Thanks everyone....I actually just had surgery about 4 and half months ago so I am still kind of getting used to the idea and still dont feel ready to share with everyone, but yes, it is probably time to move on

    So Upset :(

Thanks so much bigtom...Congrats & Good luck to you too on your journey
  3. for me, usually it happens right away. what does pb mean???
  4. I doubt your band slipped. My NP told me that you wouldn't even be able to get down water if your band slipped.
  5. I would say to maybe get a small unfill...I went through something similar recently and my NP told me that if I couldnt keep anything down for several days that means you are too tight and you dont want your band to slip if everything is continually coming back up.
  6. Im just about 5' 7" and at 184 lbs....i am wearing a size 14 comfortably (or 12 a little snug) ---- hope that helps

    Yell At Me PLEASE!

Thanks so much everyone! I am definitely going to keep smarter food choices at hand. I had my fresh fruit again this morning and am officially back on track...lol! I want that scale to keep going in one direction! @Jen (Band 29) - I don't feel too much restriction at this point either to be honest, but there is a definite difference from before surgery. I didnt realize how much discipline would be involved with the band pre-surgery. I am guilty of thinking that I wouldnt have to do as much work...lol, but hey, I am glad because I am learning the proper way to eat and have some help at the same time. Other than the few slip-ups I mentioned, I have really been sticking to 1200 calories per day, I journal all my food (I just jot it down on anything, a napkin, envelope...lol....whatever is handy) and I think that is what keeps my weight loss going. At my last fill on June 8, I was concerned that my band eventually would get filled all the way and nothing! Funny thing is that I had to go back and get unfilled 0.5ccs because everything was getting stuck...now I feel I need a little bit more...lol. I guess its all about tweaking until you get to that perfect spot, but at least now I am not as concerned about running out of room in the band before I feel restriction. @Rachael - I agree --- this forum is fantastic! At first, I was just perusing the website to do some research pre-surgery, but I must admit I am on here a lot more often than I inititally thought I would be and have found it to be very helpful! It is definitely a comforting feeling to be able to relate to so many people.
  8. Ok, so I had surgery a little over 4 months ago and am doing really well, I've lost almost 65 pounds and am about 25 pounds away from my initial goal, but lately I have noticed myself slipping up quite a bit. I was being extremely strict about portions, counting calories, etc. and now (for about the last 5 days) I am finding myself having trouble with nighttime picking. This was always a huge problem for me --- do great during the day and go nuts at night. I ate m&m's, 2 Cookies, some potato chips, etc. The sad part is a couple of months ago, this would have been a normal day, and now, even though these "cheats" happened on different days, I feel like I am pigging out. Funny how your outlook on things can change in the matter of a few months. I don't know whether I am being too hard on myself and whether I have to realize that its normal to give in to indulgences at times, but I guess I am just nervous because giving into indulgences is what landed me into getting WLS. I know what I need to do, but I guess I just need some motivation. I am so scared I may gain this weight back that I worked very hard to take off. Has anyone experienced this and does anyone have any advice on how they got back on track? THANKS!!!

    Yell At Me PLEASE!

Thanks for all the advice. Getting the junk out of the house seems to be the smartest thing to do! Unfortunately, I have not been exercising much either. I am sure if I did, I would feel less guilty about indulging a bit. Yes, I am stressed --- we are in the process of renovating our new home and trying to rent out our current apartment. So paying 2 mortgages for the last two months plus the cost of renovating has been very stressful. I got back on track today - cut up all fresh fruit and made a fruit salad for breakfast! Thanks for the advice and suggestions!!!
  11. I did not have to do a pre-op diet....and although I hate to admit it, I ate everything in sight up to midnight the night before my surgery (and guzzled about 4 cans of soda)...and everything went fine Don't beat yourself up, just get right back on track! Good luck!

  13. Hi Everyone, I was filled on Wednesday (7.2cc). I am now having trouble getting much of anything down. I must admit that I do have a BAD HABIT of eating fast. I am trying to chew more and eat slowly. The majority of what I have been eating is getting stuck, including eggs which are soft and I end up sick each time for well over an hour. I am able to eat chili and yogurt, but that is about it. * Is this what restriction is...getting food stuck so you physically cannot eat or is restriction feeling full quicker after you eat? * Can I attribute all of these episodes to eating too fast and not chewing enough? * Or is it possible I am overfilled and should have a little removed? I would greatly appreciate any advice...Thanks!
  14. I think you will be fine....just try to stick to what your doctor said. As for me, I did not have to do any pre-surgery diet so I am pretty sure you will be okay.
  15. What is the point of liquids for 24 hours after being filled? I was able to have some mushy food and was just wondering if this was ok...hope so. Thanks
  16. Hi All, I had my fourth fill today and am at 7.2ccs ---- I have an 11cc band. What happens if I get to 11ccs and still dont feel the restriction I need? Would this ever realistically happen or am I being completely paranoid? I am not even 4 months out of surgery and my band is over half full so I am just a little concerned because I thought I would need to get fills for years to come and at this rate, there won't be any room left....lol. Or is it that after a certain point, you only get a little bit here and there and that does the job? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!!

    Fill Question???

Thanks everyone - all of the info is much appreciated
  18. I have been there. I was so hungry 2 days after surgery, I called my doctor. They basically said that I was probably a quick healer and that I had to tough it out so the band healed properly. I only had to wait 7 full days after surgery and was able to start eating on the 8th day. It was VERY difficult, but I just stuck through it. I was actually brought to tears at the time. I wasnt allowed to have Protein shakes either. I was only allowed broth, Jello, Clear liquids, etc. I hate broth and jello so I basically drank Water or watered down apple juice. I never thought I would be so happy to eat scrambled eggs...lol. There is not much else that I can say other than try your best not to think of it (although that is probably all you can think about) and you will eat soon enough. Good luck --- I know it is hard, but it will be well worth it! Oh, and I was able to have sugar free ice pops --- this really helped me get through it

    Considering Lap Band

I am also 34 and have been overweight for years. I do not have PCOS, but getting the lapband was the best decision I ever made for myself. I am down 60 pounds in just about 4 months and feel so much better,. Good luck to you in whatever you decide to do!
  21. After the initial week of surgery, I had lost about 18lbs and then for like 2-3 weeks, I was at a stand still, but all of a sudden, it started coming off pretty regularly at about 10 + pounds per month. Hang in there - If you are anything like me, I know you are anxious to lose, but it will happen! Good luck to you.
  22. Sometimes for lunch, I get a 6 inch subway sandwich (280 calories and 4g of fat). I typically finish the whole thing feeling guilt free being I am having meals ranging about 300 calories each. Can anyone tell me if this amount is too much food? I hope I am not stretching my pouch. Thanks.

    Subway Sandwich

Thanks for the feedback - Yes, I make sure to take all of the toppings into consideration @EBUSA - I am only a little over 3 months out of surgery...I am not sure exactly, but probably about a month and a half or so was when I first ate at subway. Fortunately, I am able to handle most foods, but I am finding after a few fills, that I need to remember to take my time when eating and chew well. Sometimes I forget, take a bite and dont chew it well and it gets stuck. When I first came out of surgery, I thought I would never have bread, Pasta, pizza, etc. again.....I was a nervous wreck...lol. But I realized that I really can enjoy lots of those things in moderation so long as I eat slow, chew well and dont overdo it. Good luck to you!
  24. Thanks everyone!!! WIll definitely heed all the advice
