November 2010 Bandsters - post op
Donnamfred replied to DebWS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all, I know I have not posted on here for a LONG TIME, but here is an update. I HAVE BEEN STUCK!! I have not been able to lose anymore weight since August 2011. I am really getting upset, and I am finding myself eatting out of bordom, and just being depressed because I have not been able to get under 250. I did get from a size 26-28 down to a size 16, but every time I get below 250 I find myself rightback at 250 within a week or two. I have done everything the doctor tells me to do. The past few months though I have totally fallen off. Not doing my work outs, eatting Ice cream in the evening. UGH, I so want to get back on track, and start lossing weight again. I am being told I have been stuck for this long because I lost so much weight so fast, but I think it is time to start lossing again. Any advice? Thanks!! Donna -

November 2010 Bandsters - post op
Donnamfred replied to DebWS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI ALL, Glad to see everyone posting again. I had my surgery November 3rd, 2010. So far I have lost a total of 55 Lbs. I also just had a Port Revision on the 17th of March. My port came unstitched and flipped over. This surgery was not as bad as the first, but still hurt's. Doctor said it was nothing I did, just happens some times, but didn't think it would happen after 4 months. They also took 1 cc out, which doesn't make me very happy since I was finally feeling some resriction at 6.5cc in a 14 cc band. I am hoping she will put the 1 cc back in when I go for my follow up April 5th. Deb I know what you mean about starving, I have that feeling around 3 or 4 pm everyday, and I could eat anything if I don't watch it. That is usually when I break out the string cheese to tie me over till dinner. I do eat 3 times a day, 4 if I throw in a snack, which my doctor doesn't want us doing. But, I do, it my stomach is growling and it isn't meal time. But always something lite. Well it is nice to hear from you all again, keep up updated. =-) -
My Flipped Port Story
Donnamfred replied to MizDiz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just found ot yesterday that my port fliped. I recieved my Third Fill on the 3rd, and she had a really hard time getting to my port, which she had never had before. She did manage to get to the port, and gave me 1.6cc fill. I usually only get 1cc. Well no surprise the .6 is alittle to much. So, I went in yesterday to have some removed, and No Luck. The Nurse, nor the doctor could get to it. So, Doc took me to X-ray and sure enough it has flipped over on it's side. So, Thursday March 17th I get to go back in for surgery to fix it, and have the .6cc taken out so I can eat more then just greek yogurt and drip protien shakes. -
Hello all, I had my surgery on November 3rd 2010. I had my third fill last wednesday 2 March 2011, they had a hard time getting to my port on that day, but managed to get it done. Then Monday I noticed as long as I ate Cream of Wheat or Yogurt I was fine, but if I tried to eat anything like Chicken, Salmon, anything that wasn't SOFT, I would get stuck. So, went in yesterday (3/10/11) to have .6 cc removed and she couldn't get to the port. Called the Doctor, he couldn't get to the port. Off to X-ray we go, and after about 30 min of pushing on my port, Doctor decided that it is fliped on it's side and so I have to go in for a Port Revision to fix it. I would have had this done today, but I had no one to take me to the Hospital as I have to be put under. (Hubby is at Disney World with our son.) My question, has anyone had this done, and how long did you hurt? I am not looking forward to this, since that is the spot that hurt for a few weeks, and on the 22nd my husband is having surgery on his Knee and I will need to be able to help him.

Hi Deb, I to have hit a standstill with the losing of weight. However, I have noticed that I am still losing inches SLOWLY!! But I am finding if I don't wear a belt with some of my pants they keep falling down and I have baggy butt...LOL As for the posting I have noticed that the November Banded people have really showed in there posting. I try and check this posting list every time I get on, and sometimes I have to hurt for it. I can still eat just about anything with no problems even though I have 4cc's in my Band. I have over done it twice, almost getting sick. But thankfully I didn't and was able to get over it in a few min. My next fill will be January 5th. I am hoping for a little more restriction. Right now I have not lost any weight in about 2 weeks. But then again I have not gotten on the scale in about 4 days, cuz I felt I was defeating the purpose. So I am going to try and not weight myself but once a week. As for exercise, I have not been doing as much as I should, there are some days when I just don't have the time to do anything. I am trying to walk on the treadmill here at work at 10 and 2 everyday for like 20min. But there are just some days when I cannot get to it. I went out this past weekend and bought a new Recumbent bike one with programs, so I hope this will help. Now just to use it, since my old one collected dust along with the treadmill in my garage and the palates machine in my bedroom. -
The Isopure is what they had me drinking the 1st week after my surgery while I was on the clear liquid diet.

