    The BIG secret!!

Hi, I am getting banded on 12/27/10. At first I didn't want anyone to know about it. I had to tell my husband of course, but I made him swear to tell no one. I didn't want to be judged or hear anything negitive at all. I am a mother of three young kids, so I had to ask for help watching them while I went to Houston which is about 4 hours away several days in a row for several weeks in a row to do all the stuff to get the insurance to approve. My mother in law got worried that there was something really wrong, and it came out that i was going to have surgery. Of course she wouldn't let me be until I told her why. When I did she smiled and hugged me and told me that she was really glad that I was doing something to get healthy. After she found out it was a lil easier to tell my mom and my dad. Mostly everyone is really supportive, my mom was a lil concerned about it cause she knew someone who knew someone that had it and had serious problems. But once I made it clear to hear that this was what I wanted, she started trying to be supportive too. Basically the whole reason I am saying this is if you are not comfortable with anyone knowing, then don't tell anyone right now. The people close to you will find out at some point, and when they do it just may surprise you how they react. When it is all said and done it is your body, your life and your decision. Do what is best for you.
  7. I got my surgery date, and I go tomorrow for Pre-Op. Started the pre-op diet today... Not too thrilled with the shakes ( any ideas on how to make them taste a lil better would be greatly appreciated), but everything seems to be going smoothly, and very very quickly! I just started this journey on 12/1/2010, and now I am looking at surgery in just under two weeks. Wow, I guess that goes to show if you leave it in Gods hands, and submit to his will totally, he will handle it and you better be prepared for him to move some mountains! :cool2: :seeya:
  8. I am using Dr. Hollis too. I meet him for the first time tomorrow at my pre-op appointment. Everything I have read about him has been good.
  9. Just got my surgery date! This is going a lot smoother and faster than I thought.

1st day of pre- op diet

I am on my first day of pre-op diet too, and I think it depends on what your doctor says. I am allowed one small meal a day, supplimenting shakes for the other two. Outside of that I can have sugarfree Jello, or sugarfree popsicles. I would recommend that you call your doctor's office and ask them. They will be able to tell you exactly what your allowed and not allowed. Good Luck!
  11. Hey yall, My name is Tori. I am a wife and a mother of 3 wonderful and very active kids. I now weigh more than I ever have in my entire life, and nothing has worked to lose the weight. So, I said a prayer, and made an appointment with a doctor in Houston, to discuss having the lap band surgery done. I like everything I have read about it so far, and they said that my insurance does have the benifit for the surgery ( not 100% sure exactly what that means, but the lady on the phone said it was a good thing). I am just gonna take this thing one step at a time and hopefully God will lead me where he wants me to be. I have a wonderful family, and I wanna be around for a long long time to enjoy them, so I am going to do whatever has to be done to get healthier and stay that way. Thanks for reading. Take care and God Bless.:smile2:
  12. Thanks Jillian. I appreciate your response. That is basically what I am doing, praying and putting it all in God's hands. He will open doors where he sees fit, and close them too. Good luck to you and hope to read more from you later.
