Any Virginian Banders??
karewpah replied to RockieBarbie09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol I read the title of this post as "any Virgin Bandster". It piqued my interest. What does virginity and the lapband have in common... Then I read posts from all the Virginia ppl... I need a nap lol -
I have suffered Aslin and repositioning surgery over a year ago...I did notice a change in restriction...fortunately I have only 5.4 in a 10cc band so I've got lots of room to play

Some are Ffected by the heat and others the cold. Since we're into hot summer weather, you might be finding that your band is tighter in the heat.but...are you drinking tons of water and staying hydrated? In this weather, you should up your fluid intake

Eliminate sugar and any artificial sweeteners. Even though sweetneners don't have the calories, they keep your sweet tooth active.

For me I had reflux. I couldn't sleep without stomach acid almost choking me. That was my early warning sign. When I slipped I was puking all the time dried blood. It looked like fine coffee grinds. Also I couldn't keepmanything down and got severely dehydrated. If you think you may have a slip, you need to get to your surgeon immediately.

At This Almost 3 Years & Finally Found Great Protein Bars
karewpah replied to tanqueray's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My favorite are Quest protein bars. High fiber, 20g protein. I don't eat them often. I carry one in my purse "just in case". I don't even have one a month. But they are delicious -

This could be due to stress, dehydration or TOM...trying slowly sipping water and getting protein in via shakes if needed. -

Is The Band Really Failing You, Or Are You Failing The Band?
karewpah replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is proof that does indicate that the band is not an effective WLS for everyone. We just need to keep that in mind and not paint everyone with the same brush of, the band didn't fail them...they failed the band. It is a very small % that the band isn't effective for. -
Question Hub Asked That I Dont Know---So I Am Asking You
karewpah replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hmmm....I'd say possibly if the liquid diet is meant to be Protein only. The protein only liquid diet will throw most ppl into ketosis by the third or fourth day. Ketosis actually makes hunger pangs quite dull or non existent as the body turns to fat for fuel A cracker is all carbs...so it could impact the ketosis, depending upon how carb sensitive the individual is. If you're going to cheat...do it with 1oz of protein. -
The black stuff...does it look a bit like coffee grinds watered down? If so, that's blood (most likely) and you need attention straight away before this progresses into a slip. Please try to keep yourself hydrated with sips of water.

Sojourner...you say "we were all told by our surgeons..." That irked me. How do you know what my surgeon told me or msDuran's told her? To the OP...1 glass is not the end of the world...next time for each 1 glass of wine, have 2 glasses of Water. Don't think to drive because you don't know how it might affect you differently. As for the calories...alcohol converts straight to sugar in your blood stream so use in limited quantities. Forgive yourself and be kind to yourself...there's enough people in this world just waiting to take you down that you don't need to help them with it

Banded For Over 4 Years And I Have Struggled Since Day 1...it's Time For This Band To Be Removed!
karewpah replied to Lyse8432's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would say that your experience sounds like a slip. I experienced a slip about a year ago. Vomiting, couldn't keep food down, vomiting blood, reflux at night... As the other posters said...do get back to your surgeon. I had revision surgery and have been trouble free for a year. -

Tummy Tuck Scar Pics At Eleven Days
karewpah replied to Jachut's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Jacqui you are amazing! You look wonderful, but then I would have thought so before you had you TT. And you're so brave to post pics. I've tried to recreate yor workouts...I'm not quite where you are. BUT I try to do RPM spin 3 days a week and run twice a week for 40-45 minutes. I will grow and do more...5 days a week is my limit..maybe 6. You are a beacon of hope and motivation -
Where do YOU want to be? 24.9 BMI puts you in the normal weight category. But where do you want to be? You don't have to have an unfill to maintain. Why not ride this fill out to see where it takes you?
