Are there any other Sleep Apnea Sufferers out there?
justplaintired posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Am I the one who cannot get used to this miserable CPAP torture device? I have had it for a month now and I'm not doing very well with it. I have the nasal pillow kind now (had the nose mask for a week) and I think this is the smallest mask there is. And yet, I still have a very hard time dealing with it! I feel like I'm suffocatng OR I wake up in the middle of the night with it off and blowing onto my face (or dh's face-LOL). I swear, I am not getting better sleep with this thing than when I was having 50 apneas per hour. WTH?! -
If you haven't gone to the bathroom yet, I suggest taking a laxative. Once I went, the gas was able to escape and I felt much better. Hang in there! Day 4 improved for me...the first three days I was a hot mess!

One month post up and...I'M IN ONEDERLAND!!
justplaintired posted a blog entry in justplaintired's Blog
I'm thrilled to say that yesterday was one month post op (with a shorter feb month I think I'm around 28 days post op) and today I hit onederland! I'm sooooo relieved! I knew I wouldn't feel very good until that stupid scale started with a 1! I'm without restriction so any progress I am making is all me. I suspect I could eat almost as much as I did before but I wouldn't dare! Besides that, I'm eating so much better. I don't go near my trigger foods like bread/pasta/potatoes, etc. I'm pretty much protein and some veggies these days. I'm proud of myself!! I am going to be adjusted on 3.22 so I am sure I'll see restriction then. I'm looking forward to it because I am going on vacation soon after and I don't want the vacation to disrupt my weight loss. My goal for the vacation will be to maintain whatever weight I am when I leave. Speaking of goals, my doc had told me to just maintain between the 2 wk appt and my first fill. He said he didn't really expect me to lose but that I should not gain. Well...I wasn't willing to go with that so I've been plugging along. Fighting through the tummy growls... It hasn't been that bad because I think I have detoxed myself of my trigger foods right now. For example, last night we were with friends and there was delicious chips and homemade salsa. I LOVE THAT! So, I cut up zucchini to dip into the salsa. I still got that yummy salsa taste but stayed away from those deadly chips! Again, PROUD! So, right now I am down 24 lbs since 2/5 which is when I began the pre-op diet. YIPPEE!! -
Any Feb bandster gotten a fill yet?
justplaintired replied to justplaintired's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How is it going today?? I can't wait for that feeling! -
What did the doc say? Did you call?
-
Hi, First of all, you need to do what your doctor is telling you to do. I'm focusing on chewing 30 times and putting spoon down in between. I was a fast eater so this is a big challenge for me. I presently have no restriction so things are going pretty easily as far as food goes. However, I am still "dieting" and watching/tracking everything I eat. The things I love have pretty much left my life. I was banded the same day as you! Tomorrow is our one month anniversary. Welcome!!

Ok, now I'm hear to cheer y'all up! I had the week or not losing and now I dropped a couple over the past few days. Apparently, this is normal but we are all just anxious! I know I am! As for the constipation, yeah, I'm still there, too. Oy! It is amazing to me that almost all of us have the lull in the weight loss around the same time. I go for my fill on 3/22 and I cannot wait. I've been good on my own but I'm looking to lose the hunger pains that I have to fight through. WE WILL DO THIS!!! BTW, does anyone communicate with smokey? I am a little worried. She was sooo active on here and now she has vanished. I'm worried also because she has mentioned in passing that she has had a tough time with her abusive ex. I don't mean to worry anyone else but I was hoping that maybe someone communicates with her personally.

2 large lumps where I.V. was in wrist
justplaintired replied to TexasMama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jachut, You don't know me but I've been reading your posts over the past few months when I see them. I know you have mentioned that you are going through medical problems now but I never knew for what. Now, I see you are going through chemo. I'm not being nosy. I sincerely just hope that whatever you are fighting goes away quickly and that you are 100% well very soon. Best regards.

-
We will win this battle! One pound at a time!!!
-
Okay, so I just got back from the doc. Of course, my loss showed less than at home this morning because it was later in the day but... I'm down the 20 since 1 wk pre op according to them. The surgeon said he knows I will be feeling hungry now and that is to be expected. He also told me that he doesn't even care if I lose NOTHING from now until after my first fill. He said my goal is to just maintain. Sigh... I WANT TO KEEP LOSING!!! The dietician said we are in lapband hell now. We have our appetites back with no restriction due to the swelling going down. So, this is why we are all experiencing the big weight loss stall. I am getting a fill on 3/22 even though I am leaving for a cruise a few days later. He said he will give me restriction but not as much since he wouldn't want to overdo it and risk my having problems while on vacation. He said I will definitely have restriction though. I told him I better have it since I can do a LOT of damage in one week on a cruise. OY! So, that is the scoop for today.

I'm thinking she and a few others will be getting fills soon. I can't wait to hear all about it. Is smokey MIA?
-
sophinator, how are you doing today? i'm with you...the first three days SUCKED, imho! lol day four was like a whole new day and each day gets better as we go along. this is the 5th surgery i ever had and i felt worse with this one than three of the others! lol go figure! i didn't expect it. but at least the worst of it ends after three days. i can't wait to get the fill on the 22nd. i'm hungry but controlling myself. that means i feel like i'm starving myself. i feel so nervous about my cruise because i fear a food binge if i'm not restricted enough. we will all make it through this together.

Days go by... This week it was five days before... well, you know. Anyone else dealing with constipation? And yes, I am drinking all of the Water.
-
I will try them. I have tried everything else that has been suggested. Benefiber is going to be my next remedy. Thanks everyone!

