  1. It's completely normal to be nervous to go under a general anethetic...being a mom, I worried and stressed over not coming out of the surgery rather than what life with a band would be like. I can say that with around 70lbs gone, I can run after my children more (slippery little buggers ) and they have more fin wth me because I'm happier in general. I think there is bigger risk to your health and longevity staying heavy than taking this very brave, courageous step to take control of your life. Only you know if the decision is right for you...I wish you a speedy recovery (which mine was pretty easy) and much happiness on your lapband journey

Lap Band Removal On December 7th.

You're completely right. For some the band is a godsend and for others it's a nightmare. While I've had some complications, I still love my band. I'm so sorry that you've had such a difficult go of it. The decision to take the band out is a tough one and you will for sure be in my prayers for a speedy recovery. I wish you well in your journey beyond the band
  3. It sounds like you're struggling and many of us go through this. The foods yu mention are actually considered slider foods which "could" be an indication that you are too tight. Are you eating chips and crackers because they are easier to eat, or because you prefer them? Try doing the 5 day pouch test...not to test your pouch, rather to put your head back in the bandster mindset. You've had great losses so far...don't stop yourself short now. You CAN do this!
  4. Not sure about it just yet....need to get use to it now
  5. I told my husband and 1 friend who had gastric bypass. That was my choice...I was a low BMI person and I really didn't want to hear "oh you don't need to do something that drastic". A couple people at work now know, only because I experienced a slip while travelling abroad for work.
  6. Dr Coburn @ SWLC is amazing. His staff are equally as good. I lovenmy experience. Yes you can lose 120 lbs...absolutely. PM me if you want more info on SWLC
  7. If you can eat pizza, that doesn't mean you need a fill. I can eat everything in terms of food. Some might be more difficult than others. I would consider pizza crust a slider and maybe that's why you can eat 2 slices. I'd recommend hanging out here for a few weeks, at this fill level and see if you're losing.

    Negativity!

    Well said B-52!

    lost restricion?

It just sounds like you need a fill to me...that will happen as you lose weight, the fat around your stomach shrinks and the band is loser..isn't it great that it's so adjustable?
  10. ahhh....closer to the green zone

  11. I'd say do it for a week just to kind of get your head in the right space for what to expect after surgery. You're lucky
  12. Just take it easy and don't be so hard on yourself. The band will come out and maybe it's not the surgery for you. Have you researched any of the other options?

    "Another crutch"

why not do the consult before thanksgiving. Give yourself more armour so to speak. If this is right for you, you shouldn't have to defend your choice. Why not simply say, "this is my decision. this is the tool I've chosen to lose this weight and get healthy. I want you to support me in this journey...are you with me?" And if they're not, and some may not be, well...you have a family of origin and a family of choice..you can chose to consider us in Lapband Land you chosen family and look to use for support, butt kicks and whatever it is you may need.

    Vitamins- What are people taking?

I take NOW liquid multi vitamin, NOW flavoured Flax oil and B6, B12 injectibles. I have a ton of energy!
  15. Enjoy that NSV! You may find you feel a bit tighter during the flight...drink some liquids and sit back and enjoy not snacking! Travel safe

    Flying on liquids

When I fly I bring a shaker cup with Protein powder in it. I either get Water from the flight attendants or purchase bottle once I'm through security. I actually got a collapsible cup with a lid that travels nicely. Just a thought...

    Is it just me or.....

You need to practice positive self talk and back it up with actions...
  20. They do work...I try to use them sparingly. My preference is to avoid getting stuck

    woes....

It's all on you right now to control your portions. Hopefully your first fill will help...for some it takes a few fills to get the band working for them. Just because you "can" eat more, doesn't mean you should. Find something to moyivate you to stay on track until Now 14th

  23. My hubby knows and that was going to be it but a couple people from work now know due to a slipped band while traveling overseas for work. You could use your FB privacy settings to restrict who can see your posts

    Slipped band

Are you able to tolerate liquids? If so, then stick with those until Monday. A slipped band is painful and nothing, including water stays down.
