    Somewhat discouraged

Hi, Adriana. I was banded on 10/22/2010. I am down approx. 60 lbs. There are some people who were banded before me who have lost less and there are some who have lost more. I know it is hard, but do not compare your weight loss to others. Eventually, we all get to our goals as long as we use the band as a tool and not rely on the food restriction to do all the work. In the month of February, I had zero weight loss. From that point, I joined the gym. I work out at least 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes a day. If I am pressed for time, then I will only work out for 20 minutes, but I will try to keep my heart rate increased to get the most bang for my buck. I use the sauna to help get rid of excess Water and toxins. Now, I know this may sound absolutely insane and I would not have believed it before February, but the more you work out, the more energy you will get. If you do not have energy now, start off with a slow walk and the energy will follow. Now you may say that you do not have the time to go to the gym that often. I am a full-time paralegal at a large law firm. I attend law school part time, three days a week in the evenings. I am a wife and mother of an 11-year-old daughter who plays basketball, piano lessons, swimming, etc. I was determined to carve time out for me! I did not go through the whole procedure of getting the band to fail. I am determined to succeed. Once you set your determination at a "nothing will stop me" pace, you will see better results. The physical part is only half the battle. The rest is mental, within our own minds. I hope this helps!

    What's the time frame?????

Prior to attending the seminar, I was in a medically supervised weight loss program for six months. Because the doctor did not chart my medical records correctly, my insurance company required an additional three months of the weight loss program. This was in April. I had my surgery in October. So from start to finish, including all of the pre-op clearances (i.e., EKG, stress test, barium swallow, etc.), it took about six months to have my surgery. The time went really fast and it doesn't seem like six months at all. Hope this helps.

    Hi Everyone! :)

Hi, Tami. I'm glad to hear you're doing well. My surgery was 10/22. It is going great! I laughed at your post because my husband and daughter both had KFC the other day and they were sitting at the table trying not to crunch so that I they wouldn't "tease" me. I was quite okay with my won-ton soup (minus the noodle, of course). LOL!
  8. Hi, everyone! Had my surgery on Oct. 22. The surgery went fine and I wasn't too sore afterwards. The trapped CO2 gas is a dealbreaker! OMG! The gas pain was worse than the surgery itself . Two weeks out, no more gas pain, surgery on Friday and was back to work by Tuesday, walking about a mile a day (slow pace for now), can't wait to begin pureed food next week . So far so good. Looking forward to taking this journey with you all!
