  4. :smile2:[/size] I haven't been on lap-band talk for 3 years. I'm very discouraged. My starting weight was 262. I lost 40 lbs in the first year, since then nothing. I've been to the doctor for all my fills. Even he doesn't know why. He thought that maybe my band was too tight and I shut down my metabolism. So he opened my band a little. and gave my body a rest. happens Then we filled it back up again. I have restriction but still nothing. this is what happens I loose 40 to 50 lbs. then my body stops. I've had my thyroid checked and everything s fine. I even talked to my family doctor and he agreed that my metabolism could have shut down and also maybe one of the medications I was on could have helped me maintain my weight. So we changed it. I did loose the 7 lbs that I gained when the band was opened, but thats all. I was afraid I was going to fail at this attempt too. I said that to the surgeon when I first started and he said that it was impossible to fail. Well I did lose 40 anyway. but I thought by now I would be getting rid of this stomach apron I"m tired of my back hurting every day from it.:frown::smile2::thumbup::w00t:
  5. :skep::skep: :thumbup: haven't been to my doctor in 1 year. just went and told him my prob. he put more in my band and sent me to a nutrition. I hope this time it works.

    Hi beth, I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear . I ordered hot decaf tea and made it while I was eating, then asked for a to go cup filled with ice and made my own iced tea to go and drink it later. Thats something I always do because no one has decaf iced tea. I do ask for water because if I need a tiny sip, enough to keep my throat wet or sometimes food get stuck in my throat. I can feel the food in my pouch and it stays there for a while before it go through. I can feel it. Thanks for caring Alyssa

    today my friend called me and we walked the middle school track it felt good, then we got breakfast. I had decaf. hot tea and ice water, 1 egg beaters and 1 piece of bacon. the tea i drank later, i got a togo cup with ice to make iced tea. Dinner tonight will be grilled turkey meat no bun, grilled veggies like mushrooms, onions, zucchini, tomatoes, asparagus, eggplant. sounds like a lot but i have a few people to feed. trust me i'll probably get down some meat, and whatever veggie i can get soft enough, and then i'll be full. Thanks for talking to me it helps to talk to someone who is banded. my friends just don't understand. Keep up the good eating habits and maybe you and i will see a difference soon.

    fast foods I have a problem with it won't go down. if i have a burger, it is w/out the roll. and i can't even think about fries. but by the time i eat the burger I'm full. bread of any kind NO WAY! but if i toast rye bread and make it hard i can get a few bits before it gets stuck. not worth it. once something gets stuck and the sliming starts i can't eat for 1 hr. breakfast usually is crangrape juice w/benefiber in it and my 8 pills, then I'm full thats around 7:00 am. at 1:00 p.m. i may have tomatoe soup or cottage cheese or yogurt. if I'm home for dinner it would be some kind of protein ad some kind of canned veg. if I'm out i omit the veg. because i can't get it cooked soft enough to get it down. sometimes i will eat salad if it goes or i ask for cucumbers and vinegar. i think my biggest thing is that i don' exercise. but that is going to end soon.

    no not exercising but I am starting. going to join a gym. what kinds of food were you eating? I thought I was making the right choices. I think I was doing what my dr. said to do. staying away from foods that get stuck eat first protein then veg.

    yes I do eat slowly and chew if I dont I'm in trouble. when i don't eat I'm not hungry. i drink water a lot, protein shakes make me not go to the bathroom (if you know what i mean) I use a lot of benafiber. I try to eat turkey, chicken, tuna, egg...when I can get it down

    I do think its a good idea. when I was on ww I kept a journal for about 4 years. then too I only lost 50 lbs. I guess it is tim to start a new one

    Hi, some days I think I don't eat enough. I can go all day without eating and then try to eat and end up sliming. (i think that is the term) and then other days I eat too much. I learned something new today by reading the threads. the word is sliders. I do eat things that go down easy I thought is what you were to do? I need someone to set me straight again. I wish I had a daily menu to follow it would be easy for me.

    weight watchers would be wonderful! I used to be on this diet. but if there is a diet from weight watchers that is adapted for lap-banders count me in. I think I need to get back to the basics or maybe a daily diet menu to follow.

    hi susan did u get your band yet? I did on Oct. 2, 2006. I've lost about 9 - to 12 lbs. it changes I also have 50% evaporation and I just went for my 4th fill and I don't feel any restriction yet. On top of it all by no fault of Dr. Artuso the day after my banding I went to get the sip test before I was sent home, and the teck. didn't hold the table and I fell and to make a long story short this past Friday I just got my Shoulder operated on due to the fall. I hope that I start to loose weight soon! I'm getting discouraged. The earlier weight loss happened in the first week after banding. http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/faint.gif

I'm going for my 4th fill on friday, at my 3rd fill I still have no restriction and I found out that I have 50% evaporation. has anyone out there have the same problem? and I might add I have lost 9 - 10 lbs since oct.2nd and it is now 3 months later( the weight lost came in the 1st week after the banding). I've been reading other threads and not much good news. Starting to think what did I do to myself.

    thanks for the reply it is nice to know that I'm not alone. Do you feel restriction? and the 9-10 lbs that I lost happened in the 1st week after my surgery and nothing after that for 3 months I'm up to my 4th fill and no restriction
