I am still trying to find a way to get the LapBand. I have a high BPM shouldn't be a problem but what about HealthNet? What Steps do I have to take? 1. Talk to Primary doc 2. Make a claim with my insurance? How does this work??? Thanks sooo much for the tips! Kitty:clap2:

I am 5'2 and 222lbs with Multiple Sclerosis. I have been wanting to get Lap Band surgery for many years. My neuro doc told me I could after I am on treatment for 12 mos. But does anyone know if this will be a problem for me? Kitty

This is so awesome because I have PCOS and want to get the Band very bad. Thanks for the information! Kitty

can I get a self loan to pay for it? Will I have to see a nutritionist, therapist, and psyc? Or can I just find a doctor and get it done with cash? I do know in Mexico you only have to be 20lbs over weight but I am assuming in US I still have to have a 40 bpm, right? Kitty:faint:

:help: Hi all! I am hoping that I will beable to get a band soon. My primary doctor said because my insurance is Healthnet I have to go threw a nutritionis program, rehab doc and a psyc test first. So now I am waiting for the nutritionist to contact me. Per my doc he says that I have to do this program with the nutritionist first for 6 months. Now should I lose weight on this nutrition program?:hungry: If I lose weight will they not refer me to get the lap band? Should I try to gain weight? Should I not? Does anyone know how this works?? Kitty

KittyBoozie replied to roband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So if your hungry and start over eating again thats when you get a fill? Kitty (Healthnet HMO) -
I do think this is a very good question. I am 5'2 at 220 and dont have a regular period. I think because my weight is so high. But anyhow someday I would like to get pregnant so I was so happy to hear you could get pregnat after having the Lap Band. Kitty ( Healthnet HMO)

6 Freaking Months!??!
KittyBoozie replied to margo281's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorta in the same boat as you. My primary doc refered me to a nutritionist and told me I will have to be on a diet program for 6 months first. He also said I have to go to a physical therapist for a workout program. This is lame because I teach excerise classes and was a personal trainer for 10 years ( yes I am 5'2 @C 220 and still teach fitness, brave yet still fighting a huge weight problem). He then said I have to get a psyc eval. I am figuring to get all this done will take a long time, maybe a year. If I even get approved, who knows. Kitty (Healthnet HMO) -
Any Bipolar People Out There
KittyBoozie replied to Yvonne's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow.....I too am Bipolar and have been for years. I am on low doses of Walbutrin and Lithuim. It is nice to know I am not alone. How will being bipolar and being on meds affect my chances of getting the Lap Band surgery? What about the psyc eval. ? Will this look bad? Kitty -
Having problems getting Psycologist approval
KittyBoozie replied to sdipiazza's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow...sounds very frustrating! I haven't got to the psyc eval. stagr yet, I am now being refered to the nutritionist stage. I read your thread because I know I have to have an eval. by a psyco. <grin> and I am trying to prepare myself for what to expect. I will be keeping in contact. I will pray for you and me. Did you have to go to a nutritionist? What up with that? Kitty Healthnet HMO 5'2 220 -
Not Recommended to have Lap Band???!!!
KittyBoozie replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Intresting....well alittle off the subject but last week I went to see my primary doctor about trying to get him to refer me to a lap band surgeon (Healthnet HMO). When I talked with my primary doc's ignorant nurse she told me no, you dont quality. "That's not a good idea for you, he wont refer you" the nurse said. I was crushed and scared to ask my doctor for approval, but I did. But my doctor refered me to a nutritionist which is the first step of approval. Don't ever give up! Kitty -
:help: Has anyone had a fatty liver? Before and/or after surgery? My doctor called me this morning to give me the results on my liver panel which came up irregular. He said I have a fatty liver and I need to go to the specialist. He told me this is because of drinking (I dont really) or being over weight which I am 5'2 220lbs. Has anyone had this problem? Can this be a tool to help me get my insurance to pay for my surgery? (Healthnet) Can this go away if I loss weight? Thanks for reading this! KITTY:help:
