The best for me was to puree whatever my family was having for supper. One of my favorites is chicken breast cooked in the crockpot with salsa. I chop it real good after cooking and I add in some fat free sour cream.

What could you not live without that first few weeks.
MOMW replied to manderdjs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A regular blender, small storage containers, toddler silverware and plates were my must haves. The chapstick too. The first few days a pillow was my friend too. I walked around holding it. If you haven't invested in 3 pill holders, you may want to. They help me make sure that I take my meds and supplements each day and at the right time. -
As you read here in the forums, what you are experiencing is cert typical at your stage. Your body is adjusting and is trying to protect itself from starving. Don't get too discouraged and keep on the path. Very soon you will see the results. Follow your bariatric's team recommendations and don't make any radical changes right now. Hang in there, you are worth it.

A lot of us go through that final meal stage. We think we have to eat all those things that we think we will never eat again. Do your best.

One thing for home is make sure you have a regular blender, not a magic bullet type, little storage containers, for all your leftovers, measuring spoons. I also used toddler spoons and toddler size plates. They help you eat slower and your plate does not look so empty.

I was glad I took chap stick. Don't forget your chargers. You may want to take your own slippers, pjs, toothbrush, pillow. I always prefer my own.

I can't do cookies either as that are a trigger for me too. My go to sweet snack is low fat peanut butter. It is sweet but also a source of protein

Ben and Jerry's and Yoplait both have frozen Greek yogurt. They both have about 5 flavors each. And each of them are delicious. They really hit the spot for me.

Do you count calories or net calories when you exercise?
MOMW replied to Joy0125's topic in Food and Nutrition
I cannot answer your question directly but my dietitian told that it is important to get all your protein in, so you are building muscle and burning fat. -
I was an ice cream lover. I have discovered the new frozen Greek yogurts. The 1/2 c serving is just perfect and it provides some protein too.

Looking for WLS graph showing expected loss over 12-18 months
MOMW replied to krenzema's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks that is very interesting. I had not seen this before. -
Each Bariatric center has their suggested diet based on their education, past patients, etc. The end result for all of us is the same-to be healthy. If you are that hungry, get a hold of your dietitian for their recommendations. Good luck. In the end you will be glad you did this.

Great job! -
If you are fainting or have dizzy spells make sure to contact you're Bariatric team. They know medically the best for you. Blood pressure and fluids are key things to watch. Please be careful and get up slowly. I know I have to as I have an occasional dizzy spell too. Our bodies are going through so much. It is amazing all the things that get affected.

I can understand the frustration. My bmi was just under 40 when I had my band done. When I was revised to a sleeve 7 months ago, my bml was 36. In my 7 months, I have lost 45 pounds. I know my pace is slow but I know that it is permanent and not such a shock on my system. To keep motivated I come to the forums. I also take my picture and measurements so when I need that little extra kick, I look at them and see how far I have really come. Just remember that those who started heavier will get to our point too. Keep the faith. You and we are worth it.

Suggestions please...
MOMW replied to pedsnurse120304's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 7 months out and a slow loser. I have lost 45 pounds, but my starting weight was 218. I had a revision to a sleeve from a slipped band. I eat about every 2-3 hours. Breakfast is sugar free oatmeal made with milk. AM snack is a banana the 100 Greek yogurt with 1/4 c kashi lean crunch. Lunch is a vegetable and 2 protein-1/2 fat free cottage cheese or 2 light string cheese. PM snack is apple with 1 T low fat peanut butter. Supper is vegetable and 2 oz of some sort of protein. Night snacks are an apple with 1 T low fat peanut butter and 1/2 c frozen Greek yogurt. Hope this helps. It works for me. -
Anyone approved by Aetna with a lower BMI than 40?

Anyone approved by Aetna with a lower BMI than 40?
MOMW replied to Sekeyi27's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Aetna and I had a similar experience to you. Do you have other comodalities like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, diabetes? These make you eligible with a lower bmi. Also speak with your Bariatric team. My team submitted me for approval with my initial weight at my first visit. Check out the Aetna website or call them. I had a hard time finding it but it describes all the requirements for approval. -
Congrats!!! You can certainly see the difference. I am certain you can feel it too. I am like you though I still see the same person in the mirror. One thing I have done is kept track of my measurements and taken photos of me each month in a forward and side profile. These help me see what others see.

Welcome to onederland! What a way to start the new year. I know my resolution for the rest of my life is to never leave onederland.

This is not uncommon at all. Most of us had the same final meal thing before surgery. Don't get too down on yourself. You soon will be starting your pre op diet and you will lose during that.

I too developed a dislike for protein shakes too. I switched from a milk based to a water based. It was some better. Dietitian suggested making a slushie out it and to blend in a regular blender. So I would mix in blender then put in freezer for about an hour. It definately made it more tolerable.

I think the best think is to call your Bariatric team. ER physicians aren't always well versed on special needs of a VSG patient.
