Embarrassed Of My Lap Band - Ridiculous, I Know...
Jonna replied to goldielocks<3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one of those that don't care who finds out what I've done for MYSELF!! That's right, this is a decision I made for ME!!! I wanted to live again and do things I wasn't able to do. However, I also make sure that I workout and watch what I eat so that I can honestly say that it's not the band that is doing all the work for me. Everyone knows that I go to the gym 4x per week for about 1.5 hours each day, so they can't say "oh she took the easy way out". I am proud that I made this decision and I can only hope that I can help someone that is on the fence!! Best of luck to everyone! -
How Do You Know If Your Band Has Slipped?
Jonna replied to Jonna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone, I am going to see my surgeon in the next week or so. I feel really good other than that!! Best Wishes to you all! -
Yes, the port is located where the largest incision is on your belly. Mine is located about 6 inches above my belly button and to the right, below my right breast.

How Do You Know If Your Band Has Slipped?
Jonna posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been having some on an off nagging pain kind of off to the left of my stomach. It isn't everyday, but it almost feels like a pulled muscle, tomorrow I may not feel it all then in a few days it will be back. When I take a deep breath is when it really hurts. Anyone got any ideas? At first I was concernted of my band slipping, but I would think there would be issues with eating and I haven't had any other symptoms. Then I thought maybe it was my gallbladder, but they say it's off to the right of your stomach. -
Woo hoo, congrats to you!!! I was banded Jun 30, 2011. I have only lost about 50 lbs, but I am just fine with that. I was very sick to my stomach the first 2-weeks, but haven't looked back since. I LOVE my band, it helps me control my eating which is exactly what it's suppose to do. Always think of your band as a tool, it can't do it by itself it needs you to use it correctly. My doctor is very strict, I've only had 3 fills since surgery and only at about 3.5cc's in my band. If my weight loss is more than an avg of 1-2 lbs per week, he will not fill. He wants his patients to do it the correct way and not lose to fast then have to worry about saggy skin. The only place I am really flabby is behind my arms, I go to the gym 4x per week and do about 40-50 minutes of cardio and another 30-minutes of the machines. You will do great, I wish you all lots of luck!!!

Band Friendly Alcoholic Beverages.
Jonna replied to Carolinegee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had margarita's with no problems, however I don't hardly even get a whole one down. I also don't do it often, probably since surgery which was about 9 months ago I've only had maybe 4 or 5 drinking occasions. Have fun on your vacation!! -
Help! Feel Like I Need To Vomit...
Jonna replied to lgm217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like others have said, it takes more than a few times of getting sick to make your band slip. Honestly, it's probably more saliva than the smoothie. You don't realize how much saliva we swallow until you get stuck, when you do get sick that is pretty much all it will be. You are going to be ok, just relax take some deep breaths. Walking sometimes helps me. -
No Lap Band Fill After 2 Months & Still Losing?
Jonna replied to Cynsayshun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Jun 30th and have had 2 fills. My surgeon included 1.5 cc's in my band during surgery, so I'm sure you probably have a little in yours. I too can eat anything I want and really have to watch what I eat. Weight loss is getting slower and slower, so I would suggest just keep doing what you're doing because eventually I'm sure it will start slowing down. -
Help! Banded on 11/11/11
Jonna replied to changemynametoskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sick for 2-weeks after surgery, but I was able to keep sugar-free freezies down and some juices. You need to call your doctor for meds that will help with the sick feeling. I know exactly how you feel, but honestly it will go away and you will feel like a new person! -
Ok, I've only lost about 1 pound in the past 6-weeks, I am still exercising and watching what I eat. The doctor told me I was not getting enough protein, so for the past 2-weeks I've increased my protein by about 30 grams per day and guess what? I'm still only 1 pound down! I have had 2 fills and only at 3cc's in my 11cc band. When I go for the fill, he makes me drink and I feel stuck so he pulls some out and I can feel it go right down. I don't understand why I am at a stand still!! Any ideas?

Doing everything correct and gaining weight...
Jonna replied to Beachy_Babs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't get discouraged!! Maybe you're losing inches and also remember, muscle weighs more than fat so with your working out you're building muscle so you are possibly going to gain a little. Keep doing what you're doing and the results will show, I promise! -
Can you have a stuck episode without a fill?
Jonna replied to Poodlelover56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could have developed air causing gas, at least that's what it sounds like to me. You will know when you get stuck, believe me!! When you're stuck, it feels like someone has their fingers on your through trying to choke you, its a lot of pressure in your throat and chest. Throwing up isn't what you're used too, it's more like foam. It's really your saliva because it has no where to go but up. -
I think I can feel my tubing move!
Jonna replied to feliciadawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Meant to mention, I kept a pillow close to me for the first 2-3 weeks when I would get up or down or even to bend over.
