Yesterday i went for a check up with my Doctor - coming up to the second anniversary of being banded on 11 Nov After an endoscopy it was found the band had eroded into my stomach Result - today a permanent removal of the band will happen The sad thing is that I am only half way to my goal I have been a success story for the Gading Pluit hospital here in Jakarta and for chief surgeon and lap band pioneer Dr Barlian Sutedja - a pin up boy for banding in Indonesia Dr Barlian was almost as upset as I was yesterday. He will be providing the removal free of charge and in February next year will do the gastric sleeving for me - also free of charge What can I say about this wonderful man and his extraordinary team that has saved my life? I love them all!! 3 hours until surgery - wish me "bon chance"

Vaginal Itching And Lapband
bodyfixer replied to workinprogress0180's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stop washing yourself with soap around your vagina - warm Water is sufficient You are suffering from a case of Itchy Bottom Syndrome AKA Pruritis Ani Only in your case it has manifested around your vagina. Just use warm water to wash for a few days - including around your anal passage and the problem will go away -
You can buy these one at a time or bulk - simply change the quantity in the drop down box The default setting is set to 25 units But why bother? Simply get an 8 inch plate and mark it out with an indelible marking pen A heck of a lot cheaper

Any Good Vanilla Protein Powder Recomendation?
bodyfixer replied to jMat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use Nutren Optimum from Nestle Nutren Optimum powder is a nutritionally complete powder that can be easily mixed with Water and used as an oral nutritional supplement or a complete diet. It is available in Vanilla and chocolate flavours. Nutren Optimum contains whey Protein, which is easily emptied from the stomach, supporting protein synthesis (muscles and immune function) in the elderly and leaving them less full. Nutren Optimum contains 30 key Vitamins and minerals. -

My Story in just 2 pictures November 2010 just before surgery and November 2011 (the handsome young man is my wonderful son). I still have some way to go but the end is near. Recently diagnosed with macular degeneration of the eyes I have been forced to give up all strenuous forms of exercise or give up my sight earlier than anticipated - I have had to do this the very hard way with just diet, walking and the band. Good luck to everyone on your personal journeys Regards from Yogyakarta Indonesia The Bodyfixer

Thanx everyone - it has been a most remarkable journey and I am happy to have been able to compete in it Everyone is commenting that I no longer look my age (so close to 60 it is not funny!!!) I can do things now that I have not been able to do for the best part of 30 years Being banded in Indonesia where I live was not an issue - I have a most remarkable and caring medical team behind me. Everyone from the admin staff, Doctors and even the cleaning staff address me by name every time I go for a checkup - and it is a HUGE hospital It seems that I am the success story and poster pin up boy of the year for them With respect to my vision - it is now only a matter of when not if. Luckily it is only very bad in one eye so I will remain partially sighted for some time to come I am contemplating adding a patch and a parrot to my ensemble - for that very nautical look Already I can do a very good "Arrrrrrgggghhhhh - Jim Lad" impression that completely mystifies all of my Indonesian friends (most never having heard of Treasure Island) Many thanx and much love to my wife and children for their undying support for all of my troubles. Without you I would never be the man I am today. My heart for you always

