October Sleevers - Who else
mountaingirlCO replied to clefofcividale's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am October 1 with Dr Michael Snyder in Denver, CO. I am having a revision from band (Dec 2010 - lost 85 pounds before it slipped and still have about 50 to go). I am starting my 48 hour liquid diet today and starting to get nervous too. I am a Federal employee and the possibility of a Govt shutdown isn't helping with the stress level either. I know this is the right decision for me and am looking forward to chatting with all of you on the post op side. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
mountaingirlCO replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 54 at my 6 month bandiversary. I am thrilled with the loss so far but still have a long way to go. I just hope the next 6 months go as well as the first 6. Everyone keep up the good work! -
Poll: Which shake is the best?
mountaingirlCO replied to mamajen1221's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I swear I tried every protein shake available and could barely choke down any of them so I make my own. I use the Any Whey flavorless protein powder from GNC and my favorite recipe is: 1/2 banana, 1/2 c milk, 1/2 c ice, 1/2 T starbucks cocoa powder, 1 t fiber powder & 1/2 scoop any whey protein powder and blend well in blender. -

Source of Life liquid multi. It looks nasty but tastes fruity and lots of B vitamins for energy - love it! -
troubles with lapband while flying
mountaingirlCO posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone had troubles with their lapband while flying? I have a business trip coming up soon and am worried. I think I am at perfect restiction right now so hate to have any removed but will be in a remote area for 2 days and am afraid I might have troubles. I can currently eat about a 1/2 c of solid food or 1 c of soft food. I will only be gone 2 1/2 days and am trying to decide if I need to have a little fill removed just in case or just take my chances. Anyone have any suggestions based on personal experience? -
troubles with lapband while flying
mountaingirlCO replied to mountaingirlCO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for all the great responses. My biggest fear is that I would be so tight I couldn't even drink water. Chloe - I live near Denver as well, live @ 8,000 ft, work @ 5,000 ft and am traveling to the middle of nowhere West Virginia. Thankfully it is only for 2 days so hopefully I will at least be okay with liquids. -

Do you weigh-in daily? weekly? monthly?
mountaingirlCO replied to hmm33502's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh weekly because the daily fluctuations would drive me crazy & I only see my doctor every 6 weeks which seems like too long to wait. Down 41 lbs in 3.5 months. -
For those of you who are 3, 6, 9, 12 months out
mountaingirlCO replied to momnear40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3.5 months out & eat .5-1.5 cups 5 times a day. I have lost 40 pounds so far. I make sure to get in at least 65g of protein & 64 oz of water daily but don't really track calories or carbs. I usually eat .5 cup of food per meal right after a fill (just had my 3rd, now 5.5 in a 10cc band) and once I am struggling to keep the quantity per meal to a cup or less I know I need another fill. Working for me so far. -
Fatigue at 10 months out
mountaingirlCO replied to hiddnstar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found additional vitamin B, beyond what is included in the average multivitamin, helps me with my energy level. -
Laurajean1, you are not alone. I felt very little after my 1st fill, after my 2nd I thought I was at perfect restriction but then about 3 weeks later it faded away & I have been struggling just trying not to gain for the past 5 weeks. Going in this week for fill #3 hoping this will get me where I need to be. Best of luck & hang in there.

mountaingirlCO replied to Airam13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try myfitnesspal.com (there is also a smart phone app if you have one). You can put in your current stats & goals and it will tell you what to do ( food & exercise) to achieve them by tracking daily. -
When do you exercise?
mountaingirlCO replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so not a morning person but have found that is the only time that works for me. I also noticed I have more energy throughout the day if I exercise first thing in the morning. -

Who stole my body??!
mountaingirlCO replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said as you lose weight your center of gravity changes causing temporary balance issues unti you adjust - so it might be more physical than you think. -
