Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
sarapaisley replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi girls Its been a few weeks since ive reported in the last time i said i was hopeing to lose 8 pounds when i went to see Dr Chris and i did exactly that so i was very pleased i also got a fill of 0.75mils and i can really feel the diffrence that takes me up to 6.75mls.I also lost 6 pounds that week and 4 this week so it im well pleased. Its taken some time but i now feel im getting somewhere.(when i had to go back to Belgium in July Freddie told me that my band is a 7mil one but it can hold up to 9 mils). Im booked to go back for another fill on 24th nov as Dr Chris is not in Edinbourgh in Dec, most of the older bansters know how long its taken for me to get to this point and im not sure if i should go,or wait to January as ive started to get somewhere any advice on this, Also i really agree with claire about the weighing and measuring i did this before my op in Feb but lost heart as i was not losing the weight i got my notes and photos out this week and to my suprise iv lost 31 pounds and 2 dress sizes and loads of inches 4 from my tummy ,not where i thought i would be but still a lot better than last year. A note to Sade and claire im not the best person with words but remember we did this for ourselfs we are / or were the ones carrying all that weight around and how do you explain to someone who has never had a weight problem the things we went through from not being able to dress the way we wanted or fitting into plane seats ,i remember trying to paint my toe nails it was impossible even walking in high heels was a nightmare, people will always have something to say i bet thay even commented before we lost weight even if it wasent to our faces. Clare ive followed your story from the star and i think you look amazing 10 years younger at least maybe this is the problem.Whan we had or op we got info book about what to eat and what to expect there was a passage in it about our partners not being thrilled about the changes and feeling threatend or something. Have a great week. -

Hi All Firstly congrats to fattypatty after all your hard work it has paid off for u and hubbie im so pleased keep well and healthy and please keep in touch and let us all know how u are getting on. scoobydoo its great to hear u have passed your 6stone mark a big well done i know u were struggling a few weeks back but it just goes to show i u stick with it ,it does go down in the end. I havent been on in a while as you know i had to go back to get my band fixed in july and he put 5mls in at that time i did feel a small diff but nothing to give me a dramatic weight loss. I had not been for a fill in Aug as Dr Chris was on holiday and as we disscussed before i was not going to let anyone else do my fills. anyway i was in Spain in August myself and Jersey in sep so the next time i could get a fill was 3 weeks ago he put 1ml in and this now takes me up to 6mls i do feel a big diffrence since then dont know how much weight i have lost but i go see him this thurs for a fill and i hope to have lost about 7 to 10 pounds as i would be pleased with that over 3 weeks. -

Hi pearce Ive just come back from Brussels on Wednesday after getting my band fixed i had a leak in the tube that leads from the port to the band.It was pearced during a fill i think it happend on my first fill as chris Depreze could not find my port and i had to go to Edinbourgh the following week to get Dr Chris to fill it.However after 4 fills i new something was wrong as i dident get the same restriction as everyone else i could eat bread ect... no bother i did get the odd thing stuck but not often.I told Dr Chris my concerns and he filled me up to 8.5mls then i went back the following month and he could only get 3mls out and it was yellowish therefor i had a leak How much do you have in your band. When did you get your band fitted.I hope this helps if you have anymore questions just ask and let us know how you get on. -

Hi peeps First well done Kerry on your 4 stone loss keep up the good work . Thanks feckles for your support and i definetly remember you when i was reserching the band i got a good laugh at you and big sister and mmm,and the rest of the gang your banter was so funny at times.Do you still hear from big sis and gillian how are thay getting on tell them to post .Also i only paid for my flights and Dr Chris put 5mls in during op.Oh im glad your daughters are doing. well. Telby i got banded in Feb this year i lost 18pounds after the op then never lost anything else but then thay discoverd i had a leak in the tube that leads from the port to the band and i got it fixed f.o.c. this week so i hope my weightloss will start now. After the op i was back to normal in about 5 days.As for the complications i guess would be slippage, or getting a leak ,some people suffer from acid reflux,The more serious complication the surgen will go over with you .But i would do it again hope this helps. Hi jojo how you getting did you get your stitches out yet.Have you lost any weight? Have a good week everyone. -

