    Throwing up white foam?!?

I tell you. I read these post for months before my surgery and I saw VERY little bad stuff. NOW, it seems I see it all the time? Really don't understand this? YES, I am 27 days out from gastric bypass surgery and I have been foaming and vomitting for the past 7 days. I was scoped and stretched on the 22nd and it helped for ONE day, then on Christmas Eve I spent the night in the bathroom HEAVING. It was so beyond awful. Mine was so bad we had to page the doctor on Christmas eve. I did ok on the 25th and 26th but now on the 27th I am foaming and heaving all over again. I tell you, I am exhausted. Once I get past this it is Clear Liquids only for about a week. I am so tired at this point. AND, I am eating NOTHING I should not be eating. UGH
  2. Well, I am 2 weeks out from surgery. It was NOT easy. I don't want to scare anyone but just be prepared that it will be tough for a short period of time. I was fine until Day 2 at night, stomach pains became unbearable. I was up walking the halls of the hospital. The drugs put your bowels to sleep and you have to wake them up so you can let gas. Burping does not help, you have to let gas. Do everything your doctors tell you. Day 3 was really tough for me. I was in a lot of pain. Day 4 slightly better, Day 5 started to do much better. By day 8, I was feeling pretty good. I think the only thing that got me through was knowing the Day 2-4 would be TOUGH, and it was. I did not take any of the pain narcotic upon leaving the hospital. I did take a gel cap tylenol every 4 hours for 2 days and then started backing off those. By day 4 at home I was off all pain meds. I did not take the narcotic as it makes your bowels sleep is what I was told and I wanted the gas OUT. Getting rid of the gas and having a bowel movement is what made me feel better. On day 14, I am 18 pounds down. Total down so far is 31 pounds, pre diet and after surgery. I walk EVERY day 10,000 steps. It is perfect for me as my local starbuck is right at 5000 steps from my house. I walk up there, have a herb tea, hang out, and walk home. Listen to your doctors and eat NOTHING you are not supposed to eat.
  3. I am 5 days post sugary, gastric bypass. It is NOT easy. I finally today am feeling a little bit better. I keep telling myself that this period is going to be HELL but follow the program and it will be ok. I had to meditate through the pain at times. Tomorrow I am going to begin with a 2000 step walk. I was feeling low today also but then I got a recipe book in the mail that really lifted my spirits. The food in it looks amazing. Really good looking stuff but prepared in a high Protein low calorie way. I have NOT read the entire book yet but I know the future will look brighter. I have not yet had a chance to read it but I did thumb through it. A GREAT looking pizza recipe in there and I can't wait to try it. Book is: recipes for after weight loss surgery, revised and updated by Margaret Furtado. There are so many amazing looking recipes in there. Pizza, Humus, Sausage and Lentil Soup, Latkes, crab cakes, stroganoff. Looks amazing and the book is loaded with pictures and lots of wonderful looking stuff. I am actually excited and it lifted my spirits. One example recipe is below. AGAIN, I have not read the entire book so I am not sure at what stage I can start this but it is promising. I was miserable but 5 days after surgery I am finally feeling better. Sharing one of the recipes in the book. Pita Pizza: 284 calories. 25.6 grams protein. Makes 4. 4 small 4 inch whole wheat pita breads. 1 can 6 0z, low sodium tomato paste 1 teaspoon dry oregano 1 teaspoon dry basil 1 teaspoon dried thyme 4 tablespoons grated parm cheese 1 cup cooked boneless skinless chicken breast cut into small cubes. Or, chicken italian sausage, or ground meat. 1/2 cup fresh slices mushrooms 1 can, 2.5 oz sliced black olives 3/4 cup (85g) shredded part skim mozzarella cheese Oven 375. Lightly spray a sheet pan with cooking spray. Put on all toppings and bake aprox 15 minutes. Picture of the pizzas look AMAZING. NOW, I have to say I have not read the entire book yet so I am not sure when this recipe can be used but it is good to know that down the road a healthy pizza is possible. Looking through this book raised my spirits. John

  6. I am home. VERY tough. Stomach very sore, still have not passed gas so buildup in the abdomen is very painful. This surgery is tough. I am sure that a few days from now I will feel better but right now I am miserable. Walking, focusing on Fluid and Protein intake.

How Many Guys Are On This App

Hey, I am on here. John in Jacksonville Florida. Today is my day 4. TOUGH. I am simply focusing on getting through the stomach pain. I have not passed gas yet and I am very much looking forward to that. Gas buildup in my abdomen is awful. Got in an egg, 1 oz applesauce and the 4 pills; vitamin, antixox, calcium. It was TOUGH getting that all in. The pureed egg with a bit of skim milk to soften was TERRIBLE. I have been looking for some recipies that people are enjoying during puree stage. This is tough!
  8. This is NOT for the faint of heart. This is TOUGH. I did really good the first 2 days in hospital but night of day two was a different story. The gas build up in my stomach became intensely painful. I walked laps around the hospital floor trying to get it to move with no success. Stomach is extremely sore. I was asked last night if I made the right choice and I know that right now is not the time to answer this. I will just say this is really tough. First full day home and just working on liquids, getting in the Vitamins, eating pureed foods, Protein. Also, walking around still trying to kick my bowels into action. I am really looking forward to these next two days going by as I am sure I will feel better soon. Struggling right now.

    Feeling hungry

surgery went much better than I expected. I never got sick. Some pain from the incisions but with meds, very tolerable. I expected to feel different internally but I feel exactly the same. I am pleased so far. Today walked 20 laps at about 5000 steps. Drank 100 oz doing about 10 ounces every hour. I like the broth also. I am well on my way.

    Feeling hungry

Today is my surgery and though I dont know what the next year brings for me, I do know that we all have to manage head hunger vs real hunger. I am hoping I can tell the difference. Everyone tells me that if I want to eat AND I have eaten my required meals, to go for a walk instead and this helps? I hope you will be ok.

I am nervous, anxious, excited about the surgery and it is approaching fast. Current as of this morning is 291, 44 Jeans. Goal is 175 and jean size ???? 34? I am very active and getting this extra 100 pounds off will be life altering. I look forward to following this group forum. John
