5 Months Out & No Real Weight Loss-Is This Normal?
luvzsweetz replied to smzava's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 6.8cc in mine, I was banded 9/21/210 in 2/25/2011 up to 6.8cc in may and April is when I started feeling fullness and eating small portions but by Nov 2011 I felt even tighter 2011 I having acid reflux and food coming up when I slept so 11/2012 final the band was too tight with nothing goin down . Keep working on portion control and get a walking routine and maybe band needs time to adjust. -

My surgery date 328 weight Sept 21, 2012...no fluid. 1st fill 10/22/2010 5cc, very slow weight loss 2nd fill 1/12/2011 1cc, still very slow weight loss. 3rd fill 2/12/2011 .5cc, still very slow weight loss 4th fill 2/25/2012 .3cc... Sorry remember previous weight losses I have them in different calendars but biggest weight loss April 16 pounds and May 15 pounds. I continued to lose 11/2011 is when I began to have issues with too much tightness had a barium swallow done showing fluid going thru. Removed .8cc, don't have these dates with me, added .5cc. 12/2011 had upper GI X-ray taken showing nothing passing thru unless I took deep breathes that made it go thru. Weight is 240 removed all fluid in band 12/19/2012 today I've gained 16 pounds but have stayed at this weight. I just had a barium done on 1/15/2013 and see my Dr on 1/30/2013. So this was my experience I think I requested to go extreme and it took a while for my body to adjust. So I guess this time around I will give it more time to adjust.

I think everyone's body is different but by experience the band adjust and keeps adjusting it took my band 6 months to adjust and another 6 for it to get so tight nothing was goin down. I guess everyone has different experiences.

Give it time & patience, first i was banded I recieved a fill feb 2011 after that I noticed a lil difference in 11/2011 was having a lot if restriction had a Barium swallow to check everything was ok. 2012 started getting acid reflux throwing up in my sleep, I dealt with it and kept telling my Dr we removed fluid but still the same. I took a upper GI which showed nothing goin down caused my pouch to stretch. So now back to square 1, all my fluid was removed so my pouch would shrink again and so I have been a month with no fluid. I did gain 15pds but have maintained those xtra 15#'s and have enjoyed food that I don't normally eat but I look forward to adding fluid and hopefully fulfilling my goal weight. I keep a positive attitude all the time and have had to have alot of patience though this journey.

Need Help Fast/Lap Band Slip/Removal Surgery Tomorrow WHAT???
luvzsweetz replied to Msheli19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sometimes we have to stay positive and hopefully everything will be ok. I recently had all my fluid removed I was banded Sept 2010 and dealt with pain, heart burn and throwing up in my sleep every night due to my band being so tight, food only went down when I took deep breaths... The X-ray tech let me view when I did a barium swallow. I've dealt with this since last thanksgiving and finally I'm feeling better. Of course I was worried because I have no fluid but I'd rather try my willpower and heal and start over. I did gain 9 pounds but I did over indulge over the holidays but I'm still working out and ready to start again... Just a minor set back. Stay positive. I'm like you I love my band it has made a big difference in my life. -
Thanks! it's really good to not have heartburn anymore!

I didn't really realize that I was able to shop in some normal stores until my work out partner brought me her clothes that she no longer fit in. I'm an 18 and I still shop women's I can buy old navy jeans and wear XL tops. I really dislike wearing baggy or large clothing so I guess I adjusted pretty quick.

Well what a year.... Nov 2011, I began to feel issues with my band being too tight. I had a fill in Feb 2011 and in Nov 2011 started have to throw up quite often. Made a visit with Dr and we decided to remove some fluid from the band. So fluid was 6.8 removed .3 so 6.5. So I felt ok and still had a lol issue with tightness but was bearable. I then began to have serious heartburn and at night if pouch wasn't empty, I would constantly cough and would I guess kinda throw up in my sleep which was not good so I constantly would wake up through the night even if I drank something and heartburn was horrible. I dealt with it for a long time. This Oct/Nov had an issue that it felt my band moved idk it changed and I felt it. I saw the Dr again had a barium swallow ordered and come to find out my band was so tight it took a deep breath for anything to go through. So what basically happened I was eating my pouch expand do to food going down too slow and basically causing me nightly grief. So Dec 19 2012 removed all the fluid and allowing my pouch to heal. I was nervous to remove the fluid but Dr said it is what needs to be done to heal. Since the removal I have gained about 8-9 pounds I'm not too worried I still workout and I know I over indulged this holiday season. Ready to heal and start over. Just an update my Surgery date Sept 21, 2010 324 pounds, Dec19, 2012 240 pounds.

You may need to have another fill. My weightloss was very slow in the beginning and I too was eating more than I should on a daily basis. Everyones different and sometimes the band does take time to adjust. My fills adjusted after a couple of months.

I have similar situation, all of sudden Nov 2011 my band got extremely tight, removed some fluid .5cc, added .3cc still a lil tight in morning mine varies day to day. I was having bad heartburn and acid reflux so I also started taking Zantac every morning and that helps the band ease up in mornings. I think tightening also comes with body, stress, hormone changes you just have to monitor and know your body.
