Also there is very little independent research claims made by hcg diet and other diet pills. No journals support these claims, but usually claim that the fat loss is due to the 500 calorie intake. That is just based on the independent studies.

Okay I have read everyone's comment and this is coming from a person who has spent a lot of researching not only the hcg diet but I have also studied hormones affects on the body in college. I am not trying to being judging or say anything that isn't based on scientific data I have learned. Hcg diet uses a small about of the hcg hormone women product while prego, meaning in proportion to what their bodies produce daily it is small. Hcg is used to diet nutrients mainly sugar away from the body to the fetus, meaning your body will have a higher sugar if it not consumed by a fetus. While you will burn an extra 2500-3500 calories a day, it does put an increase strain on the heart. It is not true that there are no side effects, there are several and you should read up on them, mainly heart issues. Yes the hormones are natural, but all hormones are and can be deadly if out of control (example steroids and thyroid hormones). However that being stated all diet pills or hormones in this case carry along side it dangerous side effects in a small proportion of those taking them. If you chose these you should tell your Dr and have blood work done, which will indicate if you having on of these side effects. I am not a Dr and neither is anyone who has posted. Be upfront with Dr, so he can check if it will affect any other medications you may be on. That being stated, I wish you luck and I think anything you choose is your choice and should respected by others. Do your research and you will be fine.

Why Are We Not Allowed To Drink Sodas After Lap Band Surgery?
sam3841 replied to mztmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My phone autocorrected. I meant bubbles, which is what causes the stomach problems and gas. I only still diet soda so there are no calories. Also don't add ice to it until after you let it sit out. But always remember to check with your Dr. -
Why Are We Not Allowed To Drink Sodas After Lap Band Surgery?
sam3841 replied to mztmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never had any problems with soda. Like they said everyone is different. Just to be safe until you know how you woolly react pour the soda into a big cup and let it sit pre 15 mins and stir it up. It should get most of the bubble out, which is what causes the calories. Just make sure you follow your drs order on how Mich water you drink daily, soda doesn't count and you never drink during meals. I drink a diet Dr peppr or Dr Pepper ten about everyday. -
When Will I See What Everyone Else Sees?
sam3841 replied to ohaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The thing no one ever tells you about weightloss, is there has to be an inward transformation too. 4 years ago I lost 80 lbs on my own and it took me months to see myself as beautiful. Now that I am on the journey again, I have to make the inward transformation again. The thing with losing weight is you need to consider yourself as a work in process but still look back and see how far you have come, ever pound you lost or will lose gets you one step closer to your own masterpiece. I would start looking in the mirror and say I love my eyes or something like that and everytime add something new to the list. It will also help with your confidence. I love shapewear gods gift to women! -

You should definitly call your Dr. My Dr said you shouldn't be able to see the port and you should only feel it if you press down, but every Dr is different on their placement and attachment of the port. I can't see my mine and j have to be laying down to feel it. -

I agree with you elcee, but I don't have any experience with being short; I've been 5'11 since the 6th grade. But my grandma is 4'11 and has told me how much adversity she has faced in her life. I also think that tall women are discriminated against. All my friends make fun of how tall I am and I used to get laughed at for being taller than all the boys in school. I know that my problems aren't as extented yours is though. The thing that I really hate about being tall is I have really big feet and they never have shoes in my size, my grandma has the same problem and she has to go shopping in the kids section. I think the reason obese person are discriminated against is because anyone can become fat and people are really scared that they might become fat so they lash out at what they are afraid of to make themselves feel better. -

I know exactly what you mean. Obese people who go to the gym are stared and laughed at, but then when they don't they are called lazy and humilated. I think the only way to change this is to stand up for yourself. I wish I could back and tell my 7th grade self to tell them to go, excuse my language,f@@% yourself. I don't remember how young I was when first started to get mad fun of and that is really sad. Now I know how beautiful I was even though I was fat. Why do we teach our child to look past the stereotypes of others but never correct them they make fun of fat people. Now I know I still look and the mirror and wish I was skinnier and still think that if I were skinner people would accept me more, but I am still the same person on the inside and that should be what is important. The only way to change this is to call people out on it. I do it now, whenever I am public and I see or hear someone making fun of a fat person. I say " how dare you judge someone like that, they are still a person and deserve the same amount of respect as you give to anyone one else." You should see the look on some of their faces. You should do it to and let people know its not okay. -

