  1. Congratulations, Veronica! You are on your way to a wonderful and exciting journey! I'm 5 weeks out since banding and feel wonderful. My weight loss seems to have stalled this week (down 25 pounds), but I'm getting my first fill next Tuesday. I can't wait! Keep us posted about your surgery date, etc.
  2. Unfortunately, I can't make it tonight either. I'll also hang around this thread to see when the next meeting will be.

OK to sleep on my port side?

I experienced the same problems. I had my surgery on January 17th, and I'm happy to report that I can now sleep on my left side without any problems at all. It was too painful in the beginning for me to sleep on either side and, like you, sleeping on my back gave me back spasms. Just give it some time and you'll be sleeping better again.
  4. I'm so glad I found you guys! I was banded on January 17th and am thrilled to hear there are so many others in our area that are on the same journey I am on. I plan on attending the meeting of the Bandsters (woo hoo!) on Monday, February 5th. See you then. Carol

    How much can you eat.....

BetsyJane: I live in Humble and saw your update for the first support group meeting. I am being banded on January 17th, but would love to get started with a support group. Where are you meeting on January 15th?
  6. I am scheduled to be banded on January 17th, and I must admit that I'm getting nervous. I have to be on a liquid diet for 7 days, which begins tomorrow.:cry I think the hardest thing for me post-op is going to be no carbonated beverages. I start each day with a Diet Coke! I don't regret my decision to be banded, but I think my nervousness comes from not knowing how I'm going to feel after surgery. I'm planning on going back to work on the Monday following my Wednesday surgery. Is that too soon? Do I really have to wait 4-6 weeks to get my first fill? I know my body needs time to heal, but didn't y'all get hungry during that 4-6 week period? I'm afraid I'll feel defeated during that 4-6 week period if I gain weight. I'm seeing my doctor this Thursday, and I'm prepared with a ton of questions, but it helps so much to read about those of you who have gone through this already. I'll gladly take to heart any advice you can give!

    January Bandsters???

I am being banded on January 15th. I've been through my psych consultation, nutrition consultation and sleep study, but I still have to have my upper GI. I have to do a liquids diet for 7 days prior to surgery, which I'm worried about more than the actual surgery! This is an awesome website, and it helps so much to read about people who have actually been through the process (or who are about to go through the process). I'm so glad to have found a thread where people are being banded around the same time that I am. It will be so helpful to compare notes after our respective surgeries. Count me in as a member of the "too-greedy-to-give-up-the-holidays-before-banding" boat!