So last week my loving partner and I went off to the wilds of North Borneo on a short holiday. Living in Indonesia most places are only an hour or two away from our home in Yogyakarta We planned on heading to Kota Kinabalu Malaysia located at the top of Borneo (Kalimantan) to Celebrate my 56th birthday away from home My victories started as soon as we got on the plane and continued for the entire time we were away The tray table on the plane now manages to go all the way down (still a little snug) instead of resting on my chest I no longer overflow the seat The queen size bed at the hotel actually managed to hold both of us comfortably without falling off the edge (king size would have been better of course) I went snorkeling at Sapi Island and didn't float to the surface as much (Its hard to sink a fat man in salt water) I went white Water rafting (only grade 3 rapids) and had a great time - an exhilarating experience and now it has me hooked on the sport I went to Kota Kinabalu National Park and climbed the mountain trail at Poring Hot Springs - a 550 meter (1000 foot) climb up the mountain at 50% slope then a 550 meter (1000 foot) walk 100 meters (300 foot) above the jungle floor on the suspension bridges (refer to Indiana Jones movies for this) and then down the other side - it took me an hour to do but the view from the top was worth the effort. I huffed and puffed a little but needed no assistance. The wonderful thing was that I could do the suspension bridge walk as I am now under 200 lbs - over that weight and you cant go on!! I did a jungle trek into the wilds to see the Rafflesia flower - the largest flower in the world with petal span up to 39 inches (1 meter) - (refer to the TV show presenter naturalist David Attenborough for this) I did a river trip spotting proboscis and long tailed monkeys in the wild I ran out of clean shirts (very hot there at 100 degrees fahrenheit (32 C) every day with high humidity so I sweat a lot) and went into a shop and bought OFF THE RACK. I asked for 2XL shirts to try on. The sales girl said but Mister - that will be too big for you - better you try L or XL size. She was right!! The food was fantastic and cheap - so I ate only seafood while I was there. No problems getting in my required amount of Protein with all the Jumbo prawns and the fresh fish grilled straight off the boat I lost 2 kgs in weight (5 lbs) on the trip in just one week Weight loss is such a fantastic morale booster. At 260 lbs 8 months ago I would never have contemplated such a trip. At that weight walking up 5 stairs blew me out - now I can climb mountains - and so can you if you want it that much

Thanx everyone - Im off to Jakarta this weekend to meet with my Dietician and Surgeon She wants to meet me and he does not want to fill me since Im winning on all levels (but he does want to hear about my trip since he and his wife want to do the same thing next month after Idul Fitri holidays) I have booked the flight and checked in via web checkin - and this time I dont even care that I have a middle seat normally I insist on an aisle seat but now that I fit in Im not concerned

Out on the weekend with the Grand Kids to the cinema and to buy some new shorts for around the house and the gym Prior to my surgery I wore a size 4XL shorts and have graduated to 2XL - not too shabby if I do say so myself For shirts it was also a 4XL and now an XXL Living in Indonesia it is very difficult to get off the rack clothes in my size - everyone here is petite compared to me But my loving partner did some look-arounds and found a store that might suffice so off we sent on our expedition Shorts abound were found but 2XL shorts were not to be seen My Grandson in all of his eagerness to help brought over a pair of L shorts - L for Asian is a bit small I thought but on his insistance I tried them on - AND THEY FIT - that was a 9 inch loss since I last measured Walking thru the mall my Grandson also called out loudly as he saw a larger person "Hey Grandpa Frumpy - look look you are not the biggest person in the Mall anymore"

I always wanted to swim with the whales at Seaworld instead of being mistaken for one I got lapband surgery because I was tired of being followed by a family of Eskimoes whenever I went swimming

Husband hurt my feelings....
bodyfixer replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it is that easy to offend you then there is no help for you Did you ever stop to think that his comment was not an insult but a (clumsy) caring statement that he is concerned about you going backwards after such a great effort to get where you are now? Sometimes women astound me with their interpretations of us men's statements and comments And after he expressed his concern - what did you do? You kicked him out of the bedroom and relegated him to a place of no importance in his own home Dont expect to get any support from him for a long time girl. You are own your own - like it or lump it. -
me with my father in law in October 2010 before banding at my heaviest 265 lbs(120kg) me now at 205 lbs (93 kgs) my lightest weight in 15 years- my first picture in 40 years without glasses

There are 2 refrigerators in my home. The main one has a lock on it. The keys are held by my wife, nephew and housekeeper All of the yummy stuff that I should not have is kept in there under lock and key The other fridge has all my food in it - all of the GOOD stuff that I should have When head hunger strikes the lock stops me dead in my tracks To go out to buy means a 2 kilometer walk or get the motor bike out To walk means - (from the wife) "If you are going out to buy junk food - take the dogs for a walk too. Maybe they can talk you out of it on the way" To take the motor bike means (from the housekeeper) "Boss please go to the market on your way. I need you to buy(complete your own healthy list and include it here) so that I can prepare your scheduled diet food for your (lunch, dinner - add any meal here) just like your dietition says" To go anywhere - (from my nephew) "Hey Grandpa Frumpy if you are going out can you get me some (add items like ice cream, chocolate, candy, chips, pizza, McDonalds). Then I can eat them in front of you and you can dream of how they will taste and be true to your lapband at the same time" Hrumph!!!!! And that is how you beat head hunger with an all Indonesian household
