Feel a little bummed...
Scoobie replied to Scoobie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thank you for the feedback. I am in this for the long haul but I guess my worries are getting the best of me. I hope I just need a couple weeks maybe, like you suggested. Here's hoping. Trying to be patient, when I start getting hunger pangs after and in between my three healthy meals and two healthy Snacks I get discouraged, it starts feeling like the "old me". I don't want that life anymore. Thanks for the words of encouragement, it does help to read it -
Feel a little bummed...

thanks for the reply. This is frustrating isn't it? I've lost 11 pounds since my surgery december 3rd, but like I say, I've been calorie counting so I feel the loss is due to that. I hope we can both be successful, it's sort of nerve wracking because I have the will but how long will I survive on willpower alone?it's not my strong point, which is in part how I became overweight in the first place. Good luck to you -
I've been sticking around 1300 cals/day. I spoke to the nutritionist late last week and he said to aim for between 1100-1300. Going for my first post surgery fill today, was filled at surgery (6 cc's) and feel like I need a fill. Good luck

B: 2 Melba toast topped with tuna L: other half of my ham/veggie subway sub from yesterday lunch. S: leftover fish pie (Jamie Oliver recipe... Delicious), and some sliced cucumber. Snacks, I brought a banana, small peice of cheese and two Melba toast crackers to work. I usually sip on peppermint tea through the day too. -
I had sparking wine on new years, no problems. Definitely not something I intend to make a regular habit of, but will splurge for the ocassional "treat"

Had an egg on a piece of light rye bread. Some mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries & blackberries). Lunch will be a 6" sub from subway with lots of veggies. Supper will be fish pie and a green salad. I also brought 4 Melba toasts and 4 thin slices of cheddar cheese to work if I need a snack at some pointthis afternoon. -
On solids now, already feeling discouraged
Scoobie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded December 3/10. I was given the greenlight for solid foods December 23rd. I received 6 cc's at the time of surgery, in a 10 cc band. I at first felt restriction, and the satisfaction of being able to eat small meals and feel like it was enough. But now I am hungry constantly, I feel now like everything is completely back to normal and I can pretty much eat as if I did prior to surgery, with very, very little restriction. Why the change so quickly? Now I'm battling trying not to eat just as I did before being banded. I'm trying to stay positive, but it's hard when things were going well for just a fleeting moment. I've been doing my best to stop myself from eating too much, I will admit i'm starting to find it difficult. I can easily eat more than a cup of food if I wanted to. Trying really hard to resist, but am hungry. Thanks for reading this. -

Elfie, do you eat until satisfied? What is your strategy (calories, measuring... Neither)? -

I definitely do have 6 cc's in my 10 cc band, was done on surgery day. This practice of surgeons starting doing this during surgery this past summer. I found out the exact amount when I spoke to the nutritionist about 10+ days ago. -

Sorry, this will prob be TMI...(could my band have slipped?)
Scoobie replied to Scoobie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I think I will call, you guys are right about that. I definitely don't have any reflux. Maybe I am just equating anything stomach related to the band because this is so new to me (being banded). I know what u mean about searching aligments online, makes you think there is LOTS wrong with u....lol Thanks for all replies. Hi there. Are you 100% sure you didn't catch a stomach bug? I remember when I first had my band and i had issues, I immediately thought something was wrong with the band itself, not anything 'regular'. If your band had slipped, you definitely would have a good case reflux and you wouldn't be able to keep anything at all down, so it really doesn't sound like a slip to me. I would just call the doctor and get his opinion. Web MD and a ton of internet searching always made me even more scared, so a quick phone call to the doc might be better for you. Good luck! I hope you start to feel better soon!! Please let us know what the doc says if you call! -

For the past two nights after dinner I've had major diarrhea (gross, sorry ) I'm transitioning from mushies to solids and pretty much everything is going down fine, but smaller portions than preop for sure. Does diarrhea ever mean band slippage? I've not had it after earlier meals in the day. But both nights right after I aye I had horrible stomach cramps, and then.... Very painful. I feel fine otherwise except for this morning o feel bloated with gas. I don't think I have the flu, stomach virus etc. I can't just pop into see the surgeon, I had my surgery on the opposite side of the country to where I live. Any insight is so appreciated. -
I was instructed to take mine off on the 7th day after surgery. The incisions were nicely healing by that time, I was pleasantly surprised.

I had 2 drinks last night (non carbonated). I'm 2 weeks post op as of yesterday.

Yes I was banded December 3, and I had awful gas pain in my left shoulder and chest. The clinic recommended heat, walking around, and deep tissue massage. I had my husband massage my shoulder as much as possible and I have to say that is what helped the most. My pain lasted at least 6-7 days. Hope this helps.

Struggling with liquids - not drinking with meals
Scoobie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is anyone else finding this a real challenge? I get thirsty at meals, I'm only on mushies now. But I get so thirsty before, during, and after meals. Wish I could chug water!! Lol. But that's hard to do now, and not supposed to do that with food. Anyone able to relate to this or have any advice? -

An alarm. That's a good idea. It really is a learning curve for sure. I didn't think it would be an issue - until I started living it. Thanks for the tips. Good luck to you as well. -
It hurts when I cough
Scoobie replied to livelovelaugh1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 12 days post op and this pain when coughing and sneezing is starting to settle down. Just part of the healing process I think. Yours hopefully will subside soon as well -
