    I'm FREEZING cold

Also freezing all the time, the latest snowfall and freezing temperatures isn't helping at all either. (as I type this from my work computer wearing a heavy jacket on top of 2 layers)

    Acid Reducer - how long?

Ahh that's interesting about Calcium Citrate. I'll check out getting an Rx for prilosec (generic version) as I'm sure it'd be cheaper than buying the OTC stuff. Time to use my health insurance for something, right?
  3. My doc gave me a 2 week supply of acid reducing pills to help with the reflux after surgery. I have bought some more on my own after that and have been taking them on and off for the last couple weeks. However sometimes I'll wake up and my throat will be sore from (I assume) the acid coming back up. Should I just be taking an acid reducer every day or how long do people usually stay on these things?

    Acid Reducer - how long?

Ah - thanks for the great info. Right now I just bought some over-the-counter 12-hour acid reducer and am taking one in the morning and one at night. Did you notice a big difference when switching to the prescription PPI? Do you have any side effects from it or is it dangerous to be on for a long time? I generally like to remain pill-free on a day-to-day basis, but if I am going to cause problems to my esophagus by not taking a PPI I want to do that.

    Tax deduction???

Wow - I would never have thought of this? You can deduct a medical procedure from another country off your taxes? How does that make sense?

    New Years Eve Drinking

I was retarded and had my first couple of drinks only 2 weeks after surgery. (red wine and margarita) I felt fine although I'm a little nervous about it now. I'll probably have a drink tomorrow as well but will try and stick to something "easy" like vodka mixed with crystal lite. Other than empty calories and inhibiting your ability to make sound eating decisions, alcohol doesn't seem to be harmful to the sleeve (even an early sleeve) right?
  7. I just bought a bottle of "skin tightening" lotion to help my skin as I lose weight. Has anyone here had luck with stuff like this, or any suggestions on what to use? I don't want to lose my weight only to have loose skin everywhere (I can already notice my skin getting looser).
  8. So far so good with my Jergins "Skin Tightening" lotion. I've just been putting it on in the mornings after I shower - including on my face. I'm pretty sure it's working because it kinda burns and tingles so it's at least doing something to my skin. lol I'm only 25 years old so I'm hoping my age will help with my skin tightening up as I lose weight. Time will tell.

    Um... endowment?

rofl! Keep it 'G' this is a family board!
  10. This ---^ After 25 years on the fat roller coaster, I decided I needed to take more drastic measures and get the sleeve done. So far I'm extremely happy I did it - what a life changer (so far).
  11. I had my sleeve done in Mexico a few weeks ago and everything is feeling fine so far. I'm just wondering if other people who had their surgery done in Mexico end up getting everything checked out back home some time? Would it be a good idea to visit a Doc and get a general check up or would it just be a waste?
  12. I was curious if anyone else has had something similar to this. I'm 10 days post-op now and just noticed that 1 of my 5 scabs has a hard area close to it but under the skin. It doesn't really hurt to touch or push on it but none of my other entry spots from the laparoscopy have this under-skin hard spot. It's on the middle-left entry spot where they pull the stomach out from. Any ideas?
  13. I wonder how much it would cost for another leak test from my general doc - just to put my mind at ease. I'm not usually one to visit the doc unless I have a problem.

I have a question about alcohol

Wow, after reading this thread I'm starting to get nervous as I had my first drink about 2 weeks post-op (red wine then a margarita). I felt fine and still do feel fine. I had a few non-carbonated drinks yesterday as well. Hrm... I'm not sure why non-carbonated alcohol would be bad for your sleeve other than the empty calories part of it. It's technically under my post-op diet restrictions although my doc didn't say anything about alcohol specifically.

    Mushies....

Mine was 1st week = full liquid diet 2nd week = mushies and puree foods 3rd week = soft foods - anything I can separate with a fork without needing a knife 4th week = whatever I feel comfortable with So far so good...
  16. Just staying in from lunch while co-workers have burgers and stuff. I'm 8 days post-op and feeling pretty amazing. People have told me that they can already tell a weight difference in my face and I feel like I have a ton of energy. I started "puree foods and full liquid" diet yesterday and haven't even made good use of it yet. I tried to puree some Pasta salad yesterday but was so put off by the color and texture that I couldn't eat it - despite it being one of my favorite foods pre-op. You guys weren't kidding when you said tastes change after surgery! I had a 150 calorie yoghurt 5 hours ago and still don't feel like I want to eat anything. Of course the thought of stuffing my face with french fries sounds nice and familiar but I don't have that hunger feeling that I usually have and get distracted with other things.
  17. I counted it as a pureed food. I think the heaviest thing I tried to consume during my full liquids phase was some chocolate milk - which my stomach didn't like too much.
  18. The first night was really rough for me. That CO2 they pump in you during the surgery hurts! I was pretty out of it for 4ish hours post-op, then started walking around as soon as I could because they told me walking around relieves the pain from the CO2. 1st night = hell 2nd night + = a lot easier

    Eating out

I don't want and have never heard of that card before. So far I love eating out on my sleeve, delicious leftovers! Even a small meal is lasting me 2-3 meals now. I'm saving so much money by just not being a pig anymore.

    Two weeks to go

I was very off/on with it before my surgery too. Looking back I should have been 100% for it! Chin up! Get a heating pad, broths, Jello, and sugar free pop-cycles before you go - cover your basics at least.
  21. I made my decision to get the sleeve pretty quickly. I didn't even know the gastric sleeve existed 2 months ago - lol. I was originally planning on getting the lap band but I'm REALLY glad I found out about the sleeve when I did! I also got mine done in Mexico. For me, the idea of getting it done in Mexico was the scariest part. I spent countless hours reading about it and was still nervous going down there. Post-op I feel pretty silly for doubting it so much (I feel like I got amazing care).

    pre surgery over eating

I went fuckin' crazy with food the month before my surgery. I was probably consuming 5k+ calories a day and it was great. I knew I only had a month left to eat and I made good use of it! My "last meal" was a binger at the olive garden on endless Soup salad and breadsticks. Looking back, I'm glad I got some closure on food the way I did before the surgery (although it was obviously unhealthy). It's kind of comical that now, a couple weeks later, I'm only able to fit about 5% of what I was eating into my stomach.
  23. Ahh I just saw this part of the forums lol. Not sure what being gay/***** has to do with a weight loss surgery but oh well, here it is!

    Um... endowment?

I'm a pretty new sleever and I'm already noticing a difference down there. I've heard that it's "30lbs = +1 inch of manhood" from the show ***** as Folk. As to if it's true or not... so far I'm going to go with yes. Edit - lol... apparently it blocked the word "Q U E E R" from the "Q as Folk" in my above posting for some reason.
  25. Yeah I guess I should just stop worrying about it and give it some time. I'm glad to know that some other people had the same exact lump that I was worried about. Thanks guyes Haha I was thinking about that too. I even asked the doc "how did my huge ass stomach fit through that little incision!?"
