MOODS MEDS AND THE BAND
thinnerJT commented on Hopeful to be full's blog entry in Hopeful to be full's Blog
I take effexor (venlafaxine) for anxiety. I kept taking it up to the day of surgery. I was taking an extended-release capsule, so after surgery they switched me to non XR twice a day. I actually feel it works better because the medication is more even. Surgery and post-op was very emotional for me, even continuing my medications. I would talk to your surgeon about taking the meds in case they need to change your dosage post-op. -
October Bandsters!!!

Hello everyone. I was banded Oct. 4 and had a 1cc fill on Nov.21. I'm discouraged because I gained 3 pounds this week! I was one pound shy of being halfway to my goal, so this is a real setback. I'm back to my old habit of eating a "snack" at night (more like one of my regular meals). I go back for another fill on Monday, sure hoping I get more restriction this time. -
The only one I like is EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control - Chocolate Fudge. I have found them at Target and WalMart. I like the RTD better than powder.

I had my first fill last Monday (November 21). I got 1 cc of fluid and it hurt like hell! It took the doctor 4 tries to get the needle in - he said the port was "encapsulated"? Anyone ever heard of this? What do I do? Is it going to hurt every time I get a fill? -

Has anyone else had this happen? I was banded on 10/4 (~4 weeks pot-op) and had been on mushies for week 3. I had to eat out twice because we were out of town, so I did the best I could and got grilled chicken (chew, chew, chew), mashed potatoes, and carrots or broccoli. When I got on the scale Tuesday morning I had gained back 1/2 pound! I had been losing weight rather rapidly until that point. Yesterday I started on soft foods and I am very concerned that I'll gain even more weight! Someone told me this can happen any time you change up your diet -- is that true? Or am I eating too much? I left most of my dinner on my plate - before the band I would have eaten all of it! Help! I'm worried that I went through all of this pain, money, time, effort, etc. just to lose the 31 pounds I have already lost!! -

I was banded on Oct. 4 and finally got clearance to start mushy and soft foods today. I never thought 1/4 cup tuna, 1/4 cup soft broccoli, and 1/4 cup mashed potatoes would look or taste so wonderful! I met with my nutritionist today and she went over a sample menu - I was only on clear and full liquids for three weeks. I have to up my protein intake. I'm just so relieved to be able to chew food again! -

Hi and congratulations to everyone! I was banded Oct. 4th, and came home the next day. I've been on a liquid diet since - Water, Protein shakes, broth - so I've been getting really tired about an hour after I "eat". The hardest part is watching everyone else eat all my favorite foods! I have lost 6.5 pounds in the week since surgery, so that makes it easier to hang on. I'm really out of shape - any ideas for fitness goals? -
Any Banders in the Greensboro, NC area??? CCS??
thinnerJT replied to IamMama's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I went to the seminar with Dr. Enochs, but was told my insurance (Aetna) did not cover them. My closest option is CCS in Greensboro. Has anyone been banded by them? How was your experience? I just attended their seminar (had to drive from Raleigh) last week.
