Yes, I count everything i eat. I use My Fitness Pal. There is a huge database of most foods but you can also create your own foods by listing the ingredients you use and you can adjust how much you had. So, applesauce is usually a 4 ounce serving. If you only eat half, you would change the serving to 0.5 for half. I also bought a food scale and I measure out all of my food. On My Fitness Pal, you can also use your smartphone to scan the barcode of any food label and it will automatically load the numbers for you! Hope that helps!

I can now sort of gulp water too. I can do about 5 swallows in a row which I am thankful for. Its much easier for me to get my water in that way. You may not have restriction with pureed either. Puree is supposed to be thin like applesauce and applesauce goes down easily for me. For some people, they only feel restriction with solid foods. I'm on soft foods and I have restriction with refried beans and deli meat. I start burping which is my warning to stop eating although I absolutely measure out ALL of my food so as not to overeat. Go through the steps as laid out for you. Just don't rely on feeling full as your sign to stop. We don't need to be full, just not hungry. Meausre out everything according to your guidelines and know that it is indeed filling your sleeve. Some people are able to reach their nut and ask about moving through to the next stage sooner if they are doing well. Might as well try. All they can say is no. Good luck!

You will get through this donaboss!! We had major surgery! Can you sleep some with the head of the bed higher to help with the gas until you can walk? It can totally stink for the first week or few, but the rest of our lives will be better! Hang in there!

I have had dreams of me running! lol However, I got this surgery because over the last year, my knee and hip have been hurting so bad. Hopefully I didn't cause long-lasting damage being so heavy! I really enjoy hiking. By hiking, I mean walking the trails at different state parks. I love being outside with nature and usually prefer to do it alone. Lots of thinking can go on during that time. Plus, once on a trail, you kind of have to finish it. I get lost in thought and the changing scenery and really enjoy it. Plus, walking on dirt is so much easier on your feet and back than walking on the sidewalk or street. I would also like to try yoga at some point. I'm not usually one for classes. I will join a gym soon for weights but will hope to get my cardio outside.

My bed is really high too. The first 3 nights, I slept in a recliner. After that, I got tired of sitting in the recliner all day and sleeping in it at night. I keep a foot stool by the bed and was able to step up, sit on the side and swing my legs over to sleep on my back. When getting out of bed, pull your knees up towards your chest and roll onto your side and then push yourself up to a sitting position. I was sleeved on the 13th. My pain is finally subsiding. I have it mostly now when I slouch over when sitting. It does get better. Food doesn't interest me either. Nothing tastes great anymore, but I'm glad about that. It keeps me from WANTING to eat. I now just eat because it's time to eat. I'm focusing on thinly sliced deli meats as they have a lot of protein in them (i'm on the soft stage and deli meats are allowed). I have one shake in the morning and then around 3 ounces of meat for lunch and dinner with some cheese sticks in between. I had a gain too last week. It has slowly crept back down, but no losses yet in over a week. It will come though. It has to!

I think none of it makes sense but it's all normal! I gained weight last week. I was sleeved on the 13th. It took a whole week for that pound to crawl down by ounces and then sit for a few days. I'm now down .6 pounds. I'll take it. It has to come off at some point. It is very tough the first few weeks. No matter how prepared we think we are, we don't really understand until we actually go through it. I went through mental issues that I just knew I woupdnt. It's all a process and as ling as we keep to our programs, we will each get through it. Keep your head up and hang in there. I know starting back to work is rough.

So far my Dr. says 1/4 cup max on everything. I have not hit a internal full feeling on 1/4 cup of anything. Does anyone know our eventual limit or size of a meal? 1/4 cup seems very small even to my new tummy! I can do half a cup on something wet and mushy like goulash (although with it having noodles, I won't be having that very much longer) and thicker soups. I can only do 1/4 cup of refried Beans with sour cream and cheese. I can do between 2/5 and 3 ounces of shaved deli meat. My stages say soft foods weeks 2, 3 and 4; meal size ~1/2 cup and then week 5 and beyond gradualy introduce solid foods; meal size ~3/4 cup. Not sure when I'll get up to that since right now my more solid foods are more around 1/2 cup.

I think I've been in a stall, over a week with no recordable loss. Week 2 postop (but had a 2 week preop). I went up 2 pounds and then climbed back down by ounces and stayed for a couple of days. Just today am finally down 0.6 from my lowest over a week ago. We'll see if it's truly broken tomorrow! Hang in there!

Thanks so much! Sorry there was a bit of a lag there. My recovery started great and then backtracked for a bit! Things are great now! Tomorrow is 2 weeks postop. Did anything change in your diet yesterday? When the doc made all of these changes in my meds friday to try to get me some relief, that is when I felt the worst. Then today, I went back to basics, no new meds and no new foods, and I did pretty well. Are you mobile? I also found that reclining while drinking really made me feel bad. Although my stomach is sore in the upright position, I feel better from a nausea standpoint if I drink that way. I also had 2 very bad days and both days I added Mio to my Water. It was tasty, but both days I felt bad...so will no longer try those. What about BM? Although I was not constipated, I had not gone in about 5 days. Took some Milk of Magnesia yesterday and cleared things out. I think that helped too.

Thank you so much! It was really rough. It stunk because I did so well the first 3 days. The numbing they do during surgery really does wear off. The initial pain, I could deal with. The new pain was unbearable and then to add nausea to it! Whew. Anyway, hopefully all of that is in the past!

I finally feel human again! Ugh...as bad as it was, I feel so much better today, day #9. So far no nausea today. I'm on my second shake. Even some ounces of water went down fine. So glad! Pain has greatly reduced to tolerable. I'm so sorry I was not able to keep the list updated for everyone else having surgery this past week and into this week. Good luck and speedy recoveries to everyone going tomorrow! Welcome to all of the new folks! I'm able to move to soft foods this week. Tried soup yesterday, but was a bad day in general. I don't think it was soup related. I will try either the ricotta bake or some refried beans tomorrow. I'm down 27 pounds in just over 3 weeks (with a 2 week preop).
