How many portions does the render?
-
I didn't realize they had a clinic in Sudbury for lapband. Good luck with your journey
-
Where are you getting banded? Did you tell anyone you were having this done? Good luck!

I find I'm now bored when I. Watch TV because I'm not snacking. I'm now surfing when I watch tv...just to keep my hands busy. I only watch a bit of tv in the evenings when i've got my exercise out of the way. Soon I will start studying for an exam which should occupy both my mind and my hands.

Sometimes with local and lots of water we get potassium depleted. Maybe ask your pcp

Jessi...I don't understand...you were banded May 23 and you've "only" lost 35 pounds...in two months most people would give their left kidney for that toe of weight loss.

Well Guys Im Losing Weight But.................
karewpah replied to James _Perkins15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
James...keep up the good work. Follow the rules and it will be difficult for you to fail. Protein is key so that you don't lose muscle mass...which is detrimental to your heart functioning well. Weightloss should slow the more you lose. I agree 10 pounds a month is more reasonable. Be well! -
I had a similar problem and it was as sign of trouble for me that ignored. I ended up slipping and needing revision surgery. Do talk with your dr or nurse soon

My nurse does it by feel and they've never missed the port or had to poke around

Thanks for your support everyone. It's a great place to be and the weight is coming off nicely. I should be at goal shortly if this keeps up . I was sitting on the couch lat night watching a movie by myself and was restless. Couldn't understand why. I think it was because I wasn't munching on something. I found I had to surf the net on my iPad while watching the movie so I could distract myself from my head. My stomach clearly was satisfied. My head...not so much.

So...I had my surgery Dec 2010. I lost well, then I suffered a slip in May of 2011. I lost again and have been within 15-20lbs of goal since then. I've kept my band loose and that has allowed me to be able to eat a variety of foods. I was likely at a good restriction for maintenance. So I recently good a fill. I'm @ 5.6 in a 10cc band. I'm in the green zone. No PBing...unless I eat something to large or don't chew chew chew. I've lost 5.8 pounds since my last fill just over a week ago. I get in enough nutritionally so no worries there. So what's my problem? I'm missing volume of food...simply put. I'm still adjusting to the new fill and enjoying the weight loss, but now need to work on the mental aspect. It really is a journey.

What To Expect (Weight Loss Wise) In The First 6 Weeks
karewpah replied to MairinNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think everyone is different depending on where they start. Those with more to lose generally lose faster or a bit more in the beginning. Those with lower BMI typically are a bit slower, but everyone is different. I was told that the first 6 weeks are about healing and not weight loss. Don't get down with how much you've lost. Once you start getting your fills, thats when it all comes together. That's 9 pounds you can say good riddance to -
What I find after each fill is that I need re re-learn how to eat a wee bit. What and how I was able to eat pre-fill is much different than after a fill. I suggest you first take a look at how much is on the fork and how well you're chewing. My clinic always tells me that the food should be the size of the nail on my pinkie finger. I don"'t always listen and sometimes pay the price.

I'm over a year out and this happens to me. Are you using a straw or sipping from the glass? f using a straw, I'd suggest not to. If you're drinking from the glass or cup, are you sipping or gulping. Straws and drinking too fast or breathing while drinking (for me) gives me the air bubble effect
-
I'd go into your surgeon or the clinic nurse and have them assess. Sometimes we're too quick to get filled and this happens (I'm not saying this is what has happened with you) and sometimes we need to adjust to the fill we have. If you can't get liquids down, that's a problem. But if you can I'd keep myself hydrated and have some Protein shakes and ride it out for a couple of days (provided you don't hae any reflux). If it's still like that after a couple of days, then perhaps an unfill just so you're not eating the slider foods.

Stuck At First Every Time I Eat Anything
karewpah replied to NC Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it comes and goes. right now I have it (just had a fill). So I have something warm to drink before each meal. I can't eat when I'm too too hungry, tired or at a high level of stress because I'll mess up one or more of the rules and get stuck -
I've never been numbed prior to a fill and aside from the little prick of the needle, it's very painless. I've never understood why the Drs would do that since you end up with 2 needles, not 1 and you still end up feeling the prick of a needle.

Eating After Lapband
karewpah replied to lapbandkeira's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love spicy food! I eat it all the time. I will say, for me, I had to "work my way back up" to the level of spiciness that I like as my stomach wasn't quite ready for it. -
I love cooking in tins...I need to get better because I find what I'm cooking ends up drier and harder to get down.

Share You Weight Loss Please :)
karewpah replied to Belindajuarez's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lost 79 pounds in just over a year with about 15-20 to go. I've been hanging out at this weight since February of this year and have just got a fill to take me down the last 15-20 pounds...so almost there. It is a journey...for some it's faster than others. Much of that is within our control...sometimes not. -
Hubby Can Only Take 1 Day Off Work!
karewpah replied to ssss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sent my husband to work directly after surgery. I also went for a 1k walk same day with my kids ( I just wanted to make sure the gas was moving). You may be better than you think. -
I had a slip. It felt like hell. I started vomitting blood. It looked dark brown and like it had coffee grinds. I couldn't keep anything down, not even Water. I got severely dehydrated and was close to organ failure...on top of that I was in France when it happened and had to fly back in pain. I spent more time in the bathroom than my seat. That's how it felt for me.

I would have him empty it back to where it was when you were losing. Then, if you start losing again, keep it right there

Banned With Children.
karewpah replied to stokesmommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine were 4 years old and 1 year old when I was banned. I didn't send them away. I showed my 4 year old my belly and told her that mommy was tender and couldn't lift, bend or move quickly. I told her that I'm ok and that I'll be back to normal soon. My husband was a huge support and I did heal quickly. -