It seems to be happening to us all! I lost 20 lbs in 17 days and now in the last week I think I am down only a half of a pound. I don't think the constipation is helping me either. Sorry if TMI. I go to the doc today and we'll see what their scale says. I know they will be saying that I did so well but that was LAST week. Then...standstill. I knew I wouldn't lose rapidly the whole time but I didn't really expect to stop dead when we are only eating 1K or less calories! I walked on the treadmill only once so far but I will be starting that daily soon. I want this weight to start moving again. Also, I am going on a cruise at the end of the month and I was hoping to drop another 15 before we went. Now, that is doubtful! Waaaaaah!

Hi readers... I'm still plugging along but truthfully I am feeling hungry. I know that I will have to be strong during this period of time. It isn't horrendous but I still have about 5 weeks until my first fill. The reason being that I was to be filled in a few weeks but it will be 4 days before I go on a cruise...not a good idea to have a first fill and then be out of the country; right? So, I'm anticipating the surgeon putting it off until I come back from the cruise. Oh well... I hope that when you get to that "sweet spot" you don't feel hungry any longer. Your lower stomach doesn't growl anymore? I get how you will only have a little bit of food before the pouch is full but what about the big bottom part? That seems to be where the growls come from; right? I'm coming down with something (wicked sore throat) so I plan on going to bed early and calling it a night. One more day of being a good bander down... I know this is forever and there will be no end and I'm okay with it. I hope if you are reading this that you are having a bandtabulous day!

Feeling quite good today. Day 6 of my new life.
justplaintired posted a blog entry in justplaintired's Blog
Days 1-3 were hell on earth. Did I mention they were hell on earth? OMG! Day 4 I was starting to feel okay, day 5 even better and day 6...so much better! My complaints today...incision pain (no biggie, always expected that), I'm bruised all over my stomach like I went a few rounds with Mike Tyson, and my one leg is still achy and the toes are numb (not as achy as it was so I assume it is slowly improving). NOW ONTO THE EXCITING (non complaining) NEWS! I had my post op visit yesterday and I am down another 9 from my post op visit for a grand total of....14!!! Woohoo! I'm absolutely thrilled. I decided to treat myself to a new eyeshadow shade at ulta. i'm a make up junkie and I decided to buy Urban Decay "Scratch." Nice... The nutrtionist has moved me onto pureed food so I'm planning on pureeing some delish cream of mushroom soup today AND maybe trying to eat some ricotta cheese or hummus. I'm still amazed by how different a person can feel in a couple of days. I was literally thinking I made a huge mistake in getting the lapband and now that I'm feeling better, I'm PSYCHED I did it!! -
How often are you seeing your doc?
justplaintired replied to TexasMama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My first appt was 5 days post op. My second one is 19 days post op. I know my next one will be at 6 wks post op. It is supposed to be my first fill. HOWEVER, I am going on a cruise 4 days later so I suspect he will not do the fill until I get back from the cruise which will then be 8 wks post op. -
Hey Sophinator, I was very nauseas the first 36 hours. While in the hospital I was given a lot of anti nausea meds in my IV. I forget the first one but the second one was reglan (sp?) and that one seemed to work. Since I've been home I have not had any nausea. HOWEVER, I had a lot of other crazy issues. I'm 17 days post op and I'm still having issues here and there. I am constipated, gassy, have a side cramp (similiar to a stitch you get when running) and an achy leg. All of this is still tolerable and I'm not taking any pain meds. I chew gas x but don't think it helps. I''m also taking a plethora of anti constipation meds (including miralax, senokot, cholase, etc.) I guess once I start eating more things will get better in that dept? I would call your doc and speak to the nurse about something for anti nausea. This surgery is not for sissies!! (and I'm thinking we are all tough cookies!) Hugs

Let's see... so far today I have had two Protein drinks (vanilla, dymatize), and one dannon vanilla greek yogurt. I was actually staring at a salad in the cafeteria and decided to be GOOD. I knew I'd only eat a few bites anyway so what a waste. I've had chili so far. Basically, if it is mushy or can be made mushy, I'm okay at this stage per my doc. I'm making very good choices and I'm quite proud of myself. HOWEVER, anyone else having ummmm, constipation issues? I don't seem to go. I think I'm on day four right now. Ugh...

Do they use a monster sized needle and does it hurt? How long does it take to get a fill? I know my first fill will be done in radiology by my surgeon in a few wks. I'm sure this has been asked before so forgive me for being redundant. Thanks.

I weighed myself today and since 2/5/11 (started pre-op diet), I have lost 20 lbs! I was banded on 2/11/11 so I'm thrilled with my results so far. I have some ways to go, of course, but I can feel the difference in my clothes, my face looks less bloated and my stomach is starting to go down. I worked today for the first time since surgery and I did feel pretty sore when I got home in the port site. I also seemed to have some majorly trapped gas in my body last night and into today. I'm doing pretty darned well with this. I'm proud of myself! I had a little incident last night where I think I didn't chew up a piece of soft chicken well enough or ate it too fast. I dunno but it got stuck, it hurt...ultimately I barfed (different barfing post band)...twice. I cannot wait to get into ONEderland. I'm four lbs away from that. I hope to see it within the next two weeks. Yippee! Life is good...
-
Good for you that you are getting a fill in two weeks! I'm not getting one until 6 wks post op. Congrats on your weight loss, too. You are doing great! I don't see a problem with you using the phentermine in the short term. I'm sure once you get filled, you will not be hungry anymore but until then, anything that helps you stay on track, is good!
