That was what I love about my WLS surgeons office... wide chairs, scales that go high enough, low wide beds.. No need to worry about wether the scale goes high enough or if your ass will squeeze into a waiting room chair without breaking. -

I am glad you are serious about your exercise...keep it up! I feel like normal doesn't exist for us big BMI ers. Be us short or tall... I am of average height 5'4'' and all of the clothes I find are too long in the legs and arms. I feel like clothing manufacturers thing if you are fat, you must be tall too. I was in lane bryant with a friend the other day, (she was shopping, not me cause I can't fit..yet) and stood next to their stylishly dressed maniquins which are 6 ft tall and I thought... if those clothes look good on the 6 ft manequin how are they going to look on me. And I certainly don't consider myself short. Normal doesn't exist, except in the retail world so screw em' I also agree with the person who said Junonia...they have good, cutish, sturdy workout clothes. -
I am glad for you Kay. Thanks for spreading a little sunshine on the board. I am considering a therapist to help me deal with these issue, only there are none in my town...I would have to drive an hour or so, but if it could help it would be worth it.

Wow, already filled... maybe that means you get to skip bandster hell. Most surgeons provide a food plan for post surgery. Did yours? Most of them go something like this... 2 weeks of liquids (protein shakes (slimfast low carb, atkins advantage, optifast) yogurt, smooth soups, etc. 1 week of blenderized or mushee foods (mashed potatoes, applesause, baby food) 1 week of soft food (baked fish, soft cooked veggies) My dr. gave me a book type thing describing each phase. did yours give you any handouts or anything? Keep coming here, we will help you get through it. I definitely think you should be on liquids right now. -
Hi Karey, welcome aboard.

Tina--11 days out and you alreaky feel like it is not working? Do you have some post surgery depression or something going on. Give us some more details and tell us why you feel this way. Hugs -
Thanks Chubby, I always need someone to keep in check, so feel free to speak it like it is... As I thought more about it, it occured to me that if I eat "the bandster way" it is practically low carb (protein and produce)... so I am just going to try to do that and do the best I can until I get my fill. If I get the munchies I will just try to eat those foods on the free list for the atkins diet. I am going to eat healthy and not worry about the portion sizes for the moment. You are right, I also need to consider how I would feel if I crash dieted and it didn't work, so, I am going to eat healthy and know that I ate healthy regardless of what the scale says next tuesday. I am unlike alot of others, I have never really had any measurable success on any diet or fitness plan and I so badly want this to work...I just get my logic all fried sometimes. The diet I stuck to the longest was Atkins (3 mos) and I felt good doing that so that is kind of what I fall back on. But, thinking back, I didn't change my habits (late nite snacking) and that is why I eventually failed...and the goal of the band is to change those habits, so that is what I want to do...quit late nite snacking (for one). So today I will eat nothing after 9:00 pm. Well, anyway, thanks for the support and reframing of my thoughts. Sorry for the long post.

I know chubbygirl, this isn't a race...I just feel like an upward movement of the scale would really wreak havoc with my mental state right now, so I just want to see it go down, even if just .5 of a pound. I have a terrible proclivity to just give up, when I get discouraged. I just need a boost to get me through and then, when I start getting fills I feel like things will be easier. I do better when I can tell people I am doing good and when I do poorly I just quit caring, so it doesn't hurt as bad and so I can make myself and others believe I really don't care. I think I have decided to go low carb for the week, do atkins because right now I just want to eat, eat, eat and you can eat a lot on atkins.

Be a friend to her and try to spend time with her. Get her to talking about her future and just listen...say nothing, ask lots of questions, non judgemental... She will probably figure it out on her own if you can get her talking and thinking about her life and what she wants.

I am exactly one week out from a fill and want to lose the most weight I can before I go to the doctor, so what type of diet do you guys think I should do? I'm thinking low carb, but will that kick in in a week. What kind of crash diets have you guys had success with in th past?

NN32- I often have that endless sense of hunger if I have been eating too many carbs, I really feel that carbs make you crave more carbs, so maybe try doing your Protein and produce and hopefully that endless feeling will go away eventually. I also feel like a bottomless pit around that time of month...don't know what to do about that one! Head hunger is a B!+CH. However you choose to handle it just resolve to have a better day!

Pickles pickles pickles!!!!!! Pickles keep me happy, they are crunchy and salty. I just ate 3 pickles and looked at the nutrition info...It said 0 cal and 0 fat...how about that!!! I think I'll eat some more. I wonder if I can still eat pickles after a fill.

1.I am not sure about the water meal thing either, I am getting it in but I practically have to chug it. I am concerned that I won't be able to chug it after I have had a fill. I am also 1 month out from surgery and I can eat almost as much of anything as I want so I think one cup is normal. I couldn't survive on a 1/4 cup of food. 2. I haven't seen a clothing exchange, some of the members on my yahoo groups are talking about it too and if it happens I will forward it to everyone. 3. My doc wants us to supplement with flax seed oil and fish oil. I haven't yet.

God I love you guys!! Thanks so much for the support. Steph and Kay you are both exactly right, had I been prepared I would have said just that and I regret lying to him, I was kind of put on the spot so to speak. Yesterday was a really sour day for me, thanks for being there when I needed you. This forum really helps me stay away from the food, when I get bored and want to eat I come here and read. IT helps! Gerbera--when do you get to transition to solid food? I get a kick out of your "vitamised" food. I assume that means blended or pureed, right? We haven't had the worst of the weather, we still have power and the main roads are plowed and passable, thank god. I get to get out of the house today and I am really excited even if it means going to work! Here is a little prayer for those without power...

okiefamily replied to blownaway36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one month post op and I cheated, I wouldn't worry about it and just try to do it right from here on out.
