Still having lots of gas after 10 weeks post op
karewpah replied to ncgg-5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to admit that I still have gas. Attic and basement so to speak. I swear I belch louder than a truck driver! I find when I drink my full allotment of Water, it's reduced somewhat -
I've had my band empty as many months as I've had a fill. You can have it empty and still lose weight. I think Jachut had it empty for quite sometime and went down 15lbs below her goal weight. You can manage this. It seems devestating at the time (it did for me), but it's totally manageable. Best of luck!

How much time off work?
karewpah replied to Michele1975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me I was banded on Thursday and back to work the following Monday. I think the time off likely is determined by your job (is there heavy lifting etc) and how well you tolerate the pain. Some do have a harder time of it than others...it's so unique for each person -
Have you reached a plateau???
karewpah replied to poopgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking in fewer calories than you are expending? Are you following the "rules"? Are you at a good fill level? Most of us hit plateaus...change it up. If you're not exercising, start. If you are, change up your routine. -
Unsatisfied with the Lap Band surgery!!!!
karewpah replied to poopgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I personally find it interesting that the OP created their account today and has had only two posts...very suspicious. That being said, this WLS is not for everyone. I've had my share of complications and even with having a surgery to re postion the band, I wouldn't do anything different. It's not without challenges, but it's also completely worth it...for me. I'm with Corrigan here...you need good pre-op care...they have these psych assessments for a reason...and post op care...slow fills, specific instructions etc. These protocols are all important to the success of each patient. -
It's true...some people lose over 100 pounds without a fill. Consider yourself lucky that you might not experience bandster hell. Enjoy this time

Feeling like a loser, over eating and my fill isnt until 11/28
karewpah replied to sheriah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a struggle for sure. Try making sure you drink more than your 64 ounces of fluids. Fill up on water if you can and that should help with your hunger. The first fill will hopefully give you some relief. It's common for people to gain a wee bit as they transition out of liquids only. -
enjoy this time and the weight loss that comes with it. You're probably still swollen...don't worry, the swelling will go down and you will likely have your hunger return. be well!

Cooking for family while on liquid diet???
karewpah replied to juliebug's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did this during last Christmas. I cooked with my protein shake in my hand. I did taste the food but I also spit it out instead of swallowing it. I did do a lot of pre cooking so that I wasn't in the kitchen every night. My husband was great and stepped up and helped with cooking on various days -
Finally getting the ball rolling :)
karewpah replied to VWLisaWV's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good news...congratulations! I am a Dec 2010 bandster -
I have to say I love my band for traveling. Usually it tightens up just a bit on the plane and it takes a day or so to get back to normal...I eat less and lose weight all while I'm traveling! And remember...what happens in Vegas can catch a ride home on your hips if you're not careful Good job at staying on track though!!

Banded no fill and can't stop eating
karewpah replied to Carerjem's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm with reverie on this one. Just because you can eat more, doesn't mean you should. You need to take good care of your stoma right now as you are healing. If you *can* eat anything, then eat some really dense highly nutritious foods. If you're hungry try increasing your Water intake. This was an incredibly difficult time for me...the bandster hell...it will end...promise. -
You need to contact your surgeon immediately or go to an ER. You could become extremely dehydrated and that could lead to all sorts of problems.

Crystal Lite is fine. I count all non caffeinated, 0 calorie fluids herbal teas, Water, crystal light etc. Each dietician and surgeon is different on eating times. Mine tells me that it should take me no less than 20 minutes and no more than 30 minutes to eat my 1c of food.

2 Hours a day if you've never exercised before is a bit much. Why not get into the gym and have someone familiarize you with the machines and the free weights. If you know where things are and what they're used for, it will make your time there more productive. I'm a big supporter of personal trainers, but not everyone can do that. My surgeon says 30 minutes a day of exercise. Why not start with that and build up from there.

Workout while on Pre-op diet?
karewpah replied to missraefla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go for a walk...when you feel like you've had enough, go home. The pre op shouldn't stop you from basic walking. I wouldn't recommend doing high intensity cario training, but a stroll around the neighborhood would get you out of the house and probably help keep your spirits up. the pre op can be gruelling. -

They'll likely just check your incisions and see how you're tolerating food progression. Answer any questions you have and weigh you...pretty easy stuff. -
Any One Have A Issues With Hair Loss After Lap Band Surgery?
karewpah replied to Sharon1222's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It lasted for me for about 4 months... It's much better now! -
Is it your monthly cycle time?
-
...definitely unfill time...although that 8lbs is probably very exciting Hope you're better soon!

Got a fill and I shouldn't have :(

Let us know how you feel...remember...when you're ready, you can always go in for a slight fill again! -
Finally, I think this fill has done the trick
karewpah replied to Jachut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh Jachut...and here I thought you were easily maintaining it! I really did...I was kind of envious. You've had a year of hell and you've come through the other side. You've gained great strength, stamina and knowledge of yourself. I too hope your fill takes...your band is small and you don't have much room for fills in it. Here's hoping you feel your coffee everyday and you find your appetite dimmed once again! -