Hi freckles Havent seen you on here for ages.Hope you are keeping well how is your family. Well i arrived at the hospital about 1 oclock on mon went straight from the airport so idident have anytime to think about op.I was taken to O R about 2 oclock everything went well and i was sent to hotel around 7oclock.I can honestly say i felt fit enough to fly home that night and i had very little pain but as i was booked into hotel for two nights i decided to make the best of it.I met a few lovely ladies that were getting banded on tue from northern ireland and manchester (ann and tammy) hope you are doing well. I do have a bit of restriction now not loads but definetly more than i did before and im not as hungry yehaaaaaaaaaaa. So i will start a fresh and make good food choices untill i reach total restriction.Freddie said Dr Chris put in 5mls during op and the band had definetly been punctured during fills however he has moved my port and hopefully that will make it a lot easier to get fills and less likely to be punctured again however im going to stick with Dr Chris for my fills infuture. Kerry hope everthing is going ok with you Freddie told me that Dr Chris is on holiday in Aug and he will be doing fills in Edinbourgh so im going to wait and get a fill in sept. Everyone have a good weekend. -

Hi Laila No im not paying to get it fixed i only got my band in Feb this year and i have had 5 fills at £90 a time .Also Dr Chris said the tube could have been punctured on the first fill so its been very expensive so far.Thay are paying for hotel as well and freddie said thay would reimburse my flights by giveing me fills .Dr Chris said he would put 5mils in during op i was hopeing for a bit more but i think he does not want to over fill me as i will not be able to get a defill for 4 to 6 weeks.I am also going to ask him if he is going to bring my port forward a bit as its so deep its hard to get infact only Dr chris can get it. -

Hi Guys Not been on for a while.Last time i posted i was wondering if anyone is going over to Belgium on 11th july as iam going that day for three days to get a leak fixed.Dr Chris told me its only a small procedure.Im going staight to the hospital from my flight on mon and i hope to be up and about that night maybe even back to hotel and i am staying untill wed so i might get a bit of sight seeing done. Laila160 I cant really advise as ive never really had restriction. If i was you i would get him to check and make sure that you have 7.5mils in your band.I do know how frustrating it can be.Before i was diagnosed with a leak i had 8.5mils and everytime i went for a fill i thought ok this is it this will get me to that sweet spot ive heard so much about. However sometimes i would get food stuck and i was confusing that with restriction but most of the time i could eat anything and lots of it.I think most people have reached a good restriction level by 7.5mils (from what ive read on this site) but also everyone is diffrent and reach max restriction at diffrent levels.Hope this helps Hi Kerry i went to Edinbourgh in June to get double checked before going to Belgium did you go ? never saw you there.Hope you have got back on track and you Know the weight will start shifting again soon be patient. Jojo well done and good luck on your weightloss journey. Everyone have a great Summer and i will post when i get back. -

Garry just found your message thanks.Do you think the second op was the begining of your troubles.Freddie sent me a message to say he would give me free fills to pay for my flights considering iv paid almost £400 for fills i was a bit gob smacked.I must admit i had a look at the e/mail you sent them before i sent mine so i could word it right.I was hopeing they will give me a couple of fills when im in belgium.Im a bit scared now after reading about you. I dont think ive had any restriction i do get some things stuck if i eat to fast is this norm. I will keep you up to date -

However ive brushed myself down and started a fresh this morning ive looked out ww books and im going to try and lose a stone before i go to brussels my lovely husband is going to do it with me and my 14 year daughter is going to do help motavate me to do more exercise.I managed to lose 17 pounds on my own with no help from the band and ive got 7 weeks before i go. I have booked to get my nails done tomorrow im getting minx ones one my toes and gel on my fingers. And my hubbie has booked with my dentist to get my teeth whitend so ive got lots of little treats to keep me motavated. Im glad you are getting back into your hill walking it can be so easy to let things slip i bet you feel better for it. Will keep you all posted and have a good week. -

