  1. Good lick in your decision. Remember though that being alive and enjoying life is better than the alternative. Here is hoping that he changes his mind.
  2. I could not but do not sleep on my stomach. I was able to and at one time encouraged to sleep on my side. There is a TV, take your ipod, a book or something else to distract you too. It is not that bad. The wires are a little annoying at times but not bad.

    Craving soda! Whaaaa?

I am almost 8 months out. I have a caffeine free diet coke once a week. If I get it through drive through, I leave it sit for awhile until the carbonation fizzles. At home I do not keep it cold. I pour it over ice and let it sit for awhile. I don't have a problem except maybe some reflux the next day. This is how I handle it. I was soda free though for the first 6 months.
  4. I had to dig out my surgery info. Their recommendation was no ex or sr especially crushed. I was on wellbutrion xr but was not working effectively. My psychologist changed to the SR. I do not crush and took some tweeking but I am in a great spot now. I think you just need to really work with your physician to find the best solution for you and to not crush them so they absorb too fast. Sorry I was a little off on my original post.

    Am I The Only One?

WELCOME! I am almost 8 months out. I had a lap band for a year prior to it slipping. I was sleeved a little less than 3 months later. It is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. I do not regret it at all. I am a fairly slow loser as my bmi was lower when I started. I have lost just shy of 50 pounds since my sleeve and 70 pounds since I began my weight loss surgery process. I feel great, and I am slowly starting to see myself as others see me. I am so glad for this tool! Keeping a positive attitude and always looking forward is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I have also found it important to have some sort of support system. Besides my family and my Bariatric team, I come here for support of my fellow slevers, and I am in Weight Watchers for the weekly support of people who are in this weight loss journey too. Good luck and let us know if we can help in any way.

    Two NSV in one day!

Those are some great NSV. You are doing FABULOUS! I wish my weight would have came off that fast. There is nothing like a NSV to bring a smile to your face and to help you feel proud about the commitment you have made to your health.

    2 weeks post op

This is the time when keeping a positive attitude and keeping your eye on the prize is what really pulls you through. I recommend checking your blood pressure as this is sometimes the cause of the headache. 25 pounds gone is FABULOUS! Pretty soon you will never have to do those full liquids again. Keep it up, come back for support often, this is your battle to win.
  8. The one suggestion that I can make is to have read maybe your Bariatric website or some other medical resource that allows him to see what the surgery is really about, how it is done and why we need it as a tool. Sometimes when people see the facts, they understand better. A lot of times they love you and are worried about the unknown and how it will affect them. Knowledge can be powerful. Good luck and stay strong in your decision to improve your life.
  9. I am in the boat. I take mine seperate from my calcium too, so I take it with my morning pills. Research does say they should be seperated like calcium and iron too.
  10. I would check with your hospital staff. I know that mine wouldn't allow me to drive home.
  11. You need to be the judge on how you feel. I could have easily been by myself after surgery but that is me. Your puppies may be a little rough the first day home or so, unless someone can help feed them and take them out. If you feel ok, then just keep your phone near if you have an emergency, and if someone could check on you during the day would be a security too. But you know you and only you can decide when you leave the hospital. PS I am 50 also.
  12. You may want to check with your hr department. They can tell you what the process is for a medical leave. I had all my pre op and post op appointments covered by my leave. They should also be able to guide you on how much info you need to share with your boss.

    In God's Time

Fabulous. Prayers for a speedy recovery!
  14. I would suggest planning out your meals for the week. Then make sure that you take with you your food for the day. This will help you stay in control. I would also try to get up and walk as much as possible too. Good luck.

    New and approved!

For the hospital I was more comfortable with my own pajamas, toothbrush and pillow. I was also glad to have chapstick. Don't forget your phone charger too. For home I would suggest some small containers with lids and a regular blender. As far as fudgesicles I would say no but check with your dietitian. Good luck. Keep positive.
  16. I wish you well as you battle this. Keep your attitude positive. Keep your eye on the prize. You have a lot going on, but you are worth it.
  17. Great job and thanks for sharing. We all have our past photos that we may not like to look at but we cannot forget them. They are an inspiration to the new person we are becoming.
  18. Can you go to a different Bariatric center? Even though they did not go your surgery, they should be able to get your records and treat you, and have the compassion and desire to help you that they deserve. Keep on trying you are worth it.
  19. Most people do experience their body going into starvation mode and gain a little weight in the first few weeks while you are training and healing your new stomach. This will pass as your calorie intake goes up. To help your metabolism make sure you get your protein in, get your fluids in and take your vitamins and supplements. The dizziness should go away soon but watch your bp to make sure that is not the problem.

    Treadmill Is Kicking My Butt!

I know personally I have a mind block against running, so I walk longer at a higher incline and higher rate. It might be the running that is throwing you off. Also. I know that walking outside for me is aways more enjoyable too. Once you get into the routine it might not be fun to start but once you get going and in the groove, you might just enjoy the time to forget the rest of the world and destress.

    Number 2?

I am 7 months out and still have an occasional bought. I take 2 stool softeners daily. I use the unflavored benefiber if things are really sluggish. Keeping your fluids up helps as does a daily dose of oatmeal.

    NSV

I finally took my rings in to be resized. After 65 pounds, they were a tad loose. I was surprised when they took them down a full size. I just got them back and of course they are so pretty when they are all polished up, but I was amazed at the size. They are little! Who knew I had small fingers. Put a smile on my face today.

    Can't keep vitamins down!

Are you using a chewable vitamin? If not that may help as the whole vitamin may be too big for you right now. I would also ask your Bariatric team for advice too

    Harvard Pilgrim Requirements

The Bariatric center and your insurance carrier will have the best answers. I know for myself they used my initial weight when submitting to my insurance for approval. I was borderline too. If you have things like high blood pressure, sleep apenea, your bmi requirement might be less. Sorry can't give you exact info but this was my insurance requirements.
