Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
redstrat replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have lost 136lbs. -
I have to be honest. I lost weight really quickly the first few weeks and then it slowed down to 4-5 lbs a week.(usually 4lbs) Excercise is a big part of it. I walk 4 times a week and maintain a 1200-1400 calorie diet. I think that is the key to my success. The good news is that I feel great and have tons of energy. I am off of my blood pressure medication and my cholestrol is 180. Im sure my weight loss will slow down and thats ok. You have to remember we are all different and lose at different speeds. The main thing is that you are losing weight everyweek.

Thanks and Congratulations! My goal is just to get my weight off. I do believe that I will be where I want to be by the end of the year. To be honest I'm 6'5 and will be happy to be anywhere between 250 and 275. I will decide when I get to that weight if I want to try for 240. I havent been under 300 since since high school 15 years ago. I just cant wait to hit 299! Its all down hill from there. Good Luck! Joe

Hello Everyone. Tomorrow is my 90 day mark. I have lost 85lbs as of last Saturday. I have went from a 58-60 pant to a 46-48. I cant believe how easy this has been so far. I have not yet had a fill. I can eat more than when I first had the surgery but I just dont. I make sure I eat normal portions and eat healthy foods. Im not saying that I dont have that occasional slice of pizza, hamburger, or pasta.(with the band I can only do 1 slice of pizza or half a burger anyway) I just don't do it everyday. I do believe that the decision to have the band has been the best I have ever made. I have to tell you that Neal's website has been a great motivational tool. Joe

I was wearing a size 58 pant and a 5xlt shirt before surgery. I am now wearing a loose 48 pant and wearing 3xlt shirts. I hope everyone is doing well! Joe

Thanks Joanne! Hang in there and Im sure you will be fine. One thing I have realized is that Hunger pains dont hurt anymore than being to full. Everything is about balance. For the first time In my life I have realized that I dont have to eat a ton of my favorite foods to be satisfied but rather take my time and enjoy the quantity that I do eat. Joe

I told my Doctor I did not want a fill at this point. The weight is falling off and I have plenty of resitriction. He agreed that we wouldnt touch it unless I started feeling hungry or the weight loss slowed or stopped. I have had no problems as of today.(Pb's, Nausea, etc....) I can eat anything but just smaller portions. My average day consists of: Breakfast: Advantage Protein Shake (during morning commute) Mid Morning: 1 Scrambled egg w/ Salsa or a Yogurt Lunch: Chicken breast 1/4 veggies or Soup, Chilli etc Snack: Sugar free pudding or apple sauce Dinner: Lean meat 1/4 cup of veggies. 48-64 oz of water per day. On the weekend we go out and have pizza and I can usually eat 3/4 to 1 slice. I cant believe how easy this has been for me. I guess Im one of the lucky ones. I do try to walk about 30 minutes everyday also. Im 6'5 and all of my friends laugh at me, but they are all very proud. Joe

Wow! I cant believe it has already been almost 2 weeks. It has been really easy so far. No gas pain, no real pain from surgery at all. I have lost about 35lbs since the preop diet that started on January 10th. Im going to list a typical day of my foods. Please give me your opinions below on whether or not it is similar to what you can eat or if its more or less,or if Im eating the right types of meals and Snacks. Any input would be awesome. Breakfast. Protein shake Mid Morning - sugar free Yogurt or a scrambled egg lunch 1/2 can or so of soup(usually campbells chunky type) Mid Afternoon - small cup applesauce dinner More Soup or turkey chili snack sugar free pudding cup(occasional) 50-64oz of Water per day. Your opinions would be appreicated!

Hey, I was banded on Wed. the 24th and am able to go to soft foods today. I have been able to eat: scrambled eggs, chicken noodle Soup, and cream of wheat so far with no problem. I was wandering if canned Turkey Chilli would be ok? (Hormell) Thanks, Joe

How much did you pay total for pre-op labs, exam & consults?
redstrat replied to DooneyJC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I Paid a $50 fee on the consulation and that was it. My surgery was covered 100%. Joe -

Its finally here! I get banded tomorrow (24th) at 9am @ Baptist Hospital in Nashville. I will post when I get home or as soon as I am able. I would like to thank eveyone for the support you have given me over the last few weeks! BTW, I see people posting they can't eat pizza with the band. I know two people with the band that can still eat pizza as long as it is thin crust. Can some of you share your pizza thoughts?:heh: Thanks, Joe