Hi girls Went to see Dr Chris today I told him about not having any restriction i was supposed to have 6.5mls in my band (had a roll and sausage for b/fast before i went) with no problems. He took out what i had in my band and put 1ml extra in.I am a bit confused becouse he said he could get only 5.5 out but sometimes that happens, but if i can eat bread ect then he thinks i might have a leek.I sat in the waiting room took a drink it went down no problem then went back in where he put another 1ml and checked what was in band apparently from what i can gather they cant get all of liquid back out but he said he could feel pressure and i think he got most of it out so i have to give it a couple of days and see if i can still eat the same then i have to e/mail freddie and go back to brussels and get it fixed. The big question is do i have restriction im not sure i had shepards pie for tea and it went down ok( i know your supposed to do liq for 24hrs but needed to know, however pie was very soft and mushy) Im a bit scared to try bread becouse if i can eat it then i guess i have a leek. Some people say that restriction dosent kick in for a couple of days and i do feel a bit of a diffrence but not on the same level as other bandsters considering i have got 8.5mls in although Dr Chris says i have 8.5mls in on paper so i think he means that some has leeked out or not put in properly. On a good note apparently i lost 4 pounds this month but i know thats becouse of will power and not the band. A big well done claire im so pleased for you.You look amazing you should change your name to yummy mummy now.You are not only a great roll model for us but your always there to give us honest and sensible advice and support . I saw scoobydoo at the clinic today she is looking really well.If you are reading this scooby im glad u were there when i came back out as i thought i was going to burst out crying (im a soft git) oh and i hope you never got a ticket. -

Thanks Girls For your advice I cant tell u what it means to me to have u all out there. After reading all your posts i have woke up this morning with some hope and i am going to take all your advice on board.I think there is a lot of sense in what claire was saying about me and other people expecting me to have lost more weight by now. Also i cant tell my friends ect... how i was feeling as i felt as if ive failed.Do u remember how we all felt when we got the band full of enthusiasm and hope and plans....... i seemed to have lost that somewhere in the last couple of weeks. So the plan is today to enjoy my day dont think about it.Start afresh tomorrow take a note of weight and inches and go see Dr Chris. Many thanks again Scooby doo my apt is at 2 oclock might see you there. -

Hi slinky Thanks for your quick response yes i do walk and ive just bought a pair of skechers tone up flip-flops i live in Ayr Scotland and i live near the beach me and my friend walk along to the pier and back about 2.5 miles. As for my fills.Chris takes it out and then fills it back in everytime ive been for a fill so i dont have a leek. When i go to see him on Thurs im going to have a proper chat intead of saying i feel fine and being filled and sent on my way. Did u feel any restriction at all before you got 7.5mls i think i read it in one of your posts that you are eating more since you got 1.5mls taken back out do you think 7 and 7.5 are the magic numbers i really hope so.Thanks again for your support i guess its hard for bansters who get restriction quickly to understand how fusrating it is it feels as if im doing something wrong. -

Hi laila Where are we going wrong.I read on here people who have restriction at 5mls ect or 3 fills honestly you would not know ive got a band never mind 3 fills. And i have been sticking to the rules 90% of the time ive cut out wine took up walking i even went on to slimfast for a week last week but i cant keep that up its so depressing and i get hungry. How much can a band hold. im going to make sure i get 1ml this week and if that does not work then i guess im goosed and i dont think ill be forking out any more money i feel as though im throwing it away. -

Hi Girls Havent been posting for a while as im so fed up im at that stage where i am begining to think ive wasted all that money on surgery. And as a result i feel like a total failure.I have had 3 fills now and a total of 6.5mls in my band and i have no restriction what so ever.I can eat bread pasta rice and in fairly big portion size.I have lost 17.5 pounds since surgery in feb and nothing since (im 284 pounds) so i should be losing a lot more weight than that.I know that the first couple of fills dont help much but i really think i should feel some restriction now.I do realise the band is only a tool but its not doing its job and as a result im obviously eating too much.I could start counting cals again or go to ww but it never worked in the past and thats why i opted for surgery.Im going to see chris this thurs and i think i need to get a decent fill and a proper chat to see where im going wrong.Im so sorry to be so negative but i do think people need to know its down sides as well.If there is anyone out there who has been in my position id love to hear from u or any advice would be helpful i cant tell you how depressed this is making me i dont think i have ever felt so low. However a big well done to fatty patty i am so pleased for u and i pray that everything goes smooth and stress free from now on. -

Hi irish I am the exact same as u i got my band done on16th feb. I lost 14pounds the first two weeks then between 4 and 6 pounds since i lose 2 pounds then gain 2 pounds. Can eat anything and in good size portions.I even joined ww this week again and thats a road i thought i would never go down a gain.I am even contemplating going for 2 fills this month as i can go to glasgow on 22nd and edinbourgh on 28th.However if i never had the band done i would have put on about half a stone or more since feb insted of losing 18 pounds and after reading back posts on this sight it is normal what were going through think thay call it (band hell).I can relate to how you feel as everyone knew i was going for the band and keep asking me how much weight ive lost ect.I tell them i only weigh at fill time but i feel so good this seems to work for now. Keep your chin up it will happen -
