasn't able to eat much the past week or so, and see if maybe it would loosen up again on it's own. I really think that around my time of the month the band tightens quite a bit. I hope i'm not on a road to failure, i'm sure going to try to go the other way but i'm scared. Just needed to vent thank you for letting me do that! Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated! -
My port is directly above my belly button, and I too tend to rest things on it. I also have sensitivity in that area, especially after a fill. Doesn't really hurt at the injection site, but lower like actually in the belly button. It's weird, but I attribute it to scar tissue and healing. I was banded in May 2011.

Hello! I am 5 months po and down about 40 lbs since the day of surgery. I lost about 10 lbs prior.... I had some slow going over the past 2 months, but I got my 2nd fill last week, and now the weight seems to be melting away again. Not sure how long it will last though. I was really tight for the first 6 days after the fill, which was 1 cc, but I seemed to have loosened up and can eat solid food again. Still keeping my portions way down, and the hunger doesn't come as frequently. Good luck to you all!!

Mine didn't hurt, they did numb the area before they actually did the fill. I would say it was more odd than anything, you don't know what to expect until you are there. Mine was quick and easy, not sure if it was enough, but like my P.A said the first fill is rarely the correct amount. So I may be visiting them again soon.

I had my first fill today and only got 1 cc! I was scared to go tighter, I didn't want to be one of those people in the waiting room vomiting the water they make you drink!! I can go back for more next week if I think I need it, so we'll see how it goes! I was told I can eat normally, no liquid diet for the next day or so, I just have to be careful with my first meal. I guess each doc is different. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Appetite and fear of stretching pouch
Hydun2 replied to band29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm about 3 weeks post op and feel the same way. As a matter of fact i just heard my stomach growl. I eat small meals about 5- 6times a day which is what my dr told me to do. I also found that sometimes just getting up and moving around helps. I'm not sure why that is, maybe my stomach knows i'm getting bored and is trying to trick me into eating.... I get my first fill next week so i'm pretty excited about that! Good luck! I'm sure you'll be fine, just eat lots of protein!! -
It is the responibility of the doctor to request the authorization. If they fail to do this and see you anyway the claim will be denied and it will have to be written off by the doctor per their contract with BCBS. I'm not sure as to why they are now putting it in your responsibility, they shouldn't. I would call the physician's office to see if they have appealed the matter with BCBS.

Please tell me this feeling goes away... I am 16 days post-op and when i eat no matter how much or how little, I feel like I have a lump in my throat that the food can't get past. I'm on mostly mushy food now and it's uncomfortable for me to eat. Does this have to do with my hiatal hernia repair? Does it go away? Anyone else have this problem? Also the scale hasn't moved in a week!! I'm only getting about 800 calories a day! Shouldn't I still be losing something?

First off good for you for joining a gym and somewhat enjoying it!! I would advise working with a trainer at least once to get a routine. Usually they give you a trainer at no charge when you first start to show you how to work on the machines. Use that perk if available. Good Luck!

i was told to remove the bandages the next day. i kept them on an extra day for good measure lol. I was also told to let the steri strips fall off on their own, and if they were still there at day 10 to remove them myself which i did today. Good luck!

Using straws to drink in the first couple of weeks
Hydun2 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc says not to use straws for the first 4 weeks... Is this only because of the gas? Could it cause harm? I'm finding it much easier to get my liquids in with straws, especially the protein shakes. I'm 1 week post-op by the way.
