I would really love to hear from someone who also has lupus. I am 21 and have have lupus for oh 5 years. I really want to know about any differences with the band that you have experienced. I have had a good time with mine banded on 23rd of Nov. I was worried about erosion, my dr told me we are especially prone to it. How do your meds work with the band? I am on plaquial (sp), I broke down and decided to finally take some. Just wanted to get to know someone in the same boat. Love, Sam

YOU ARE GOING TO BE HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY
sam3841 replied to cheryl2586's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just want to say that we still need to be nice to people who are not nice to us. The best revenge is living well. I love when someone asks a question already asked because I can relate to them and maybe help them. I am not really hungry. I do eat more than I should but I am working on my issues with food. I know I need to work with my issues with alcohol, but hey I am 21 and want to have fun. I know that eventually I will lose my weight. Let's be nice, no matter how experienced we are. The world is tough on us as it is we need to support each other completely. -
"Sweet Spot" How many cc's did it take to reach?
sam3841 replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sweet spot is also referred to as the green zone. Is the amount in the band at which you continue to lose 2 lbs a week and can eat properly. The band is not too tight, but allows enough restriction that you can continue to lose weight well. I haven't hit mine but I have another fill on wednesday. I have 5.5 ccs. I have read that the sweet spot for most people is 7-9 ccs. -
I am Miss Clumsy. I was in the kitchen, alone, at my friend's house, a lot my friends were over and I fell. Everyone was like its okay its just Stacy! I think it is because we don't have a lot of muscle (if you are like me) so we have bad balance or our balance skills are lacking.

Sorry my computer goofed. I really love myself now and I want my outside to reflect my inside. I wanted to do it young because I want to enjoy the benefits of being young without be judged by weight, not that I care very much what others think about me. My whole family is overweight, I don't want to go through what they do go through. I want to set a good example for nephew, when no one did that for me, well at least not with healthy habits. Love, Stacy

I lost a lot of weight by myself in high school, by starving myself and working out for hours everyday. I wanted to be pretty like my friends. I became anorexic and had no self-confidence. That changed when I went college. I realized that the new friends I made only liked me for how I looked now, not for who I was really. I gained all the weight back. I have changed a lot since then, stayed close friends with my true friends and made friends who really care about me.

Hey! I am 21! I got banded Nov 23rd this year. I understand how radical of a decision it was, considering how young we are. But I wanted to do it soon because I still want to be young enough to enjoy the benefits of it! Love, Stacy

I know exactly how you feel. I had surgery on the 22 of November. I paid for it myself. I had good restriction for the first week and half then it started to feel like the surgery never happened. I had my first fill yesterday and I am back to the restriction I felt earlier. Just realize that it will get better and you have to work with it! at least I hope so. Turns out I also had 4cc in the band but it felt like nothing. now I have 5.5cc.Good Luck, I know its hard. My family has sweets everywhere.

Any Kansas City bandsters???????
sam3841 replied to ladykcusa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey bandcamp! I was banded at Malley! I was so scared; but once I got there, everything was so smooth and the nurses/doctors knew exactly how everything should go. My surgery was at 10am and I woke up around 12. I was moving around really quickly and left around 2:30. They are great. The nurse was constantly there, I doubt I could even try to get out of bed without them rushing into my room. I have lost 20lbs in a month! I healed really quickly. I did not throw up once and I stopped taking the pain meds 3 days after surgery. I am in Lee's Summit! Hope this helps, Stacy -
I was banded only a month ago and I know I should not, but I am 21 and enjoyed getting buzzed after taking my finals. I stuck to wine for a while but needed a couple of shots. I would recommend spending a little extra so there is not much affect from the cheap stuff.

Anyone on antidepressants or moodstabilizers
sam3841 replied to ninelivedlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded a month or so ago and haven't had any problems with my pills. I take cymbalta and seroquel. The only change I made was other than swallowing them at once, I take them one at time and take a sip in between. Good luck! -
I dont feel different after surgery
sam3841 replied to evvieNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When they originally put in the band, usually they do not fill it at all. The time between when the band goes in and your first fill is time to allow the stomach to heal. I was banded on the 23rd of November. For the first week I felt full all the time, now I feel the exact same as I did before I was banded. A couple days ago I ate pizza! But I think that may have been bad because my stomach felt horrible all night. This period is all about will power. I started eating solid foods early, but I chewed a lot and have not had any problems. Hope this helps, Stacy -
I have to be honest, I was banded two weeks ago and I can eat pretty much anything just a lot lot less (I chew it a lot too). I had a small salad for lunch today and it was fine!

When I was in High School, I lost weight the "old fashion" way with diet and exercise. But I was so overweight, it seemed like it would take forever, so I became obsessed. I workout daily for 2 hours and ate only 1200 calories. I was a slave to my weight loss and I was constantly starving. When I went to college I gained it all back and then some. I tired to get back to were I was but I didn't want to become a slave to my weight loss again. People who have never been very overweight don't know how hard it is and how horrible people can treat you when you try (you know what I mean the look people give you when you go to the gym as if you don't belong there). I chose to have Lapband because I didn't want to become a slave to my weight loss again. That's what I tell people and if they tell me I should have done it the "old fashion" way then they clearly have no idea how hard it is. After all only 5% of all people on a diet succeed in keeping the weight off!!!!

Banded 11/30/10
sam3841 replied to SouthFloridaDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery last Tuesday and when I woke up there was so much pressure in my shoulder. My nurse told me that the sooner I got up and started walking the pressure would decrease. So as soon as I could I got up and walked even though it hurt. The gas pain did decrease. So I would suggest walking around if you can. When you get up press a pillow against your stomach to provide some support and make sure to swing your legs over first. Hope you feel better.
