  1. Can I clarify something? Muscle does not weigh more than fat. 1 lb of muscle is equal to 1 lb of fat. They are both 1 lb. The difference is 1lb of muscle is denser than 1 lb of fat, therefore it takes up less space.
  2. I had blood work done awhile ago and everything was in the normal range. I think it depends on your diet and the vitamins you take.

    Anyone Doing Or Did Insanity....

    I am doing insanity. I think the sign of a good workout is if you are sore the next day and man I am always sore, but I think of it as the muscles are growing. They are real short like 40 mins and I like the stretches.
  4. Please don't feel frustrated. This time is for recovery not weight loss. Be careful with your band and loving with your stomach its gone through a lot lately. Having the band put in does not mean you will have restriction. If this was true why there be fills at all? I lost 16 lbs after surgery and then I didn't have any restriction at all, and could eat anything and more than I wanted. Please be patient and wait till get some fills.
  5. Yesterday I reached a goal I wanted for a long time. I got to onderland! And I only have 20 more lbs till my bmi is in normal range (I am 5'11). I have lost 94lbs, which is 80% of my excess weight. I am getting really scared that the weight is going to come off real slowly now, but I am patient. My Dr has even asked if I would take part in a commerical for the lapband. I am starting Insanity today and the normal weight loss, if you complete the program from what I have seen is 30 lbs given that you have 30lbs to lose. I would add pics but its doing this weird distorting thing from my phone.

  7. If your having sexual frustration until your Dr gives you an okay I would invest in little toy for down under. Also you may want to start with positions with little belly moment for you ( guy on top, standing up) mainly you don't want to stress your an muscles too much
  8. I have been in a work out rut and am getting close to my goal weight. I used to be extremely fit and love challenging myself. I keep seeing ads for Insanity and I love Sean T but I don't know if I amfit enough to do either program. I am only like 20lbs overweight and workout 5x a week for two hour including either jogging or eliptical training. I was just wondering if anyone has done either program. It says on the website its for all fitness levels as long as you give your 100% effort. It would be awesome to see if I could do it. But what do you think?

    Soda :(

    I think everyone is different. I can drink soda just fine. But its always diet or that Dr. Pepper 10. I have always been very upfront with my Dr. I talked to her last fill and asked her the soda question. She said she would prefer if I didn't because it stretches the pouch so I could eat more. But I usually only drink a soda when I have a sweet carving and she said then that she would prefer I drink the soda than eat the sweet.

    Feeling Guilty :/

    I follow Heidi Klum's (look at her body and after three kids) diet plan: follow your diet plan 6 days a week then on Sunday eat whatever you want. Studies have soon that when you follow a very strict and restrictive diet plan when you cheat you cheat bigger than those who give into to their carvings in small amounts. Meaning if you eat that small piece of chocolate when you really want it, it will prevent you from eating the entire bag later. This works for me. Don't beat yourself up. If you wanted to be only follow your diet perfectly well don't you want to occasionally enjoy your food and eat what you really love?
  11. Hello, I have been banded for a year and a half. On a typical day I eat about 1600 calories. Like today I had scrambled eggs with milk and cheese. I am getting ready to eat a lean cuisine and then for dinner I eat what family eats for dinner, but I always eat the meat first, then veggies then carbs. I also eat two snacks a day which are usually either a protein shake or a cheese stick. I work out 5x a week two hours a day so I need to consume more calories. When you workout with less than sufficient calories your body burns fat and muscle which if you are trying to increase your metabolism is not a good thing.

    Gained Weight!

    The way most people's journey happens in the first couple weeks they lose weight quickly, which is mainly water weight. This time is meant for healing and weight lose is just a plus. Then the following months you will be in Bandster hell with no restriction. Once you have had enough fills you will begin losing 1-2 lbs a week. Don't try to lose weight to quickly or you will have more sagging. Remember this journey is a marathon not a sprint.

    5'4 Whats Your Goal Weight?

    I just Google it and the first one that comes up is the membership one and the second is the gallery. I am thinking I might submit a picture, but I still can't stand looking at pictures of myself. I need to work on that and remind myself I am a lot skinner now. The website really helped me figure out what I truly look like.

    Taste Buds Changed?

    Your taste buds change and in a sense die throughout your life. For example have you ever noticed that older people seem to crave sweet things? ( I know we all do but in some cases its the only thing they eat) This is because the sugar taste buds are the last to give out so the flavors from other foods are just not as strong. Your body may adjust its carving for specific foods by changing which taste buds are the most active. If you are craving olives it may your bodys way of saying it needs more salt, an imbalance in your water to salt ratio. Or more of a vitamin olives are high in.

  17. I was warned about band errosion because I had another condition that increase it. I was told if it happened my band would be removed and I would have the option of getting the sleeve. You may have inflammation from the fill, I would try warm liquids. Like whenever I am stuck or too tight I drink hit tea. But you should contact your Dr immediately and do a GO scope. If they say its fine then maybe you should get an unfilled. But that will be up to your Dr. Remember they are the ones who have been professionally train in this and any advice you get off here will come from personal experience and research.
  18. When I was 17, which I am still pretty young but I got down to 150. I am 5'11. While my bmi said I was in the healthy range, looking back I could see my ribs, collars bone and my hips stuck out, but I was still a size 10I don't always think bmi is good indicator. You should go by body fat. Your Dr normally sets a more realistic goal. While we don't want to admit most people who get the lapband won't get down to their ideal weight loss goal. Typically patients lose only 50-60% of their excess weight.
  19. I have been thinking about this for a while. I am 5'11 and according to the bmi scale my healthy range is between 135 and 179. But I do a lot of weight training. I started at 294. Right now I am at 200 and when I talked to my Dr she said I should stay around 190 to 200. I told her that I would still be considered over weight and she said they go by the bmi scale. So idk.

    Sleeping On Your Stomach

    I sleep in my stomach every night. When I was first banded I couldn't because it did hurt. My nurse said to sleep in my side and hold a pillow up to my stomach. The pillow also really helped to support my stomach when I stood up for about a week after
  23. Yes! I have lost over 90 lbs. I was banded at 21 cause I wanted to make this change for life. I used a student loan to pay for it which I will be paying off for years but I love being called healthy and even skinny. I love the fact that I workout now and don't feel like I am starving trying to lose weight. I am training for my first 5k which I could never had done at 300lbs

    Couch To 5K

    The place I got fitted didn't charge anything. Which is probably because the shoes are more expensive. I ends up with a pair of brocks whig were like $140. He said my ankles roll when I walk and my arch falls. Wow it was such a change and it really helped with my joints while running. I don't wear anything else when I run. The only problem with them is they only come in one style and its pretty ugly in my opinion. I am in week 5 of c25k. I usually do 40 minutes on the eliptical after I finish that up.

    I was told no exercising for a month other than walking. The thing is with all that bouncing involved in running you could damage the port. Follow your Dr orders there is a reason he told you wait and remember he is the Dr not you
