I fly all the time. If your NAND tightens up A bit, just sit back and enjoy the flight

I travel all the tome for work and find I lose more when I travel. I have an eggwhite omlette with veggies for breakfast. Lunch is some sort of meat and veggie and the same with dinner. Hydrate as much as you can. If your band feels tight inflight...sit back, sip water and enjoy the flight.

karewpah replied to AlienBandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Surgical weightloss centre in Mississauga. They have awesome patient care -
Haven't had the wide open experience yet. It's troublesome for me because I usually workout before lunch and am famished after such a hard workout. Sigh...might be a good time for a protein shake.

How many of you have a personal trainer?
karewpah replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a trainer at my local gym. I will go 3 times a week an it's $70 a session. I've been with her since 2007 and am looking to finally meeting my goals over the next several months Twice a week is a good start. Do make sure you get your cardio in on your off training day as that just increases your calorie deficit -

How is your water intake and exercise? I suggest that you be sure to get the minimum recommended exercise and get your 64-96oz of water, crystal light or decaf beverages. I find young my water helps move things along

getting enough protein
karewpah replied to beckyrlnd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Acadia... Our nutritionists and surgeons give us the 60-80gm of Protein a day to protect our muscle mass. You're information is not accurate and you risk truly misleading someone. To the original poster... Try the Greek yogurt instead of protein powder, how about chili homemade with lean ground turkey and topped with lowfat ricotta cheese. Of course I highly recommend this only as a stop gap until you speak with your nutritionist. Keep your protein at a minimum of 60 gms as was recommended to you, else you risk compromising your metabolism by losing lean muscle mass. Get you Water up to about 96 ozs and that should help flush things out for you. I hope you are feeling better soon. -
That really does sound like gas pain...get your water and walk walk walk and take your gas x. It should go away within a day or so. If you can't breath...get to an er

If anyone ever says to me, I took the "easy way, I'll just...

Suzanne. Where you are right now is completely normal. The weight gain is temporary and over the next few days that gain will go away and then some. Take the pain mess you were given and don't let the pain catch up with you. I'm one month out and just had my first fill which was painless I have no pain or tenderness and don't have port pain. It was the right choice and it will get better. Be well -

You ladies are hilarious today! -
I did chat with the surgeon and he's not happy I need to travel after a fill but has said that it' manageable... The guideline was really meant only for the first fill anyways. He just told me to pay very careful attention to the band. Thanks for everyone's insights and experiences.

Hi there, I need to get my first fill, however, my surgeon recommends not traveling for 2 weeks after surgery. The challenge for me is that I travel frequently for work and the first 5 months of the year have me away 2 or more weeks a month and I just can't figure out how to get a fill and not travel for 2 weeks. I'm the only one working right now and my husband is not. We're going through massive layoffs and I don't want to be one of them because I can't do my job. Question: people travel after having the surgery, thinking of those people far away from a center and need to fly, if they can fly after surgery, what IN YOUR OPINION is the risk. Yes I will talk to my surgeon and his nurses but I really want some bandster input here. Helpful and uplifting responses only... If I want to be beaten down I'll just read fluffy2fabulous's posts lol

All...thank you so much for your helpful and supportinve responses. I'm going to call my surgeon today and rebook my fill and just let them know I will be flying and that it can't be helped. I'll be in London England where there are qualified Lapband Drs should I need it, and I will travel with that card they gave me after surgery...I trust all will be well. I'll definitely pack protein powder just in case, but a 7.5 hour flight shouldn't be a big deal. Again...thanks for giving me some different views adn experiences. Michelle

Through this whole process focus on nutritious foods and beverages. Wine is for later on, down the road and, IMHO has no place in post op, not in my post op. Having said all that the publication my surgeon gave me from the Dr who pioneered this, says a glass of red wine has health benefits and could be worked in to a regular diet. Focus and the reason why you've chosen this path and stay strong to your initial decision. I hope my post was helpful and not negative and downright ride like the previous one
