    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

It is private/locked so others can't see what is posted in the group but others may be able to see you joined the group. When I joined it said, "Rebecca has joined the group Bandsters". I think you can disable notifications like that on your privacy setting but not sure how.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Hi just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I have hit a wall the last few months...no weight loss and even have gained back about 10lbs. I am totally bummed and worried that I did all of this for nothing. I go to the doc on Monday for a fill, I think I'm at 5cc's now. How are all the rest of you guys doing?

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Oh Marcy that is terrible. It was only an accident, don't beat yourself up too much about it. It was not your weight, the same thing could have happened with your 6 year old stepping on it. You are absolutely right about this being a different weight loss journey than you've experienced before. Just remember it took years to put it on...losing it slowly will help to adjust our behaviors and help us deal with the root of the problem. Hang in there. So sorry about Pandie.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

I am counting my pre-op diet in my weight loss because I feel like it was part of the journey. If I don't I am pretty much at the same place everyone seems to be which is about 25-30lbs lost. Everything had been going pretty well for the last few weeks and then I must have eaten something that got stuck..I'm really restricted and can only tolerate liquids for the last 5 days I don't want to go to the doc because I will probably have to start from square one again (I only have 3ccs in my band). I don't know if I will ever get used to the inconsistencies--restricted/no restriction...maybe it will even out eventually.

    Too Funny!

That's funny! I wish I wouldn't have told people at work...they ask "how are you?" ...then look at my stomach which is not intentional on their part but still makes me feel weird!

    Grieving Period

I have definitely gone through grieving periods. The first time was when I started on the liquid diet...I was pretty emotional. After surgery was another tough time, especially during the liquids only phase. Once I started feeling better I of course started eating more. Then one day I decided to make a home made potpie...it seemed innocent enough. I ate one piece..I think the crust got stuck. Three days later after not being able to eat and feeling terrible I went to the doctor for an unfill. The experience was slightly traumatic for me which maybe was a good thing because I think I has changed my view on food. Now when I even think about eating something I know I shouldn't I just remember that stuck episode. Yes...that pizza smells amazing but there is no way I want to risk getting stuck. It's like the saying: 'Once bitten, twice shy". Hopefully I learned my lesson?

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Hi everybody, I was banded March 10. Everything went great for the first three weeks then one night I made a bad food choice. I ate a piece (yes...only a small piece) of pot pie WITH the crust and definitely paid for it. After two days of feeling nauseated, I decided to call the doctor when I started dry heaving. I guess I thought that if I was stuck it would eventually pass through but the nausea got so bad that I couldn't function. I went to the doctor, she took out the 3cc's that they had put in during the surgery. She said I should feel immediate relief but I still felt nauseated so she gave me a steroid shot to reduce swelling. She explained that my stomach was probably swollen and it was probably the crust that did me in. I had to be on liquids for a week and now I am progressing to mushy foods once again. I think I learned that I need change a lot of things about how/why I eat things I shouldn't. There is no way I want to go through that again so I've been trying to be careful. The scary part for me was that the doctor said this is not uncommon and it will probably happen again. Not if I can help it!

    WOO HOO!!!

Congrats! I can't wait til I can say that
  14. I got banded March 10, the first week was like a lot of other people's stories. After the first week I started feeling pretty good then on Monday I had a little too much to eat for dinner and ever since...I've been feeling terrible for the last three days. I have a lump in my throat, it's hard to even get liquids down today and I'm feeling nauseated and tired. I don't even want to be at work which is really unusual for me. I don't think I'm stuck because I've been able to eat small amounts of food but that lump and nausea won't go away. I think I have 3 cc's in my band that they put in for surgery..I haven't even had a fill yet. Do you guys have any suggestions? I wanna cry ;(

    Feeling Terrible

Vicky you were right it was swelling and irritation. After I posted I got progressively worse. i was super-nauseated and finally called the doctor. Luckily they were able to see me right away and took out 2.5 ccs out of my band. I felt better but still nauseated and dry heaving so my doctor gave me a steroid shot to help reduce the swelling. Finally, I felt a little better and since I've been home I feel back to normal. What an ordeal! I guess the lesson I learned is that pot pie is no longer a good food choice for me! She said the crust from the pie was probably stuck and wasn't going anywhere. Now I'm back to Clear Liquids for a couple days then full liquids for a week. Thank you for your response, it helped me tremendously

    Port question

I found out by accident where my port was when I was leaning up against my washing machine, it was very obvious where it was. Also if you lay on your back and stretch out you might find it that way...its usually the most tender spot on your belly.

    screwed up

I got banded on March 10 and one thing this whole process is teaching me is how to listen to my body...when it is hungry and when it is full. Yes, it is important to follow dr. directions but its also important to make the right decisions for yourself and listen to what your body is telling you. Don't worry...your body will definitely let you know if its not ready for something

    March 2011 Bandsters

Hang in there...I am 8 days post op and finally feeling close to normal. Some days have been harder than others. Yesterday I was having mini breakdowns because I felt like I wasn't getting any nutrition..every time I ate I got a headache and nauseated. Today everything was much better. I guess what I'm saying is that it does get better... just give yourself time to heal and adjust to everything. Also it was really hard for me to tell people I was going to get banded but to my amazement I have gotten an amazing amount of support. Thank goodness for this forum where we can share and not feel like we have to go through this journey alone

    March 2011 Bandsters

I got banded Thursday, March 10! I still can't believe it. I had more pain the second day than the first but today (3rd day post op) I seem to feel a little better. I am even considering just taking ibuprofen instead of narcotics but I keep reading conflicting things if it is ok or not. I know I wasn't getting enough liquids..every time I drink something I feel like it takes a long time to go down. I sent the hubby to get sugar free popsicles...they are the bomb! Good luck to those of you getting banded this week, the whole process was smoother than I thought it would be and soon you'll be a bandster too!
