I started my journey on September 1st, 2010. I have been overweight for years and tried just about any and all diets. I was always able to lose weight but always seemed to gain all my weight back plus an additional 14 20 lbs give or take a few 20 each time. I love to cook and bake and am very talented in the kitchen. When my current husband and I met in 1992 he was tall and thin and with the help of my cooking I managed to help him gain several pounds also. Over the past few years my weight has hit an all time high of greater than 150lbs to be honest I have know idea how large I really have been because I stopped weighing myself because it was so depressing. I began to have a lot of trouble with my knees in 2008 (me in the orange shirt) I think this is when I was at my largest. My final decision to have surgery was a very personal one, knees hurting, facing knee replacement, sleep apna and hypertension. One day I had finally had enough and made a decision to have the surgery. I wanted the full support of my family so I have included them in my journey. My husband has been my best cheerleader and supported me through the presurgery visits and every step of the journey since surgery. Today i am almost at goal and many of my friends tell me I don't need to lose any additional weight. I started this journey to be healthy, I have had many bumps along the journey but feel blessed that I have been so successful. I really do love the new me and love the life that God is allowing me to live. Sharing my journey with others is important to me, I want to inspire others to believe that anything is possible with hard work and believing in themselves.
UPDATED: I reached my goal September 9, 2012. WOW! Stay tuned for part two of my life as I continue to tone and live a healthy life!

Update: Today I am 2 years and 5 months post op and still at or below goal. Living with lap-band is awesome for me!
