A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
okiefamily replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Morning... make sure that you get in protein (my doc says 78 g) water and exercise everyday. If you must snack at night choose high protein low sugar snacks. Sugar is addictive and it just makes you crave more sugar. I am going to boot camp...hope to see you there. -
New Me- Sorry your surgery was so eventful...Hope you are feeling better and welcome to the board. Good Luck on your Journey. Skinnymom- glad to hear all has passed. Sounds like some kind of interesting tribal ritual, but hey, if it worked, I will save the post in case it happens to me. Lucky Girl- thanks for sharing about the fill, I am eager and anxious to get mine. I am glad to have this board to turn to for support and when I want to eat out of boredom. You guys rock!!
-
I haven't but I would like to hear more when you get the info.
-
Skinnymom- I hope your problem has passed. However, I guess that means you have good "restriction" because if I ate an onion ring it would go right through. Can't wait to get fills!! I heard someone talking about enzymes that are available in health food stores...look in the post titled carrot north of band. I'd quote it but I don't know how.
-
Just for future reference I have heard that room temp pineapple juice will work as sort of "human drano" too. I haven't tried it personally but you never know.

That is awesome dawn...can you give us any tips or advise. Did you ever cheat, how many calories did you eat, did you exercise...etc. Please tell us all so we can be as successful as you! Okay. Did I beg enough? Congratulations on your success! -
Maybe stay away from corn because it is carby? That would be my guess. I too haven't eaten tuna in years but have since had a couple of those lunch to go tuna thingy's.
-
I have felt that uncomfortable, almost painful pressure a couple of times I have over eaten, I wish it would stick in my brain and prevent it from happening again.
-
Would pay shipping, let me know if you would like to do that.
-
Also, as a self pay you need to consider after care and look for a doc that does lots of fills as a part of your package, I am kind of disappointed that my doc only does 3 for free.
-
Gerbera...sometimes it seems like you won't lose if you don't have enough calories. Could you be eating too little? I don't know if that is possible, but you never know.
-
Denise, that mix sounds good, I will have to try it!
-
Has anyone on soft foods tried the already cooked tuna or salmon filets that come in the packages like tuna fish? I am wondering if they are any good or if they are gross?
-
RE: Restriction, I only feel restriction if I screw up and eat a great big amount. I am scheduled for my first fill on 1/31 which is supposed to be 6 weeks post op but is actually 7 weeks Here is what I am wondering... checking out those calorie calculators says to maintain my weight I should eat 3000+ calories, so since I am eating <1500 I should lose weight, right. I don't know if you guys have seen the www.calorie-count.com site but I think it is cool! I would like to pat myself on the back for walking 1.5 miles today!!! Hugs

I don't begrudge anyone the right to do their own thing but, since I didn't get an invite, I have to admit I feel a little left out... You know that same feeling I got in middle school because I was the FAT GIRL. Whatever though, I am here to stay and support the December Bandsters! Love Ya'll

4WEEKS!!! ON LIQUIDS?!!! Boy that does suck. I had 2 and I didn't even do so great (Christmas and New Years happened). I will be sending you extra will power and prayers. I ate a lot of yogurt too, I think it prevented a yeast infection I felt coming on from the antibiotics. I'd like to hear from some of the early december bandsters about what they are eating now and how they are doing prior to their first fill. This board is great! Love Ya'll

Kindred--I am in OK and have BCBS of Oklahoma and they told me that in Oklahoma they don't pay for but federal BCBS does and other states do. So I guess BCBS of OK is sucky! I appealled once, got denied and then just paid for it myself. But perhaps if you fight harder than I did you will get it.

I was able to resume about a week after surgery, just careful not to press on my tummy.

I have been a lurker for a while, can't remember if I have posted here but I read it all the time. I was banded on 12/13. I had my 2 weeks post op yesterday (it was actually at 3 weeks) and I had lost 30 pounds so far!!! My starting weight was 368 and now I am at 338. I also found out I have the larger band. Wondering what that means for me in terms of the journey and fills and such. I currently don't feel any restiction that I am aware of and feel like I could probably eat everything I wanted but I don't. I love reading everyones problems and progress and am excited to be a part of the december bandsters thread with everyone. Kristin

I had the golf ball feeling in the beginning too, I think it was gas, walking really helped. Happy New Year! Here's to all our success. Kristin

I love to read to, I just finished Black and Blue by ??? It was an oprah book, it way pretty good. I just started The Memory Keeper's Daughter, so far so good. Just prior to that I read Running with Scissors, it was interesting and easy read. Also read Beloved, it was great. My very favorite book of all time is "the Good Earth" by Pearl Buck. I love it! New Whey Liquid Protein or protein bullets?
okiefamily replied to soniacan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hate the Protein drinks. The only thing I have tried that I can tolerate is Herbalife peach mango powder stuff. It only has 15 g protein but I will actually drink it as opposed to just look at it on my counter. It is actually pretty good. Kristin
