Now just wait until your underpants are too big! That's a great feeling too!

My surgeon's office took care of checking it all out for me. I never had to contact BC/BS at all.

Why did you get the LAP-BAND and not the sleeve or gastric bypass?
Mardot replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't tell anyone other than my kids and my fiance. I didn't want his kids to know or anyone else. I'm a pretty private person. I think that's why I like this site so much. It's a place to talk with others who have had the surgery, No judgments made here! My insura10.00 per visit for the fills. Changed insurance and now have to pay $38.00 per visit but BC/BS has covered everything else. I had never heard of the sleeve until recently. -

I went with the lapband because it was outpatient surgery, much faster recovery time and it seemed to be less drastic. I also wanted to lose 75 - 90 pounds. So...after talking to the surgeon, this is the one we agreed would be best for me. Everyone is different. I have had fills and un-fills and there have been times when I wondered if I would have been better off with the bypass. Then I remind myself that I have to take reponsibility and the problems I have had are due to eating too fast, taking too large a bite and allowing myself to get too stressed at work (the stress has caused heartburn at night and resulted in needing an un-fill). -
Clothing didn't bother me but going out to buy a new mattress was a killer! What was I thinking?! They must have thought I was nuts, I had to roll off each mattress that I tried out.

I had my surgery 17 months ago. I am 5' 7". I weighed 247. Had to do the two weeks of liquids prior to surgery. I was 227 the day of the surgery. By March (8 months) I was down to 175. I have had problems with heartburn and vomiting on and off. Right now I have very little in the band. (don't know how much) I have been eating way to much and foods that I shouldn't be eating. My weight yesterday morning was 184. So...yesterday I started the pre-surgery liquid diet. I plan on doing it for a week. Hoping to eliminate the sugar cravings and to get myself back on track. I would like to get down to 155 although that may be too low for me. I will have to see how I look and feel as I get closer to my goal!

Had my surgery 18 months ago. Anyone else that far out? Are you still losing, how often do you have fills? Do you still feel restriction when you eat?

This site is great. I had the day off from work, found this website and really feel like I can get back on track!

my "unfills" are because of reflux too. I am doing the same pre-op liquid diet for a week to try to get back on track. I would like to lose about 25 - 30 more and get off my blood pressure meds. I had started a very bad habit of drinking a little water when I was eating, it seemed to help with the reflux during the day but I know I shouldn't be doing it.

I'm starting to do the journal again to get back on track. I think I did much when I tracked the food. I'm using "myfitnesspal". Very easy to use.

On days when I know my protein low I still have carnation instant breakfast with whey powder for extra protein, also use simply smart milk, it has more protein.

How often do you see your surgeon? Do you feel restricted still? What do you typically eat in a day, how often etc...

I had my surgery a year ago this past July. I've had to have fluid removed several times after having really bad heartburn at night. I have had to have it removed after I have thrown up a few days in a row. He puts little in, I seem to be okay for about a week and then I have problems. I don't really feel much restriction but I am scared to have more put in due to what has happened in the past. I'm wondering if the heartburn could be due to stress. (changed jobs and working a ton of hours trying to get the system in shape). I know that I am eating way more than I should as well as foods that I shouldn't be eating. I am going to try doing the liquid diet that I had to do before the surgery for a week or so, see if I can get myself back on track.

Keep up the great job!
