I have been overweight to obese as long as I can remember.  I come from a family that is genetically predisposed to a struggle with obesity.  I reached by heaviest weight of 249.8 pounds following the death of my mother.  She had spent the last 6 months of her life in the hospital fighting a body that had been ravaged by the effects of obesity.  After seeing her struggle and the time we lost with her before and after she passed due to her obesity, I decided that I could not do that to myself or my family.  Since I have been banded, the struggle is not over, but the band has given me the tool to make it easier.