Hi all, I got my first fill today. Felt kinda weired but atleast it did not hurt at all. Kinda scared me when I saw the size of that needle, but no pain at all with the stick. I found out I have a 14cc Band, and she put 4cc in. I will be on liquids today, and mushies tomorrow. I will let you all know how things go. =-) -

Hi all, Well I too survived Turkey day. I am pretty much able to eat anything I want to include BREAD!! My Surgery was on November 3rd and I have been able to eat food since November 19th. I go for my first fill on Wednesday December 1st. I hope I will be like one of the ladies I work with, she had her surgery in March and has only had 1 fill and has lost 95lbs already. So far I am down a total of 31 Lbs since June when I first saw the surgeon and was put on a diet for 3 months before I could have surgery. I will say that I have not lost any weight in the last week; HOWEVER, I have found that I have lost 2 inches in my hips and 2.5 inches in my waist, so atleast I am still lossing inches even if the scale is not changing. YEA!!!!! Glad to hear that everyone survived Thanksgiving, and is doing well. Hello to all the newbie’s! Well hope everyone has a great day!! Bye for now! -

I had my surgery on November 3rd, so I am 3 weeks post op, and have been able to eat food since Friday the 19th. Yes people really do lose weight, I have lost 14 Lbs since my surgery 3 weeks ago. I think it really depends on what you eat, how much you eat, and if you do some type of excerise. DON'T just sit around! I was up and out of the house walking 3 days after my surgery. Not walking fast, but just walked around the block. I think it made all the differance in my Pain, and how much weight I have lost. Good luck! -

Lack of Support from family and friends...
Donnamfred replied to Price5's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I feel your pain!! My mother has the biggest mouth in the world!! Not to mention she is using me as a ginny pig. I decided to get this surgery, I figured I would let her know, since she is my mother, and I KNOW she has done told my whole family (People I have not talked to in years!!) what I have done. Hoever, I am sure she has not said a word about the fact that she has also decided to do it. Everyday she calls me to see how I feel, not cuz she really cares, just becuz she is trying to make her mind up if she is really going to do this or not. I don't think she will, the women has been a type 1 diabetic for the past 25 years, and she has never followed the diet, she eats what she wants when she wants. Sorry Guess I just vented and got off track! -

Nausea from vitamins
Donnamfred replied to gracierose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been taking the Bariatric Advantage Vitamin, and I have found if I take it on an empty stomach, I get nausea. Try taking it after you eat, or while your eatting. -
When you make your ticker, and you get to the last page. Go to the bottom of it, and copy and paste the bbcode into your signature box, save it and then refresh you page. There is another tread on here that helped me do it, and they show step by step directions. If you still have problems, let me know, in the mean time I will try and find the tread that helped me and send you the link to that. Good Luck!

I really must have been lucky. I only took my Pain meds for 4 days. But then again I do have a High Pain Tolerance. Had to baby's without any Pain meds. Now I will say that when the Gas went to my Shoulder, that hurt really, really bad, but it only lasted for like 3 days. Since I had to go back to work, I didn't take anything for that since I would not be able to drive if I was still taking the pain meds. I am not sure what you can do about the pain. I just walked, and walked some more, and things got better for me each day. Today, 13 days out, I have No Pain except if I wear a pair of jeans. For some reason even though my jeans fit, when I sit down it hurts on my big incision. Good luck with your figuring out why you have so much pain, I hope your doctor can give you something to help soon. -

Why did you get the LAP-BAND and not the sleeve or gastric bypass?
Donnamfred replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose the Band because I didn't like the idea of having my insides rerouted. I thought about the sleeve, but my insurace wouldn't pay for it, unless I let the military Doctors do it. No Thank You! But, then I also talked to a friend and she got the sleeve in May, her Mom got the Band in May. She says she really wishes she had done the Band instead of the Sleeve. She said she can really see how she can mess things up if she doesn't watch it. I guess she can eat just about anything she wants, and there is the chance of stretching her stomach back out. That was all I needed to hear, and so chose the Band! -

Hi all, I got my band on November 3rd. Everything has been going well so far. Today I get to start mushy food!! The only problems I have been having is making sure I get the 80oz of water in every day, and making sure I take the 2 Vitamins, and 2 Calcium tables a day. This is a really a propblem for me, since they want me to have atleast 3 hours in between each pill. Today I had 1/4 cup of egg beaters mxed with some cheese, and it did go down ok, since it took me like 30 min to eat it. But, I did get some chest pain till I was able to drink something an hour later. Now I am fine, and hungry again, just not sure what I am gonna eat. I look forward to hearing from you all, and reading how you all are doing. Donna