My sister and I have never had a good relationship which is why I am having such a hard time helping her. I told her about the lapband but I told her the importance of working out, so I bought a bunch of dvds which I can't get her to do with me and I can't get her go on a walk with my mom and I. I also told her she should see a therapist to help her with her depression and food issues, but she won't. I don't what else I could do to help her. I worked really hard to pay for the lapband while still being a full time student (making my last payment this month). She is really jealous of everything I have done, but won't even make a first step. If you have any ideas on how I can help, I would really appreciate it soooooo much cause I am out of ideas. -
1 Wk Post Op And I've Already Cheated Several Times.....
sam3841 replied to ktmoss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You used the term noob, I don't like it, but looking above at some of the people who responded most of them said they are in post-op diet plans. After reading your post again I was rash in my comment and I am sorry. I just don't think scolding her will help. Looking back on my surgery in 2010, I wish I could tell myself not to cheat cause the torture will be over soon, but I don't think it would have made any difference. That being said, if you have cheated, I would tell your Dr at your next visit or call your nurses line. They know how you are feeling and have good solutions. When I did call them cause I was starving, or at least thought I was, she suggested adding Fiber to my Protein shakes, sugar free fudgesilces (sp) they are 25 calories. If you are in the misguided stage add fiber to Greek yogurt. Chewing gum when you get hungery really helped me. -

sam3841 replied to ktmoss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hold on! I never said you listen to me instead of your Dr, I actually said the exact opposite, that you should listen to your Dr. I don't think she was asking is it okay to cheat on your post-op diet and that if you did cheat did something bad happen. Cheating was what got us all there, but I don't think you need to be so judgemental. It might be true that you shouldn't cheat and the rules are there for a reason, but no one is perfect and especially in the earlier stages of banding food has a greater power than later on. It happens, the point is to focus on why it happened and what we can do to prevent it happening. Nice name calling by the way. -

She's gone to psychologist before but quits after a couple sessions because they say something about her she doesn't want to hear. She just went for her consultation today and found out she'll have to through the 6 month exercise and diet regime before her insurance will approve but she is losing her coverage in April. When I asked her what she was going to do she said say fat forever. I ask her to go to the gym with me but she said no, I think it ksonely going to get worse from her with her jealousy. I was a self pay so I don't understand why she can't too. -
Portion Sizes (Knowing When To Stop)
sam3841 replied to stac7975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not meaning to make this more complicated than it already is, but you also need to be concerned about how you eat what you eat (ie what order). You need to eat our protein first, a fist or palm size then move on to veggies then if you still aren't full you can eat carbs or starchy foods. I usually have a hard time doing this cause I love sandwiched but I stick to this bread product called flat out. They are low carbs and low calorie. Have fun good lick -

Don't stress yourself out for cheating. I cheated, I had solid food two days after surgey, well mashed potatoes. I am not saying its okay to cheat, you should try to do what your Dr says to do. Everyone heals differently and handles food differently. The key to cheating, or as Dr oz says cheat in the right way ) I love Dr oz). Please remember more than likely you have no liquid in your band so no restriction, you are going to be hungery as hell, it will help if you eat high protein high fiber foods which will help keep you full till you are out of bandster hell. -

My family is usually worse than my friends. My mom and my sister always say when are going to stop losing, you look so good now. I want to say my bmi has me just under the obese. My sister is worse than my mom, but it wasn't until recently that she looked it to having lapband. The only thing is I don't think she would be very good at the lapband, if she doesn't work on her depression first. I don't know how to tell her this without discouraging her. My surgeon never had me go to a therapist. What should I do? -

Depo Shot And Lapband

Depo Shot And Lapband
sam3841 replied to Yolanda Swing-banks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am actually getting my first depo shot today, so I will let you know what happens on the scale. My gyneo said that since you work out so much you really should not gain any weight. Hope j can keep losing though. He said the weight gain is no different than any other birth control. -
Lump/stuck/feeling Between My Throat Area
sam3841 replied to genesishanna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He pain/ stuck feeling can be many things. If it isn't assoicated with eating, its possible that it would be an early warning sign of a heart attack, I saw it on Dr Oz. I love his show. I would try taking medicine to get rid of gas and move you body around to try to loosen up the gas. If that doesn't work I would call you Dr. -
I drink at Dr pepper ten everyday and it actually helps me when I have sweet craving and calms my appetite, if any. I think everyone is different. I usually do let mine sit for about 5 mins when I open it.

Warm fluids works everytime for me, especially those times I can't get to the Dr. It's usually the case that you are just swollen, stay away from cold fluids. It does take s lot to cause a band to slip, I had food poisoning and threw up for literally 10 hours straight and still didn't slip.
