I am 7 months post op. The pre op diet is tough. Most of us have had the last meal syndrome where we think we have to eat all those foods that you think you will never have again. All you can do is your best and work on making the best choice possible, start decreasing your caffeine and soda intake and start to be more active. It never hurts to share you struggle with your Bariatric team. They are a fantastic wealth of knowledge. Good luck and come back to the forum when ever you need. We have all been there.

My victory Med scrubs from a 3x 80 pounds down
MOMW replied to Kansas1965's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats you look fabulous!! -
Oatmeal made with milk was a good choice for me and got some protein too. Tuna salad made with extra mayo was also a good option.

I am 7 months out. I can do the occasional caffeine free soda from a fountain. I then leave it sit for a while and then drink slowly. My dietitian said this was ok. I may have a little gas if I do drink it too fast or don't leave it sit long enough. But remember no straw. Hope you feel better soon.

Exhausted, sick frequently and scared, help!

I think what you need to do is get a hold of your bariatric team and be honest with them. They have the medical knowledge to help you figure out what is really going on and what needs to be done. I can understand your frustration, but sometimes trying to diagnosis ourself is worse that finding the real cause and eliminating the stress of the unknown. Good luck, Hope you feel better soon. Congrats too on your wonderful results! -
Wow I am surprised that require a bmi of 50. Most ot them are 40. Good luck!!

Have a great time!! Just imagine how much better this vacation will be without the extra weigh. I know my first plane ride after my surgery was exciting as I was so much more comfortable in the seat and had to tighten my seatbelt even more. Flaunt that new body. You have worked for it.

ONE YEAR anniversary today
MOMW replied to janerose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your surgiversay. You are doing great. I am only 7 months out, but I can already see that this is one of the best things I ever did. -
Welcome. Come back often. This is a great source for inspiration, questions, and just finding out how others are doing on their journey. I am 7 months out and can actually say that I am enjoying being active and going to the gym. Can't wait to see what 2013 brings.

I think what your are experiencing is the release of the CO2 gas from your surgery. I found that a heating pad helped and so did getting up and walking. I also seen someone that suggested shoulder rolls. As far as your Fluid intake, that will come. Just do what you can. Your stomach is going through a lot right now. I would though not suggest using a straw. You will get a lot of extra air. My bariatric team, said no straws at all.

I really wish I could help, but sorry I cannot. The only thing I suggest is to get a hold of your Bariatric team again. They need to know so they can look further. Good luck and keep the faith.

I had my surgery 7 months ago. I am a slow loser and have lost only 45 pounds. I definately would do it over again. My only regret is that I had the band first and that I did not have it done sooner. The hardest thing is keeping yourself dedicated. This is for a lifetime not just that quick fix that people are looking for. If you keep focusing on the prize of health at the end, then the rest is just a means to the end.

What a great list. I am sure you will help a lot of people with this. I would like to add is use a regular blender they mix so much lighter. I also would put them in the freezer for about an hour. They get slushy and even easier to drink.

15 Months and Lovin the new me!
MOMW replied to jalmeda's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats in your success and motivation. May you reach your goals. We are worth the effort. -
You are justly frustrated. It is too bad the Bariatric team did not let you know that before. But in the grand scheme just think of this as a slight delay. In the end it will be all worth it. Keep the faith. You are worth the effort.

Congrats and welcome. Come on back often.

I can't remember when given clearance but be careful. Don't plan on driving. I was able to tolerate as long as not carbonated. I had wine. I found that it hits fast. The information that I got 1 drink has double the affect than on a normal person
-
Wow that is wrong in so many ways! I especially liked how they call gastric surgery a quick fix. Obviously they did no research.

Gas pains in my chest!
MOMW replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is very common after surgery. Try a heating pad. Also, the best is to get up and walk. It is the co2 releasing from the surgical procedure. -
Remember you can not drink alcohol like you used to. One drink in your system is like two drinks before. Don't plan on driving. In addition remember to stay away from anything carbonated or you will suffer. Have fun but be careful.

1. Weighing less than what is on my drivers license 2. Being in wonderland. 3. Not considered morbidly or even just obese. 4. Shopping for my Xmas outfit on the average sized person stores. 5. Having to get my rings resized. -
Thoughts on apples..... Natural sugar is 28 grams....
MOMW replied to skinnyfate1004's topic in Food and Nutrition
Apples are an excellant fruit. I watch my protein only and not sugar count. To me the benefits of the apple are better then a sugar count. I wouldn't worry as our diets are by nature low sugar. -
Welcome to onederland. Enjoy and congrats! Keep up the good work

I think it would be best to contact your Bariatric team as they know your medical condition. Better to be safe than sorry. Hope you feel better soon
